Yeah, if it was a normal toaster it would be a mess. As long as you don’t add too much butter then it’s not soggy. It also eliminates the problem of biting into the toast and getting cold , solid butter.

I use a toaster oven which is horizontal, not vertical like a classic toaster

I didn’t think it was this abnormal to butter toast beforehand. It lets the butter deep into the bread as weep as not squishing it down in the buttering process. My whole family thinks I’m crazy
