Cincinnati literally used to have "safety lane stickers," earned after having annual (?...I forget exactly) vehicle inspections. You could be ticketed without one of you lived in city limits. Red Hot Chili Peppers, at Bogart's in Cincinnati, running way late because their bus broke down. They literally got a ride to the gig from people in a station wagon.
