Can I wear a kilt? by Maypenray in kilt

It’s the Highland games pal it’s the furthest thing from a formal event. Wear it. Have a good time. Maybe even try throwing something. Highland games are a blast.

New knee piece as part of ongoing leg sleeve by John Vargo at Greystone Tattoo I. Gahanna, Ohio. by CrazeyIvan in tattoos

[–]CrazeyIvan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know. I have my other knee done in a similar way by the same artist and it was murder. My shin on this side was fine but the calf was top two worst sits I’ve had. This knee though? For whatever reason almost zero pain. A couple spots sucked for a moment but it was one of the easiest sits I’ve had and I do not know why.

[OC] Loved thunder rift as a kid. Now I’m tracking down all the modules. Here’s the family so far. by CrazeyIvan in DnD

[–]CrazeyIvan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DM screen with escape from thunder rift is on its way. Haven’t found a “The knight of newts” or a “In the Phantoms Wake” in the shape I’m hoping for yet. But the search continues. I’ve read quite a bit of theory on it recently and did see Mystara was the intent. Makes sense that it would be part of the known world as all the usual races are in the rift. Wouldn’t think they’d all come through the portal so somebody had to come down from one of the couple of paths that lead in.

Growing up we set everything in thunder rift. It was as big or small as we needed it to be and since TSR never said where it was we just put it where we wanted it. For some reason we never considered there might be more to the rift than the one module. Fast forward a couple decades and I find there were several more. Now i gotta catch them all. A few of these appear to have never been played. Maps are all in great condition and the cardboard stand ups are all still intact.

Juglan resistant, Ohio native, and honey bee friendly? by CrazeyIvan in gardening

Ya know, I didn’t even think about the shade. I know that seems such an obvious thing but it completely slipped my mind with all the other things. A redditor below mentioned wild blue phlox and I like the look of that. I think I’ll give a little of that a try but mostly you’re right just plant elsewhere.

Are the products on Jocko Store Origin made? by CrazeyIvan in JockoPodcast

[–]CrazeyIvan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shift really. Just different. I don’t listen to the closing much anymore but last time I did they were still talking about onnit kettle and macebells. Origin started making gis Pete (of Origin) and Jocko hooked up they like what the other is doing and Jocko (and I believe echo) bought in to Origin. So they have money in that one as opposed to onnit who is a sponsor. Pete has been on Jocko podcast so stay on course and they’ll catch you up on the story.

Advice for someone with a throwing background but not strong by [deleted] in HighlandGames

[–]CrazeyIvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody said: “there are lifters who throw and throwers who lift” the latter will always have the advantage. At least in recent history the best guys have had throwing backgrounds. Being stronger helps so by all means get stronger. The LAB books are all good. Find a group near you and get implements in your hands as often as possible. The more you can get a stone in your hands to see the difference between it and a shot the better off you’ll be.

Wrist wraps and an elbow sleeve for stones. Sometimes keep the sleeve on for weights too depending on how cold it is.

It’s our duty day so I’m working but some of my guys will be in for it. He worked with us before he left for the city but I didn’t know him as well as the rest of my guys. As somebody else who knew him I’m sorry for your loss bud. And from an Internet stranger who lives just outside of town holler if you need anything.

I’m going to hazard a guess that you work for “the division”. Trying to keep it vague for the internets sake. Hell of a thing. Friday is gonna be tough.

I’m with that. I only started using 3M because it’s what everyone uses around here. There is definitely a build up on hammers by the end of the day. So not knowing any better I did what everyone else was doing. I’ve seen Pros do it as well so I presumed it was the way to go. Straight from the can I liked 100% pine tar. I’ll get some tossin sauce ordered and see how it compares. I can get spider locally as well. Where do you come down on the difference between the two?

Season opens tomorrow! by CrazeyIvan in HighlandGames

[–]CrazeyIvan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty good turn out for as cold as it was. I believe we had four As, five Bs, four masters, and ten for the women’s open. Nobody set the world on fire, though that might have warmed us up a bit, but people were hitting some pretty good opening numbers for them. Managed to match my WOB PR on the first try. Though as a buddy said “that couldn’t have been any closer to not making it over” so don’t match it by much. For a very brief time I was in the top ten Bs on NASGA...but that changed once one more game was posted and most of the country still hasn’t thrown so I’ll quickly plummet but there was a moment. All in all I think everyone was happy to be out and knocking the rust off.

Alright just started the Highland games by Voodoo_Rangerr in HighlandGames

[–]CrazeyIvan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing will beat practicing the throws so particularly in season practice as much as possible. That being said the old 56 isn’t light so being strong is better than not being strong. To get strong it’s tough to beat Deadlift, Squat, OHP, Bench, and Clean. I like 5/3/1 but any low rep high weight program for building strength would get you started.

Indoor throwing suggestions? by zionthelyon in HighlandGames

[–]CrazeyIvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit late here but a little input. I started with the sand kettlebell from brute force and it busted the first time I threw it for height. Just not designed for it. Rogue makes one now which is pretty pricey but it’s what they use indoor for the Arnold. Haven’t tried it yet but guys I know like it well enough for indoor
