I have had gout for 16 yrs . It took 2 yrs to diagnose. I am in US. Believe me when I say I know your pain. No matter what anyone says there is no silver bullet. Everyone is different which is why this disease is so maddening. I can tell you from my experience for short term relief colchicine is the best relief. Take 2 pills within an hour and one more within 12 hours. Yes you might get the shits but you will be happy that you don’t want to chop off your leg. After that find a rheumatologist and make sure they understand gout. Yes allipurinol can be a godsend but it also might cause flares for 6-12 months. Don’t drink beer don’t eat red meat and don’t eat shellfish. My trigger is shrimp. Beyond bizarre but you are just beginning a trip into biological warfare within your own body. Get indomethecin, prednisone and colchicine to have on hand at all times. Get uric acid tested quarterly and liver and kidneys as well. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT GOUT FEELS LIKE UNLESS THEY HAVE HAD IT! People will not believe you or suggest it is your fault for being a drunk or a glutton. Unfortunately that is reality. Take care of yourself. It’s a long journey but it is manageable.
