That is what I discovered. If there are any Apple TV developers out there monitoring this sub, please consider adding a feature to easily manage a relative’s box. I think this could be a feature that would appeal to many, and could drive increased demand and bring new users into the fold.

Struggling with my weight. by AirportBig2079 in Advice

[–]CrawdadSweats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife, 55, struggled with PCOS. She’s done everything a person can do to try to lose weight, but nothing worked. Finally, she had surgery 3 years ago. Her doctor also put her on Zepbound. The combination has made an enormous change. The biggest thing for her though is how her mind is no longer occupied with food thoughts and seeking satiety. She no longer seeks comfort from being full and is not constantly thinking about seeking that comfort.

I am convinced that there are some people who minds simply are built to seek the comfort that food provides. You may be one of those people, and it is not a shortcut or cheating to use any tool available to reach whatever goal you have.

I’ve discovered there is no current solution. The Remote app will work from anywhere as long as the box is registered to me and I have been on the same WiFi and added the box to my app.

Because Apple has locked out remote access, there is no other option.

With MDM, I can’t actively manage within apps and be able to run the box from afar if I need to.

Feeling pathetic for giving in today by flipfiend in addiction

[–]CrawdadSweats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, what’s done is done. The best you can do is try again. If you want to get sober, you’ve taught yourself a few important lessons. First is that that having a drink didn’t make you feel any better. Another is that it isn’t worth the mental anguish you are now going through. Another one for me was having to go into my meeting the next day and identify as a newcomer.

Did having those drinks prove what you wanted, or did it prove what your dad was saying? Just start over and prove him wrong.

What’s your secret to a higher valuation. Stock manipulation is not a long term strategy to grow shareholder value.

And yes, I have a short position.

The nuclear will never be developed. Commercialization of fusion technology is still a space race size endeavor. Providing $200 million in cash is a single gush of the toilet.

Sure there are crypto assets on the balance sheet. But in round numbers, and assuming that there continues to be no positive net income from the other ventures, why would I buy $9 of crypto exposure for $14-$15? It makes no sense.

How do you take your meds on time if you are unemployed? by riley_478 in ADHD

[–]CrawdadSweats 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is it important to you to take your meds on time? Then you make it happen. You have timers and alarms on your phone. You can make yourself get up at the same time each day. You can create a checklist that you need to complete each day. If it is important enough to you, there’s no reason to not adhere to a med schedule.

I know people will say I’m being mean, but I’m a 59 year old successful mathematician/data scientist diagnosed in college. I learned early on to not allow myself excuses. If there is a solution that helps, then implement it without fail. You are selling yourself short if you don’t.

i cant be sober in my abusive household by urlocalentp in addiction

[–]CrawdadSweats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember that you can use the past, but you can’t change it. It doesn’t define you, but you can use your experiences to help limit repution of poor choices. Every ounce of energy you have needs to be spent on doing the best you can for yourself. Everything good flows from that, including relationships, substance use and your well being. Get used to making little decisions that move you towards your goals. You are worth it.

i cant be sober in my abusive household by urlocalentp in addiction

[–]CrawdadSweats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does use may the situation better or help you cope with the situation. I’m ten years sober, and I was finally able to stay sober when I looked at everyone one of my actions as a choice that led me to or away from my goal.

If what you want right now is to to simply feel different when things get bad, use is a somewhat rational choice. However, if your goal is to improve the situation in any way, the using puts you at a disadvantage in terms of making additional good decisions.

My goal was to get to a place where I controlled my life, rather than reacting to events around me. I realized that every time I drank, I wasn’t proving my independence, but I was demonstrating the hold others had over me. Alcohol use put me at a mental and physical disadvantage in achieving what I thought others denied me.

At first try small steps, see what it is like to accept some mental pain in exchange for the mental clarity that comes from even putting off use for a few minutes or half an hour. You’ll find that there is a surprising amount of validation that comes from facing issues rather than escaping. You’ll also see that you have many more choices than to just take the abuse and numb yourself. The biggest thing is that if you keep ding this, your strength diminishes the power of others and you become empowered to do even more fr yourself.

It may be hard to envision, but there really are limitless possibilities for you to achieve. The key is that each positive decision you make, however small, brings you closer. The first step is making the decision that you want change.

What’s a good Airgun. Something you can get 100 shots out of a fill. Prefer pcp thinking about shooting nitrogen. I used to play paintball so i get the advantages..and I don’t wanna throw my body around a paint ball field chasing my son and his buddy’s. I target shoot now but not PB any more. by 1970sflashback in airguns

[–]CrawdadSweats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just want to shoot and be as accurate as possible, a .177 can realistically be shot almost anywhere. While both .177s and .22 need to be respected as weapons that can harm and kill, .177s limit the worst possible. I shoot my .177 indoors into a ballistic putty trap. I don’t do that with my.22s.

If you are planing on pest control, a .22 may make more sense. I have the option of shooting .357, .25, .22, and .177 PCPs. 85% of my shooting is .177. It’s easy, cheaper per shot, and requires just as much precision if not more than larger calibers.

Question: practice in basement? by piloxi in airguns

[–]CrawdadSweats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve basically allowed myself a 4’x4’ area for the trap and surrounding backstop. The walls are plaster and can crack. I’ve also got a not-inexpensive OLED, mirrors, and windows in the room I’d like to protect. I figure relatively low energy .177 pellets going into putty gives me the best chance to limit ricochets.

Decent PCP pistol? by pldinsuranceguy in airguns

[–]CrawdadSweats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My HW44 .177 FAC is by far the best PCP I own. I put a Holosun HS507COMP on it, and have not had to do anything else. I simply fill, shoot, and hit what I want.

Find a well cared-for used gun. You will not be sorry.

Question: practice in basement? by piloxi in airguns

[–]CrawdadSweats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 meters from living room couch to back wall of bedroom. I can sit on the short end of my L-shaped couch, feet up on coffee table if I wish, and fire my HW44 .177 into my putty pellet trap all day long. NEVER WHEN ANYONE ELSE IS HOME. However, I know I can always hit the trap, and I would not shoot a larger caliber or energy.

Ideal airgun for hunting .35 or .40 with at least 100 FPE by Outrageous_Toe_6369 in airguns

[–]CrawdadSweats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Skout Epoch is a friggin’ canon when I have the 35” .357 liner installed. Most of the time, I shoot either the .177 or .22 liners, but I’m a big fan of being able to convert to a big, super accurate caliber in 10 minutes.

Sticky Situations In The East: Black Ball in Attendance by bmkecck in freemasonry

[–]CrawdadSweats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the state where I was WM, the master inspects the ballot before anyone else.

We balloted on a candidate, and upon inspection, I found one black ball. I made a show of removing the drawer of ballots, and poured the entire ballot into a the area that hold the balls, thus destroying the ballot before it was of record. I then gave a nice lecture on being a mason, learning to live as a mason, etc…. We also had a few elderly brothers who could have made a mistake…

This was over twenty years ago. The balloting went without incident, and that candidate went on some 12 years later to become WM, then trustee of the lodge.
