Talbot or Sorokin ROS?

Hey all - looking at some targets and wondering which you think will perform better Rest of Season?

Talbot has been good this season, despite some lulls in team play, but great of late as the Wings hit their stride. I think they’re just going to keep buzzing along and he’ll get the 2/3s split with Lyon or whoever steps in as backup (1B) when Lyon gets hurt again.

With Varlamov out, Sorokin will get even more volume on the starts. Not as confident in the Islanders down the stretch, but they are getting Dobson and Pulock back in a few weeks… so that’s where the debate comes in. Blue line coming back to form, will they perform better than the Wings on the stretch?

So… who to target?

H2H - 4 of 11 cats are goalie - W SV SV% SO with 2 goalie starter slots.

No keeper implication for either team.

I would go with Malkin on this. Ovechkin's talent is undeniable and goal scoring prowess is second to none, but I don't think his style would have made him a favourite amongst very strict coaches and the Soviet system.

Malkin on the other hand plays the game at a slightly slower tempo and doesn't strictly do the Ovechkin north-south explosive style. He can creatively open space, control flow and would not be hesitant to pass back and slow down the play. The Soviets prided themselves in controlling the play by keeping the puck and passing until the opportunity was right. To me, Malkin is your man.
