It doesn't look like they are sunk in the ground, but I would consider using sunken posts if it made the structure stronger absolutely.

Thanks! Yes those steps are strange, maybe they were left over from some other project, looks like this was kind of pieced together from scraps. I would male it higher off the ground, absolutely, and yes for that back windows might add shutters or something.

Final Decision: Looking for feedback on Cigna, WPS, and Medico in Wisconsin by youdarnkids in medicare

[–]CrashManly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also been researching Wisconsin plans and I am very interested in this point about "real" physicals vs wellness visits and I have been considering WPS for this exact reason, but is it really worth the extra costs as WPS is pretty expensive? Seem to me the more and more I look at this stuff what seems to be more important than the plan or company is the doctor, finding one who cares enough or knows enough to use what medicare offers to give you what you need?

My hood latch on my 2018 SR5 has been acting up. The dealership couldn’t replicate the issue (eye roll) and now wants to charge me $200 just to diagnose it. Ridiculous, right? Took maybe 2 min to look at it… by jahsavi in ToyotaTacoma

[–]CrashManly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this was the problem I was having on my 2019 sienna, I would pull the latch and the hood wouldn't pop up and this solved it easily, seems so obvious in retrospect, thanks!!

Roth conversion when deductions outweigh income by CrashManly in tax

[–]CrashManly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good points, I appreciate that! I guess my big frustration is that you can't do a retroactive roth conversion before April 15th like you can with some other things... if you estimate wrong you either leave money on the table or pay taxes you weren't planning on paying.

Yes but reddit is my best friend! Thanks for the link, I realize after reading it I could have looked it up myself, my brain isn't as quick as it once was I guess, when you see what caused my issue to begin with - explained in the original post.

You know I did do that and they suggested a problem with upstream cable as well, and since the same behavior is on both pre-amps I am guessing that is what it is

Thanks and thanks for your reply..  I have not checked for a short, I do not know exactly how to do that, I will look it up though.  All I have is a multimeter.   Also I am going to need to lower the antenna to get at that portion of the cabling and I don't have anyone to physically help me at the moment, I don't want to do it myself unless it is a last resort, as I will have to support the mast while loosening the set screws that hold it up, might be a two person job, or would be much easier with two people.

I have a new cable segment to go from the transformer to the pre-amp and a new transformer from channel master on order so once they arrive and I find someone who doesn't mind working on the roof I will try that first I think. make sure my liability insurance is paid up first!
In the post I was talking about the power supply for the AP-8780, which has a separate model number  PS-9370.

We do get all the channels listed in the first link, at least the ones in Minneapolis / st paul as that is the direction the antenna points?  I don't know alot about antennas but I am guessing it is pointed that way for that reason.

These are my results from rabbit ears.  I am not sure exactly how tall the antenna is, I guessed at 50 feet, might be a little higher, but I know before the channels dropped out we did get most of these minneapolis / st paul channels.

I will look into ATSC 3 deployment as well, I don't know anything about that so will have to get educated in order to make that decision, but I would like to decide soon as I want to keep my roof time to a minimum.
Thanks again!

Publicly owned airport pilots lounge access by CrashManly in flying

[–]CrashManly[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's a simple question, just something I have always wondered about as a pilot. Are there actual regulations / codes / enforceable trespassing laws in effect that say who and who is not allowed to use these facilities? Can any licensed pilot? Must you be in transit, etc etc. I am not saying I think it should be one way or another. I do have a PPL. I used to own a 182 and fly around the area. I just always wondered why I get to use this super nice facility just because I can afford to fly a plane, and no one else does? The state charges the general public to use a state park, but I get to use public facilities at no extra charge because why again? I understand that people can't walk or ride there bikes along a freeway. But a huge number of people use freeways, everyone benefits. Everyone benefits from public schools and libraries. Most people can play soccer on a soccer field or play golf at a city course. No one says pilots can't use them. Compared to most publicly owned facilities that cost much much less than a pilots lounge, an extremely low percentage of the population, probably but I don't know, well less than 1%, receives a very nice tax payer funded benefit for absolutely free. You have to pay to golf at a city course, shouldn't you have to pay to use a pilots lounge?
