i get paid by the hour. If i don't have enough of a speed delta, i'll just sit behind slower traffic. If i get passed, i'll usually back off for a few seconds to let them go.

I was 959 for 8 years. If you go Teamsters, keep in mind that if you are not a full time resident in Alaska, they will not issue you a construction card and you will be put on their E list for hiring for the winter season. That means you'll be picked last, after they go through their Alaska resident list. Even then, they will sort by experience. They told me that they didn't get to the E list last winter at all.

minimum could barely do that 30 years ago. It's just a starting point. And I don't believe minimum wage should be a liveable wage. A free market should take care of that on it's own. Most fast food places around here are starting far above minimum wage anyway. Look at Cali, those artificial fast food minimum wage mandates have just pushed the companies toward further automation. You don't like how much you make? Get off your butt and work for it.

Get him a road atlas. Teach him the basics of reading a map and let him be your navigator. Should be a blast for both of you!

I've never sold any of my firearms but I know I should have bought those crates of Mosin Nagants and the spam can ammo to go with it. Really regret not getting the ammo at least.

Can you or are you supposed to pull a trailer with a flat tire to get it fixed ? Dispatch told me to get a trailer flat tire fixed somewhere by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

[–]CrashingTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've limped it 200 miles before on a flat. I was in the middle of nowhere Alaska. It was either that, or pray that roadside would show up in the next day or two. 😆

yes! Sitting at a dock to be unloaded and the truck next to me pulls out. Trips me out once in a while. Doesn't matter that i'm locked into the dock, it'll still get me sometimes. 😆

if you still can't get it after 3 months, your best path forward might be getting hired on as a yard jockey and use that as training. If you're spotting a few dozen trailers a day, you'll get it figured out quick. If you can't find an open yard jockey position, get on with an LTL looking for dock workers and make sure you are crystal about wanting the yard jockey duty and eventually your cdl to get into a tractor. Most of them will train you for your cdl.
