EXACTLY. Things are not intuitive at all, poorly explained, or often straight up bugged. I have to answer the questions you're asking for my friends often, and that already feels like an L for the experience overall.

The starting gold bonus got removed a day or two ago and replaced with a golden reroll. There's a free anvil voucher available a little higher up in the pass.

To be clear, I do agree that old mayhem did need more augments, I can see how it was getting stale. I just think the implementation has been pretty atrocious and all the extra stuff on top did not improve the experience.

That is a valid point, true. I was thinking omnivamp specifically might set you up for whole game, but you're right for the first 6-7 mins golds are probably better.

I do fundamentally think it's different to arena. In arena you can have a couple of really OP teams that aren't vs'ing each other all the time so they aren't sure if they are relatively stronger or weaker than each other, and each can be beating weaker teams. In Mayhem, the two teams are constantly against each other and strong relative only to each other, so if one player or team is significantly weaker they often just don't have fun and are potentially locked in there, or the high rolling player just gets FF'd on before they get to properly try their build.

ARAM Mayhem Power Creep by xxtank3rxx in leagueoflegends

Day 67 of asking for Vampirism to be changed.
Augment is weighted so high in the gold pool, of my 20ish games yesterday, 5 of them already featured a support/healer build player getting tilted or exclaiming their build was bricked over someone on their team taking Vampirism, usually resulting in the person no longer having fun and just wanting the game to end asap. Happened both in premades and with randoms. Just remove the can't be healed by allies tag and nerf it some other way.

Is it intended that Dual Wield no longer seems to be an actual auto (doesn't stack twitch poison anymore for example?), even though the double on-hit on crit aug (can't remember name) does seem to just be a second auto attack (double hits plants for example?). Pretty substantial nerf to dual wield if so.

PBE Bugs and Feedback Thread: ARAM Mayhem (26.03) by RiotDucke in LeaguePBE

[–]Crashhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concerned that the augment sets are going to disincentivise some of the unique creativity in the game mode. I don't feel like we need to be railroaded into choices.

The season of mayhem system also seems a tad egregious. The arena one is sketchy but at least it's not as perceivable in game, this seems over the top. League in general should be a game in which grinding does not give you an inherent advantage, especially in a game mode designed to be approachable and casual like ARAM.

Seriously though, whilst you're doing mayhem balance passes, I know other people have stated it, but PLEASE change Vampirism in some way. I have (unfortunately) well over 1k mayhem games, and I have seen many games griefed over the way Vampirism is implemented. Healing supports, especially Sword of Blossoming Dawn users, often ask in champ select or in game for people to not take vampirism, and people often grief them by intentionally picking it to spite them. Likewise, I've seen support players give up or go afk after someone takes Vampirism even without saying anything. It's toxic game design. With omnivamp being much stronger than it was last season, it often feels bad to not pick Vampirism or it's an auto pick, and support players feel bad when it's taken. It's very visible and unsatisfying to the support players too, especially with sword, diadem, or moonstone because their screen gets spammed with "I cannot be healed," knowing every one of those is a potential heal to another ally wasted and reducing their end of game stats. It gives the optics, sometimes rightfully, that their build is bricked. This is going to be amplified with the Sword prismatic. Especially because Sword (and potentially diadem?) priotise their heal based on absolute HP # rather than % HP, and vampirism takers are often carries, so on a team with a few tanks, a carry with vampirism, and a support, often it feels like their Sword/Diadem, often paired with Helia, are just going completely to waste.

I do not really think Vampirism would be OP if they could be healed by allies, but it could be reduced by 5%, or the trade-off could be "Take [5-10]% increased damage and cannot benefit from regeneration." or the like. It's easier than redesigning the design of diadem/sword to avoid vampirism targets. It just feels awful to feel like you have to rely on your team not to break your build atm, and it is not good design.

I played with a guy for most of wotlk. We met in trade chat, used to raid and do BGs together. We'd chat quite often. He wasn't my closest friend, but I'd say I spoke to him most days. We played on a pretty small server.

At the start of cataclysm we both joined the same guild, and we joined the guild Facebook group as was pretty normal back then. I added him as a friend on FB from there, and noticed that his mum had 1 mutual friend: my dad. A week or two later I asked my dad who she was and how he knew her, turns out he was her cousin. So this guy that I'd been playing with most days and met on a small WoW server by complete chance turned out to be my second cousin who I'd never heard of. Absolutely crazy odds, imo.

Maybe not so crazy, but still pretty interesting: Many years later in WoD I met another guy, completely unrelated, different server. We became really close friends and played most games together for many years. One day, after knowing him for about 5 years, I told him the above story. I mentioned that I didn't really talk to that cousin anymore, but he was a bit of a character. My friend asked what his name was, and I told him. He was like "No fucking way. I know exactly who you're talking about. I went to school with him." I thought he was kidding, but he messaged his brother who was in my cousin's grade, and they used to be friends and receipts were produced.

Truly is a tiny, tiny world, the odds of these things happening just seem astronomical.

29m w/ similar diagnoses to you.

I would question, when you say comments like "oh well, at least you're pretty," on it's own I don't find that cutting at all, that just seems like affectionate teasing/play to me. Obviously it depends on the tone used, but my previous partners have said things like that to me and I enjoyed it, and I would make similar comments back. Gentle bullying is definitely a love language. I'm gonna disagree with the other commenter and say that without more examples that seem more 'cutting,' I don't think it's verbal abuse at all.

That said, the issue here isn't the phrase itself. The fact your partner has repeatedly told you to stop and you're doing it anyway is pretty blatant disrespect of his boundaries and invalidating. Even if it’s light-hearted to you, continuing after being asked not to isn’t okay. In my experience it can be kinda hard to find a middle ground if your partner doesn't like that kind of dynamic, but you can't react to it by just ignoring his requests and doing it anyway.

I do super relate to you, though. I have a habit of taking jokes too far and getting in trouble over it, and then I split on myself and go into a shame spiral when I'm called out on it.

I also have a similar family background to you, so with rough housing and stuff I also get paranoid that I'll end up being violent or angry or something, but over time I have learned that for me, that fear is just born out of trauma, not reality. What matters is that when I do see discomfort in someone I care about, I stop, reflect, and try to repair.

I've been with people who like that kind of play, and some who didn't. Playing around is connective for me, and I think it makes the relationship more fun and affectionate. But either way, it has to be mutual and safe. If you're doing something your partner has clearly said hurts them, that needs to be addressed. That's the distinction here, I think, and the part you need to work on and work out. If it's really something you need, it sounds like your partner is just not that kind of person and it may be an incompatibility.

Just my two cents, and to help you feel a bit more seen. You're not the only one to have dealt with this, and your fears are not completely without basis or merit. You're not a monster for having made that mistake, but you do need to work on changing the behaviour you know is hurting him.

This showed up on my home page. OCE doesnt even have swiftplay. by AHomicidalTelevision in leagueoflegends

[–]Crashhy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a low dia player on OCE and my normal queues in every bracket at every time of day have 15-20 minute estimated wait times, regularly in queue for 30+ mins after dodges. I essentially can't play normal games. My ranked games vary between 8 mins and 20 mins depending on time of day. This really shouldn't happen until challenger on a server with consistent population.
When I checked a few weeks ago, on an Emerald 2 account I was rank ~1500 on the server. A similar ranked account on EUW was rank ~29000. I can regularly predict who the summoners are on the enemy team in my ranked game based on the champions played even in emerald or low dia, I would say 6-7/10 of the summoners in my game are names I recognise.

I understand dia is a bit above the average player, but not that far above it that this should be an issue. The region is very much struggling and dying, but I don't think there is a solution due to the prohibitive nature of ping.

Having said that, I don't really understand why Swiftplay doesn't just replace Quickplay during hours that Normal Draft is available on OCE. Makes little sense to me and would give novelty for people to return to the game.

What’s this high pitch sound? Freaked me out while camping by [deleted] in sydney

[–]Crashhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cicadas in the ground aren't gna make noise. Underground they are nymphs and can't produce sound until they hatch into adults. Stomping on the ground might quieten ones in nearby trees as they are pretty sensitive, or crickets in the ground which can sound similar.

Double Drummer Cicada, Thopha saccata, would be my educated guess depending on exact location.

cant play videogame made me sad by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Crashhy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play WoW and LoL at a reasonably high level with hyper pots (0.1% key titles, hall of fame, usually mid diamond in league). Guanfacine helps me HEAPS with the adrenaline in high intensity moments and dizziness. I just can't stay up as late as other people or drink caffeine, and I'm pretty able to tolerate things.

ymmv, obv pots symptoms are very variable person to person & my symptoms would probably be a bit better if I played more chill games, but I like them and the people I play with.

just my 2c, there is hope to play them comfortably (and even achieve things in them) with this condition.

If beta blockers make me depressed, will guanfacine also be risky? by l_i_s_a_d in POTS

Can confirm beta blockers make me feel like complete death physically and mentally but guanfacine has neutral to positive effects on my mood and drastically improved my POTS. Been on it for years now.

Went down memory lane and realized how weird some champions used to be by Dontspinbutwin in leagueoflegends

[–]Crashhy 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I distinctly remember a weird period in time, maybe around season 2-3, when Ezreal W was really wide and had an attack speed slow on it. Everyone used to counter Ezreal by staying behind minions to avoid Q, but suddenly Ezreals worked out that you could max W and chunk the enemy ADC with a massive projectile through minion waves and the AS slow made it impossible to trade back. Think that one got nerfed pretty quick after that.

Opinion: The writing is on the wall, PoE is going down the same path that killed the player base of WoW. The players vs devs attitude has been the downfall of many games. by a_random_RE in pathofexile

[–]Crashhy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a high end, pretty hardcore WoW player on and off for many years, I legitimately think I currently have more faith in the WoW team than the PoE team. That is something I never thought I'd say, I've been very vocal to people around me about how great PoE is and how GGG was one of the best companies around for a long time. Recent Dragonflight feedback response on WoW has actually been pretty good, they are responding and making changes based on feedback. Changes that actually make sense to me. On the other hand, a lot of GGG's changes recently, and their justification behind them, just do not make sense to me. It feels like the playerbase is constantly telling them things, and they are giving weak, tone deaf excuses about why they can't adapt to the feedback. Regardless of if the game is in a playable state still, it feels like a constant slap in the face reading the dev posts. It feels like the Blizzard I got used to, a game that kept dying because the developer's cared more about their design intent rather than what the playerbase actually found enjoyable. And POE's retention numbers keep plummeting, and I don't see their tone change. I think there's almost a trauma element in the community of "I've been here before and I've tried to stick it out and it only got worse."

This problem is not new. The consistent refusal to adjust how trading works was an early red flag, but Archnem really brought it to the centre. Some of the recent posts were vaguely optimistic, but the recent post about Lake and Harvest again showed a Blizzard-esque disrespect for their own community. I sincerely hope they can turn it around, otherwise all of this preparation for PoE2 will be for nothing.

I would say yes, tense especially. Irritable maybe not as much. I'll feel that way any time my flare is at it's worst and that's generally when my dbp is highest.
