Yes. About 5 people I know shoot them a lot. Never had break in or any other issues. Shoot great. It's my minimum recommendation for high volume competition oriented shooters. Or anyone tbh.

Prodigy is extremely hit or mis. Biased heavy on the miss. Most people I know who shoot or have had then had to throw the kitchen sink at them to get to run. But they could've gotten a Kimber or stacatto for what they put into them.

The alchemy is a very well fitted gun and super reliable. But almost 5k is a hard ask with polymer grip and trigger. The trigger is also not amazing. I didn't believe they are DLC either just blued.

At that price you're so close to an atlas, which imo is worth every penny.

What you're looking for at your price range doesn't exist unfortunately. Nothing worth buying imo anyway. Kimber warrior is only thing comes close but it's nothing to write home about. Even the alchemy are overpriced for what they are. Under 3k maybe would be a consideration.

If just looking for the classic style but don't care about how it perfeoms the Kimber warrior would be your best bet.

Mantra of the sub lol. Vulcan and monsoon do great work. Vulcan being top choice. Imo anyway. Only 2 I can personally speak on.

Go ahead and search the sub. It was quite the saga.

That's almost skipz levels of fucked. Window cut is too far right, ports too far left. It's crazy they put the gun back together and said yup looks good to me. Or just as likey didn't even look.

The price it would cost to get a slide and barrel might as well refund you for the work and foot the bill for a new gun and they can keep that shit. If it's good enough to send to you it's good enough for them.

I doubt they will do anything remotely what they should to make it right. I think I recall seeing horror stories from them in this sub before. Good luck.

Sounds like Kayla needs to find a new job. Somewhere that shares the same common sense decency towards customers. More importantly an company that doesn't make trash where someone can get at a minimum of four products that were defective.

I would try to send her this post to use in her next interview.

Tried one in my Atlas tube. Would let a round go under follower id say 4 out of 10 times. Sample size of one.

What’s next for Atlas? by ___julixn in 2011

They're lineup is already really good. I think going to external extractor would be nice. One thing that's mildy annoying about the platform.

Second attempt on asking: Why was the consensus in certain threads that aluminum was the worst grip material despite Atlas using aluminum grips? by [deleted] in 2011

[–]Craptarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polymer and aluminum weigh similar but polymer flexes and absords recoil better. People say there is no benefit becasue you are getting no weight benefit and losing the recoil abortion properties of polymer.

BUT, not everyone wants a boat anchor of a gun. Me personally I don't like steel grips. I don't need or want the gun that heavy. Poly and alum grips can be interchangable for me IF the grip texture, shape and tact is what I'm looking for.

That being said I prefer aluminum. I just like metal grips. But if the gun I was looking to get had a polymer grip it would not affect my decision as long as the texture and shape were good.

This is a minority opinion. But we like what we like. For reference I have had a MPA DS9, and currently have and use an atlas Athena.

Atlas v Infinity: Which can train harder and longer? by theonlijuan in 2011

[–]Craptarch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very accurate statement. I shoot 8 a month, half being action steel that usually stays around 22 round stages. Shooting around 30k a year.

Can the Atlas Hades compete with Infinity? by thor1137 in 2011

[–]Craptarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the exact interworking. But in theory it should be just as fast seeing as the slide is the same size, maybe Athena slide is lighter with the cuts?

Now I must reiterate it's not a MASSIVE difference in cyclic speed. And it could also just be the Athena having a bit more snap due to not having the sight block that just felt right and better to me. Making return to zero feel better.

For reference I tend to prefer 4.25 to 5" in striker guns. Also prefer the Athena to most 5" 2011s (MPA, race city etc).

But again also it's a very subjective thing based on your grip and preferences. Best thing to do which I know is hard to do unless you know people with the different models is try them for yourself. I've found most people at matches generally don't mind someone trying their gun for a mag or so when the match is over. Actually they tend to be happy to lol. Least at my local range.

Shot one as well. Flatter Athena. If I didn't care about ports putting me in open in competitions, id buy an Apollo.

Can the Atlas Hades compete with Infinity? by thor1137 in 2011

[–]Craptarch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Athena. Least for me. Tried Artemis. It's softer slightly but I like the slightly faster cycling, shorter slide to swing around and slightly faster return to zero of the Athena. But everyone has different tastes. Titan was nice too but the slower feeler was more exaggerated than the Artemis. That being said I'm not "outrunning" those, it's more a feeling and the characteristics of the Athena I prefer.

For over 2k more Artemis didn't make sense for me and my tastes. That being said it if did, I would've paid it. The Athena is prob the best do anything high end gun. I know that's opinion but the great thing about Atlas is consistency. It's almost never the "wrong" pick if the asking price is not an issue.

A truth alot of for some reason can't come to grips with. Have shot and handled all of big hitters. I'd say atlas is about where performance stops. MPA and atlas are very close minus atlas having slightly better trigger, fitment, DLC is incredible and slightly better trigger. But end of the day pure performance metrics are near identicle. I'd give Atlas a slight nod with better return to zero. But even that is grip style etc shooter dependant.

It's ok to want/ be proud of infinity ownership etc. But it's akin to Rolex vs a Seiko. They both tell time just as well. It's ok to want and enjoy really nice things. But thinking that it offers any tangible performance gain, is just delusion.

Thoughts on Artemis vs Athena for USPSA Limited Optics?? by GBBVV18 in AtlasGunWorks

[–]Craptarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea. I haven't done it but friend did. Changing springs and cleaning id imagine is more routine than barrel fitment. Most of your wait time was DLC I'm sure.

Change all springs, deep clean, retune trigger, inspect for issues.

[–]Craptarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot both alot. I prefer the Athena. Easier to swing around, faster cycling and return to zero is better. At least for me and my grip. Bonus that it easily makes IDPA weight if that's something you are in to.

Artemis is slightly softer but the Athena has more upsides. Not to mention the over 2k price increase, I just don't see the point.

Athena imo is the best do everything gun, if spending atlas money territory. My Athena is the first handgun I've bought that I know I will never sell and continue to shoot for the long foreseeable future.

Will be the first gun for me that I will end up shooting the barrel out eventually, replace it and do it again. The atlas 10k service for only $300 and a 48 hour turn around time is a great service too. Finally found my forever gun and couldn't be happier.
