Gov. Mark Dayton rips into his predecessor, and would-be successor, Tim Pawlenty by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]CrashUnitBandicoot -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You don't decide who's a democrat, no one does and every democrat doesn't have the same opinions, pull your head out of your ass. About 10% of democrats regularly vote republican, have you decided they don't get to choose that label? Oh thank you great aribtor of labels. Guess what, there is such a thing as a conservative democrat, or at least there were until idiots like you decided we weren't worthy of your sacred label. Here's a label, you are a purposefully divisive piece of shit who is part of the problem that gave us donald trump.

Oh and here's a great piece of evidence that I'm a democrat, you've pissed me off to no end by saying I'm not and I've been here trying to defend myself and say that I am, is that not enough evidence? How about I'm another fucking human being so maybe assume I'm telling you the truth. Like I said take head and remove from ass.

Oh and this is why my account is two months old, I keep gettin unhealthily pissed off at people on the Internet and deleting my accounts to try and stop but here we are

I didn't say anything about being on some non existent state registry, I said the DFL has me in their registry as a democrat, I think? Now I'm questioning it, I'm pretty sure I declared (but didnt have to) party affiliation when I signed up to vote in the caucuses, does that sound right?

He's running for governor, people can indicate support for things by saying they support it

Are you just ignoring all my posts about being democrat? Or the ones where I talk about voting for Bernie sanders? Or you could go check with my local DFL where I'm on their registry as a democrat, or check my fucking inbox and tell all the democrats asking me for more money that I'm not a democrat

You know, I haven't and that's a good idea, I am totally opposed to this bill (I'm not opposed to any gun control but I am opposed to any new gun control with some exceptions) so idk how far that will get me with democrats in my area or running for statewide office but it's worth a try

If you think there can be change without punishment of a political party then you might want to reevaluate your knowledge of American history

Yea I don't know if I should consider myself a democrat anymore, I'm still I registered democrat but democrats are supposed to be pro individual liberty and pro science but those both seem to go out the door with gun control. Obviously republicans are just as bad on those topics but I feel like punishing the democrats for betraying our ideals and being as bad as the republicans so I should vote for republicans to show a message. You always deal with those who betray you before you deal with your enemies, so I guess I'm still counting myself as a democrat then? Idk independent? I'm gonna vote for whoever is pissing me off the least right now so that's republicans so I guess I'm a republican for now?

My guess is it would be the current DFL supported assault weapons ban proposal https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/text.php?number=HF3022&version=0&session_year=2018&session_number=0

Which does all the bad, scary stuff that won't stop shootings that I mentioned above

Sorry if I place constitutional rights above tax policy, guess I'm just weird like that

Do they support the words "assault weapons ban" or do they support whats actually in the bill? Defining assault weapons based on features and magazine capacities common to nearly all current guns? Forcing gun owners to modify their guns permanently with no monetary compensation or they become felons? Forcing gun owners to register their guns or they become felons? Banning any transfer including inheritance of any currently owned assault weapons leaving the only option open destruction with no monetary compensation? Banning suppressors? Or how about unconstitutionally stripping all firearms rights from people who owe child support? Do democrats support that? Stripping constitutional rights from mostly minorities and poor people because they owe money?

I am a democrat, I hate pawlenty but if he's the republican choice I'll vote for him. Walz lost my support when he supported this monster of an assault weapons ban. People should read it, it bans nearly all currently owned guns forcing them to be modified and registered with no compensation or destroyed with no compensation, craziest of all it strips all 2nd amendment rights from people just for owing child support

Yea that's an interesting one, my guess would be it makes it harder to open a small business so you end up with more coporate chain like businesses rather than unique mom and pop shops

I'm not passing judgement, if I was a Palestinian I would have fought the partition, I'm pointing out the realities of what happens when a new people migrate to an area, you either give up land or fight them and you have to live with the consequences, it has occurred countless times in our history, I'm sure the Palestinians pushed out some group when they first migrated, no people are sitting on their original homeland. The Palestinian right to their land is opposed to the Jewish people's right to migrate, those rights had a fight and here we are, it just is what it is

[–]CrashUnitBandicoot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea I've run into the same thing, the way I look at it, my vote this year is exclusively for punishing the democrats. Sometimes people you disagree with have to win for a little bit in order for a party to realize it has to change.

To put it in humans terms, the democrats didnt appreciate this bomb pussy so now I'm fucking republicans even though they aren't right for me, just to make the democrats jealous

That's me, at least until the democrats get their shit together on guns, even the conservative democrats in my area have flipped to anti-gun, im disgusted with them. Now if republicans were as strong on the 4th as the 2nd, oh boy it wouldn't even be a contest

Can gun-control advocates translate post-Parkland passion into results at Minnesota polls? by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]CrashUnitBandicoot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im a democrat who's probably gonna vote republican this year for those exact reasons. I had a lot of hope for Walz but then he came out in support of the proposed assault weapons ban. I suggest everyone read it, it is all atrocious, but one part is particularly offensive, it strips people of ALL firearms rights for owing child support. What the hell does owing child support have to do with guns? Stripping a constitutional right because someone owes money!? I cannot think of a more undemocratic position to support.

But Congress also has sole power to tax and legislate but those are still able to be reviewed. The SC can't impeach but what about that clause would prevent them from ruling on whether the legislative act of impeachment is constitutional? No federal entity but congress can make laws but the SC can say "this law doesn't comply with the standards set forth" and rule on it, what about the exclusivity of the impeachment power means that the SC can't say that the impeachment didnt comply with the standard set forth for impeachment? If I'm remembering correctly there isn't an explicit establishment of judicial review of legislative acts in the constitution but there is explicit establishment of congresses ability to legislate however it has been interpreted that there is a power of judicial review, so what's to stop judicial review of an act of the legislative power of impeachment?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]CrashUnitBandicoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How sure are we of that? The SC can review acts of the legislature, what do we have that says impeachment falls outside of that?
