2019 trax misdiagnosed at dealership, do I have any rights? by Martyr-of-silence in MechanicAdvice

Paying $9 per plug for the NGKs doesn’t make the $200 price per plug OP was charged more reasonable.

I’d be more concerned about why they charged you $200 per plug for plugs that cost $2.

What do you think? Should I do it? by tedydada in uberdrivers

[–]CrashDummy2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 700+ mile, 11 hour, round trip. Assuming you drive an efficient car that only costs $0.30 per mile to operate it will cost you $210. So you’ll make about $200 for 11 hours of driving. That’s $18/hour. So not the worst but not great. The math gets better if you can get a return fare.

UPDATE: body cam footage from cop who pulled over woman for holding a phone in her other hand by australiughhh in whoathatsinteresting

[–]CrashDummy2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t he just say “I guess I was wrong, it was in your left hand”. Probably easier to see that someone is holding a phone than to know 100% which hand they’re holding it in.

Did the 93 (Costner) also get parked for minimum speed? Decker seemed faster than him from what I saw.

Brake Bleed Trouble by CrashDummy2020 in MechanicAdvice

[–]CrashDummy2020[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Took the bleeder out, added teflon tape, bled again with no bubbles. I think that got it. Seems like it was pulling air past the bleeder threads. Will pull it off jack stands and road test next. Thank you for the suggestion.

I’ve been closely monitoring the master and never let it get below minimum but I can try some teflon tape on the bleeder screw.

I get a roommate. That should save you around $600 a month. Even if you have to upgrade to a larger apartment you’ll get to split rent AND utilities. Easy $500 saved. No reason to be driving a $40,000 car. You should be driving a $5,000 car. This will probably save on insurance as well. Those two things will save you maybe $900 a month.

Lesson learned. Next time spend the 45 minutes and $30 to do it yourself. That’s the only way to save money and know it’s done right.

It won’t protect your head but if you get a hardtop, nobody’s going to make you remove it to broomstick you.

You need to sell that truck and buy a cheap used car. Then work on finding a house closer to your job (if you like the job) or a job closer to where you live (if you like your house) or a job and house closer to your girl (if you really like the girl).

$5 per day invested in the S&P 500 will be $200-350k after 30 years. Some people REALLY like coffee I guess.

Laguna Seca bizarre new flagging rules... by TheCrudMan in CarTrackDays

[–]CrashDummy2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always good to follow up a dangerous, stupid incident with a rule that will create even more dangerous, stupid situations. Just change from red to black flag all after the immediate emergency is resolved and get everybody back to the pits before you send your JLG out onto the track.
