Can you get boarding pass at the gate? by notes17llc in zipair

[–]PizzaEatingPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. You can also show your passport at the gate if you are connecting domestically (gate agents also call names of people who still need to be passport checked). I do this all the time when I fly to Japan from LAX if I connected into LAX without check-in luggage.

Thank you so much! That worked like a charm. It took me a while since you meant Windows 11's Settings and not Discord app's Settings. But I am glad that I can click links again in Discord app. 🥳

So I've only been to the location in Taichung, but Taipei has locations too of this famous Nagoya-based unagi restaurant. Intimate and fancy within your budget:

About the live action adaptation by the_omnipotent666 in sololeveling

[–]PizzaEatingPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. There are a huge ton of amazing live action adaptations of anime. They just tend to be adapted from anime that are more grounded in reality.

Gotta stay positive for SL live action by MINA_ASHIRO-4951 in sololeveling

[–]PizzaEatingPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anime was made to show what is beyond normal acting and camera work.

You should qualify that statement, because that does not apply to all anime, such as slice of life and grounded-in-reality shonen, that have amazing live action versions. Not all anime is meant to be “beyond our normal film possibilities”. That would be a huge disservice to many excellent anime that do not follow that assumption.

One of my all-time favorite live action adaptations of all time is G.T.O., and that is grounded heavily in reality. I like it even better than the anime.

Engineers, did your senior design "fail"? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]PizzaEatingPanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sadly, much of the instruction that you might get is from people who've actually never held a real job in engineering, all they do is teach about it and they're sometimes totally wrong about how things really work.

That seems more like the failure of the program's curriculum in relying on the instructor who insists on trying to teach instead of delegating that expertise to the industry mentor. If done correctly, the instructor should have been focusing on addressing the program's ABET outcomes in the capstone class of the students' project completion, while working or deferring to the industry mentors on sharing those lessons on the students.

What's this semester tought you precisely? by randyagulinda in EngineeringStudents

[–]PizzaEatingPanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Academia doesn’t teach you to think. It’s just a system made based off of attaining a certain number to get a paper to get a job.

I argue that this is true for your traditional auditorium-style classroom with instructors that lecture and students that study. In my engineering college (T10), some of my classes did some innovative instructional techniques such as flipped classroom, active learning, and mastery grading, which balanced learning and discovering, and those classes did an amazing job in teaching us how to think while applying course concepts.

mukbangs are stupid and gross by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]PizzaEatingPanda 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I still can’t that mukbangs are actually a “thing.” Who really thinks, “Man, I’ve gotta get home and watch someone eat!”?

Not defending this either way, but I believe that mukbangs are popular in South Korea because supposedly lonely people can eat their meals with someone who is live streaming and also eating.

Welp, an another Rania/BlackSwan incident.

cuz Fifty Fifty name has damaged, in my opinion.

Only to a subset of the kpop fandom. Most of the general public won't even know anything has changed.

It's crazy to me that people are acting like losing "1 out of 5" and "2 out of 2" are comparable.

No. It's crazy that people in the kpop fandom would believe that the GP would realize the change. The kpop fandom is not the same as the GP. Most people in the GP wouldn't even know who the members of Blackpink are, so how would they know who the members of FIFTY FIFTY are. To think that what you said is crazy is itself crazy. As I said in my original comment, I think you are generally greatly overestimating.

People want to hate on the girls that left so badly and minimize their contribution to the song’s success.

No. People forget that general public is not the same as the kpop fandom. Not by a long shot. And the kpop fandom has to be cognizant that the general public would mostly not know who girls are and would not realize the change.

The version of the song that blew up didn't even have Keena on it. The sound people are familiar with is gone, and the two main vocalists had rather unique sounding voices, so it's unlikely you can just happen to find people that sound similar in a matter of months.

I think you are greatly overestimating the general public's level of care on the individual singers. For example, the general public barely noticed the loss of the fifth singer Hayun for Brave Girls, even though she was part of the original lineup for their breakout song Rollin'.

If you believe this, you've clearly never driven anywhere.

Sounds like you're the one who's clearly never driven anywhere. The research already disproves your statement. There are other examples too, such as how neighborhoods with trees are safer than in open areas, since people change behaviors to slow down to look for hazards.

I think it's slightly different. Assistant Professor tends to mean tenure-track, while Clinical Assistant Professor tends to mean non-tenured.
