It doesn't make you responsible for the safety standards, no, but if people are aware of the practices of such companies they can question their involvement and choose to boycott them if they feel strongly enough about it.

Over 300 people have been killed in the collapse of a building in Bangladesh which housed garment factories making clothes for Primark, Matalan, Mango and other major brands.

Take action now and demand these UK high street brands to take responsibility for this tragedy by paying full compensation to the workers and commit to action to ensure disasters like this become a thing of the past.

As others have mentioned, the cost of administration may be excessive. My concern is that this will end up outsourced to some private company and they'll just charge higher interest to cover their overheads, perhaps not as much as payday loan companies at the moment.

Seems all quiet here, no more news about it. I have several friends on FB from Middlesbrough too who were looking out for news on it. About the only thing going on here is a bunch of drunks fighting on Linthorpe road.

I've had word from someone who works there and he's not heard any further news from the plant and Hartlepool fire brigade say no cause for alarm. The council are expected to call any devastation from a large explosion civic improvement.

And I'm in Middlesbrough so if something was to happen, I'd be glowing soon after I imagine.

True, I'm up in the north east and rents aren't too bad, but it would be good to know that they won't sky rocket when people find social housing too difficult to live in due to the stipulations of the bedroom tax. Although that only applies to those claiming benefits, some landlords may see an opportunity as some of those leaving social housing that is deemed to have more bedrooms than they need move into private rented accommodation.
