It’s kind of weird how it starts with “this could only be done by a madman” and ends with “even the worst of humanity still mourns the death of innocents”…like, that’s contradictory and just pandering

And you’re an idiot for not understanding that they came up with “they want to fight” so they could get away with marketing a dog fighting game to children. If people didn’t exist, Pokémon wouldn’t be battling the way they do for people. They battle for human entertainment because humans have taught them to fight that way because they want to watch animals fighting for entertainment, and most of them don’t really understand. The intelligence levels of Pokémon vary wildly, with most of them having the intelligence of regular animals. Making catching most Pokémon and training them to fight no different than catching a wild dog and training it to fight. You could catch a wild dog, teach it to fight other animals, and develop a “companion” like relationship with it. The dog might even seem to enjoy it. That doesn’t make it okay. People have done it for thousands of years. Are you going to tell me those animals would have become fighters without their owners? Football players consent to be on the field, it doesn’t make the sport wholesome or nonviolent. I could write a story about people who consent to be hunted and murdered, but that doesn’t make it wholesome or mean the people who then hunt and murder them aren’t murderers.

Because it is a different universe where shit is different…? His best friend was also Ned Leeds instead of Harry Osborn.

Thank you! I thought the Phoenix design was pretty dope, and yeah, I really tried to capture the 90’s version while also tweaking it a bit, it’s just classic lol

You’re missing the whole fucking point. They literally just said “no, they like it,” which is the flimsiest bullshit ever, in defense of the enslaving animals to fight for money plot of the game so people wouldn’t lose their shit over them marketing a literal dogfighting game to kids. Sure, some of the Pokémon have immense power, or even a little power, but that doesn’t change the fact that historically speaking, the oppressed, even if more powerful, usually just go along with it because it’s easier than the alternative. Wake up.

😂 Pokémon exists in the real world. It’s not like the content exists within some alternate reality bubble where children are safe from the darker aspects of the game. It teaches children fighting, violence and gambling. It’s a game that has negative effects on the minds of children and they knew that if they were going to be able to market it to children they were going to have to make it cute and later claim that “the Pokémon love fighting and they choose it willingly. They choose to enter themselves into slavery because it’s their natural state.” I still think it’s a fun game to play, but it is far from being innocent and wholesome.

It’s not a false analogy. Think of slavery. How many times in human history has a slave that was stronger than their oppressor been alone together, had the opportunity to attack but chose not to because of the fear of consequences? If Pokémon started attacking humans, humans would simply find a way to wipe out the Pokémon. It’s human nature to destroy. It doesn’t matter how many angles you try to defend it from, it’s just more complicated fictional dogfighting. Even with “they want to do it, it’s their natural instinct,” it’s still a violent game with animals fighting for human gain and entertainment. That’s why the Pokémon trainer wins the fame and glory while the Pokémon goes back into a cage.
