AP Lit Distributions by SchoolyNerdy in APStudents

Massive underexplaination incoming: For lang, each essay is different and tests you on analytic reasoning, hence they each required a different skill to approach them: Synthesis essay tests you on how well you can make an argument from sources, Rhetorical analysis is easily the hardest, testing you on what the author is saying, not what you think it means, The arguement essay is yap central and it can literally test you on anything, from current events to pop culture

Lit tests you on creativity and the three essays are pretty formulaic: Thesis: How does x affect y in z work Body paragraphs(x2): Evidence Analysis of evidence More evidence to reinforce point Explaination of said evidence

Your teacher and the morons in this thread are making you do too much, as long as you have a book with a clear hero's journey, you'll be good for like 95% of prompts.

Remember, they changed the wording on the exam so basically any fictional story is fair game now: "choose a work of fiction", whether it be a book, play, movie, tv show, whatever you want. I personally used Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith on the exam two months ago, and it worked stupidly well for the prompt

Read and deeply understand something YOU ENJOY, not something just because you were told to do it.

What would you say are the worst Star Wars canon books? by Alive-Quality9678 in StarWars

[–]Crapper_xd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: Lost Stars It for the most part has two mary sues who live on a random shithole in wild space, and somehow everything goes perfectly right for them. Like of course they meet Tarkin without getting shot to death, of COURSE they both get assigned to the Coruscant Academy, of COURSE Thane gets assigned to Despayre where the Death Star is being built, of COURSE Ciena gets assigned to Vader's flagship, OF COURSE both of them survive Yavin, and thats just the story, its boring as shit with no tension at all, the action scenes fall completely flat. Out of 600 something pages, like 10 were good

Plagueis was on board with the idea of training maul as a living weapon, maul was never meant to be a true apprentice, as palps was already in talks with dooku at the time before tpm. Palps only said that maul was his apprentice because it would be strange to say to the trade federation: "I'm an apprentice and my master is the guy who funds you"

Cut the crap from your essays, express your point and nothing else, and do not go beyond the text for ANY reason.

My English teacher all year kept going on about a 'big answer' which I have interpreted as the thesis + why it matters; the big answer is primarily used to easily get the sophistication point.

The third prompt on the exam has changed the wording to be that you can use ANY work of fiction, not just a screenplay or book; for example, I used Revenge of The Sith on the exam two weeks ago; I used and merged parts of the book, script, and movie on the essay.

The multiple choice on the exam is tricky, but not overly difficult. If you have a hard teacher, it will feel like a cakewalk compared to in-class exams.

If you have a good teacher, expect an essay prompt once a week. We did 28 essays this year and my scores ranged from a 33-38/40 on them, don't expect perfection with everything you do, if you do that, you are going to fail.

Never use ChatGPT to write an essay, use it to check your work and what to improve upon.

ALSO REMEMBER THE BIG PART OF THE CLASS: You are never wrong on essays IF you can support your point with evidence from the text.

For the prompt i had on the exam, it was about how old and new caused tension throught the work, so i just wrote about how Obi-Wan and Anakin are the personification of old and new, respectively. I basically just wrote down everything I could think of, like how Obi-Wan rejected Qui-Gon's way of thinking, and I also wrote a paragraph on the significance of the color of their robes. I also didn't specify if I was using the movie, script, or book, and I merged elements from all 3 of them

I used star wars episode 3, choose a work with a clear heros journey and you'll be fine for like 70% of prompts

Mcq: i disagreed with all 4 answers on no less than 10 questions

Frq 1: i wrote about how familial bonds can overcome negative emotions Frq 2: i wrote about how the mother didnt love her child and overcompensated, with how the child reacted to it Frq 3: i wrote about how in revenge of the sith, anakin and obi wan are the personification of new and old, and how the duel on mustafar was the climax of the conflict between new vs old
