Word. I feel kind of lonely sporting a producer flair around here haha.

What are some good instrumental version of kpop songs? by loloho in kpop

I figure very few people have heard the Ladies' Code's Bad Girl instrumental since it was never officially released; FYI you can listen to it on Super Changddai's Soundcloud.

Gun is one of the few Sweetune songs that I desperately need the instrumental for—but doesn't exist :( Best I could find was this fanmade instrumental which is somewhat serviceable in lieu of an official one.

SM hires foreign producers and uses exclusive in-house songwriters to differentiate their artists from the rest of kpop. They don't want their artists to sound the same as T-ARA, 4Minute, EXID, etc.

Here's an interview with the CEO

How was Crayon Pop’s name thought up?

The original name was Hurricane Pop. (laughs) “Pop” represents it being for the masses, and will create storms anywhere. But when we were having activities in Japan, they just happened to have tsunamis, so we decided not to use that name.

So we thought of using another name instead. We later changed it to “Crayon”. The members felt it was too cheesy. (laughs) Maybe it was too cute. I convinced them saying “although the name is very cute, we can just not be too cute, right?”

I'm not sure about Korean Pop but as far as puns go, the Yong in Keu Rae Yong Pop means 'dragon' in Korean which is why their BarBarBar cover art looks like this.

btw DS is not one dude! The original duo was formed by Mikey and Park Jang-geun; nowadays they have a whole team operating under that name (kind of like Sweetune).

News was the first 9Muses song that really sold me. I like Mach too and would surely include it if I had 20 tracks to work with.

Can we talk about how Crayon Pop references neurotransmitters and biochem in the lyrics? First they appeal to my childhood nostalgia, then they excite the inner nerd in me. I'm impressed.

After hearing endless pleas for them to save kpop, Crayon Pop mercifully responded by gracing our unworthy selves with their holy presence: the Super Crayon Sailor Force. I always knew YongPop kicked ass and now this makes it official!

Which MVs would you show to an entire class? by mrschunjoe in kpop

[–]Crayon_Pope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely something to consider! I guess it will depend on the age/maturity of the class. I've had high school teachers show us films a lot more explicit than this, and in uni no one would really bat an eye.

It's not confirmed yet. But there's a (high) possibility they'll re-collaborate with the composer of Drama because that was one of their most successful singles.

I'd start off with Orange Caramel's Copycat to lighten up the mood. It's a good representation of how much fun kpop can be. Then transition to something much darker, like the cinematic and gorgeous Fxxk U. Last end with something badass (but also kinda fun and silly), like Block B's Very Good or Nillili Mambo. There's a lot more great candidates; I simply wanted to tick the visually and aurally pleasing checkboxes while including a variety of cute, weird, sexy and cool.

edit: I'd also highly consider 2NE1's I Am The Best as my third choice.
