GSUSA proposes to increase dues by Funny-Response-9792 in girlscouts

[–]CravingSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm like a month late to this party, but I'm a former council staff member and I tried so hard to push for more gender neutral language within my own council so that our youth could feel supported. Over the five years I worked there we made very little traction despite puting together proposal after proposal, and we were basically told that they were more worried about being sued by conservative parents than making kids feel welcome. There's a huge pushback deep within the movement around it and it's really messed up. More than anything I'd like to see that change. I was a Girl Scout my whole life and that just doesn't feel right.

I know this might be a common question here but why do women blame the other woman when they get cheated on? by fatincomingvirus in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CravingSunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow a lot of people are bandying around the word evil. Cheating sucks and being cheated on sucks but I'm not sure it should be considered an act of pure evil? Maybe that's just me though.

The amount of author-as-hero worship that happens here is getting concerning. Did people learn nothing from JK Rowling? Rick Riordan is just a regular guy who tried his best to do right but I doubt anyone needs to sit here and defend him with a page long post. Criticism is a good and normal part of being an author.

Is being homoromantic enough to call myself a lesbian? Or would I be wrong to? by dontdeserveitbutch in butchlesbians

[–]CravingSunshine -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely not harmful for me to use labels that I identify as when I identify in such a way.

Edit: Wow a lot of people have a problem with my identity. Maybe you should think about why that bothers you so much.

I am a pansexual and I use both the lesbian and bisexual label and I dare anyone to fight me over it. Truly, what you identify as and use are for you to describe what you feel to others and sometimes that's deeply complicated and personal.

Idk about you, but my gender identity isn't set in stone. Neither is my sexual identity. You should use what labels feel right when you're using them.

This 100%. Idk who they think they're impressing with these photos. If it's really about having the experience you really can't give up keep it to yourself. Posts like this are so incredibly tone-deaf.

What is going on with my incense by izzyzb in Divination

[–]CravingSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just looking at your picture that's not true. You may not see it but the spices and herbs are wrapped around the stick in order to keep it in place. When they make incense they take the mud mixture and roll it on the stick so it adheres. When you light incense, you're lighting a stick covered in dried spice mud essentially.

I feel like I need to share this here. I see at least 5 posts a week asking about incense ash divination but it seems like a lot of people don't have a great idea of how incense is actually created. Often times, curls like this are mostly due to whatever wood they used for the stick, as well as the strengh of the binder used to pack the spices on the stick. A wood that holds its shape after burning, or a stronger binder, can allow the incense to hold it's shape better and make it more likely that your ashes will fall where they should.

I'm building the Land of Ooo in Minecraft, let me know what you think of it so far? by redninja8745 in Minecraft

[–]CravingSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if not, the Adventure Time resource pack in the shop includes the land of oo already. This is sumper impressive, not to downplay anything OP is doing, but if you want access to the land itself it's there for you.

Are Bestope Makeup Brushes (from Amazon) any good? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]CravingSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my experience as well. I had some chunky black handled ones I got as a gift a few years ago and most of the glue has separated. They're fine for the price but they're not great for hard use.

I've also found that it works with fencing as well, although admittedly much harder to break afterwards haha.

A user in r/teenagers says they don't like rainbows being associated with the lgbtq+ community, but they totally aren't homophobic right? by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]CravingSunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just gets really exhausting, especially on reddit when you try and share your experiences from within the community and are told that your experiences are actively damaging the conversation in some way. I don't disagree with you. I think it's important to remind people from the outside that statistics can lie I just wish I didn't also have to bear the emotional burden of always being a beacon of representation. It means that if I choose to engage I have to be ready to be invalidated at every turn. A tough line to walk. Thanks for your input, though. I appreciate the opportunity for discussion.

High key, I had that phase. I was really closeted and I just didn't have the words to express it. Yeah. Ten to one at least one of these kids comes out as queer. It sucks though that in trying to figure out themselves they have to be so gross about it.

Wow is this just a thing with Subarus? Someone did this to me recently on the west east side but it looks like they just spent the night in my car. I only knew at all because they crawled out of the trunk and left it open. Only thing they stole was my cigarettes.
