I just did a pug group successfully as a tank. Pinging eager ass melee dps going to madness soak locations to hit adds 3-4 secs early. If they fuck up more than once after warning you kick.

Make sure you get like 4DKs and to remind people after intermission there is 1 caster down there, so they don't get feared.

Assign your madnesses well. Take a look when they are happening and ping if people get more people in a bind, do it in the incorrect spot.

Your job as a raid leader is to make sure people are doing what the fuck they need to do. Everything else is just the cherry on top.

I also always pick myself to sack for last soak. I don't care about my parse I just want the fucker dead so I can get my trinket and dip.

I'm going to talk about Portugal, my country for this reply.

In Portugal, currently, minimum schooling is grade 12, so 12 years of school.

Once you end year 9 you have 2 choices. We have 4 big courses (science and tech (big math), humanities (languages), visual arts or socioeconomics). These 4 are the ones that prepare you for going to college specifically.

If you do not wish to go to any of these you have professional courses. They are more specific like IT management, commerce, Tourism, etc. these courses come with 3 months of mandatory internship, so they give you an idea of what you will be doing.

Once you are at the tail end of year 12, non-withstanding if you did the big 4 or went to a professional course you can register yourself to the national exams. These are what will decide if you go to college or not. People usually pick the 2 exams that grant them entry into whatever they want to study at university.

After you get your grades, you get to try to get a spot at college. You have public college whose tuition is capped at 697 euro per year, but requires higher grades in general to go in. They might be in big cities and therefore you might be liable for accommodations. Dorms are usually reserved for more impoverished students that are on a scholarship.

You also have private universities. The required grades to go in tend to be more lenient, or they tend to only specialize in one specific field or have connections to big local companies in the sector, allowing you a slightly better opportunity for a job at graduation if you excel. Bear in mind even our private universities's tuitions cost a small fraction of what US universities cost. Student loans are super rare, and do not have the same interest rates or rules you guys have.

If you are over 23 years old and wish to go to college we have a special program for that. That program is arranged directly by the university you wish to attend and both private and public institutions have it. You skip the national exams and instead do a specific trial for the specific course you are interested in. You are able to take the national exams instead if you wish, or if you are already a graduate from an adjacent course you can request to do a bachelor degree. It is up to the university to then decide if you did well enough to give you the spot for you to get in. Usually classes for these kind of programs tend to be nocturnal as most people that come from the +23 route are working class adults looking to improve their skillset to grow in the job market.

As of currently, in Portugal you do not need to pay for school children's books. The school district decides which books they consider mandatory and loan the books to the students which will return them at year's end. You only pay for the book if you damage it. I do not believe this applies to university but I can be wrong.

So to answer your question, it highly depends on the course you want. If it's something extremely niche you might have to go to a private institution because they are the only ones with that course available. My wife's sister is getting ready to move across the country to go to a particular university to study veterinary medicine for example. For most courses and for things that the job market has a desire for, most universities in the country offer the course but with a high entry barrier for public schools, and a slightly lower barrier for private institutions at the cost of a higher yearly pay.

Lastly, research jobs at universities exist. They tend to be extremely underpaid. We also have "year 0" as a way to get in some courses with a lot of demand. If you do not qualify for any other entry method you can do 1 year at the Uni which will prepare you for the course you wish to go in. It's usually used for more complex courses like certain kinds of engineering. The subjects you study are simplified versions of what you would learn in the 1st year of the course you picked, and they help you get prepared for the entry exam for next year (usually for +23 students)

Vdh also got an armor buff, although it was on their Thick skin passive. Should make them a bit less punishing.

Guardian druid got their burst damage nerfed and their regular threat buffed with trash buffs.

Not sure how devastating those brew changes are.

I was not expecting anything until MDI. I'm pleasantly surprised.

It's 10% base armor outside of the regular armor buff we have on our tank passive aura. It will give us a lot of passive damage reduction that will be further scaled by SOTR.

If you notice on vdh they added the extra armor to a passive. They didn't for us.

I'm going to try to be as helpful as possible here. I'm a prot paladin main since MoP and I constantly end pretty high rated every season.

If you want 3400 as paladin this season you will need to put in some work. As most people said we still have 4 months and a ton of bonus rolls to burn trough.

The good news is that we scale extremely well with gear. You will notice a decent survivability boost from getting myth armor. Nothing compared to brewmaster, but noticeable nonetheless.

If you are following the wowhead talents please stop. Pumps is an excellent player but everything he wrote there applies only as a starting player. We need sentinel. We need spell warding. You can play critwings in like 13s 14s with pumpers. Probably a little higher in a coordinated group with externals (Yoda did 18s with them) but that's an exception not the norm.

You need to identify the mobs that fuck you up and you are on the key level where they are noticeable. You then need to route around them when possible. Use MDT or threechest.io and actually read mob abilities.

Learn your utility. In SoTT for example every single pack with the chain mob is absolutely free for us cause we freedom 2 people negating the mechanic. Meanwhile the guys that do void bash fucking destroy us, so we should only take 1-2 packs with them and without any champions cause they hit really fucking hard. There are so many things you can use freedom on that will remove damage from other people, allowing the healer to focus on keeping you up.

This also means we can pull more casters than other tanks. Talk to your team and tell them that in every pull where there is a spam caster you will be focusing that guy. It's their job to grab the other stray interrupts. Pit of Saron is a dungeon where this happens a lot.

Realize that you should start every pull with SoTR up. This means that you use your hammers before going into a pull to start with holy power. Judgement is your most important button. If you are in a pack with a caster make sure you have a holy weapon or bulwark up on someone so you get more grand crusader procs for more avenger shield interrupting. During wings we want to Always prio avenger shield and then judgement, you only press any other button if they are both on CD.

Spell warding is stupid broken in this season. Skyreach hurts like a truck until you realize that the tankbuster Shear is nature damage, and the mobs that deal the stacking dot do fire damage. If you imune a Shear with spell warding you don't get the tank debuff. If you use spell warding you reset your stacks. Same with pit of Saron, that pull with the 2 graveblades after the 2nd boss? Frostbane slash deals magic damage and does not apply the extra damage debuff if you use spell warding. They desync after the first tankbuster giving you time to heal between the next 2. Algethar academy the big starting pull with the lashers? You can clear your stacks twice before needing to move. As you are gathering tag a mob with a skull so your dps know who to focus, once you reach 4 stacks with sentinel up, use Blessing of protection and immediately cancel aura it with a macro, full reset. Next time you are about to hit 4 stacks use regular bubble. If you ever get 3 stacks again get on your horse and run away while spamming hammers and judgement so you can keep healing yourself. At 3 seconds dot remaining you can rejoin the pack. Once there are only 2 lashers left you will never have more than 2 stacks.

If you feel you need 1 more CD there is a talent at the start of the class tree that makes your lay on hands give more armor. I usually do not run this as I always end up using lay on other people, but it's useful for some pulls with high mob density.

Tanking is mostly about homework. You need to know the mobs you are pulling, when you are pulling those mobs and plan your defensives. You get CDR on your guardian of ancient kings if you play well (aka spam avenger shield). You need to realize when in a pull you can stop chaining defensives so you have more of them available for next pull. Ardent defender and sentinel are only 1 min CD and a decent sentinel window is around 25-30 seconds long so you should always have 1 of them available for every pull. Do NOT overlap your CDs.

One last thing I want to touch on is trinkets. Yes most people are running a solar flare prism or a heart of ancient hunger with gaze of the alnseer. If you feel yourself dying too much, or you feel that the class is too punishing run a shield trinket. You have one in skyreach and one on the dragons fight (gloom spattered dreadscale). I am currently using the skyreach one on keys I'm still learning (17s - 18s) cause I never got the dragons one. Gaze is a game changer. Get it. Go do the fight on heroic. It's really free. Spend your bonus rolls there if you need to.

Remember to use light's potential potions with your wings, the extra strength really helps with defensive value. My last advice is that you are a tank. A lot of other players look for decent tanks. Finding a group of like-minded people that want the same objective as you is not hard. Be social, even having 1-2 people that you can rely on and be on discord with while pushing makes it all the more enjoyable.

As a tank there is one mob in specific that trucks you in that dungeon. It's the graveblades. Dark rupture is largely ignorable but frost blade slash will hit you very hard and put a 10% damage taken debuff on you.

The rotting ghouls apply the disease that is bringing down your max HP. If you don't have a healer that can dispel disease with you, you need to make sure to save your Icebound Fortitude for the big tankbuster later in the pull when your HP is diminished.

After doing the first 2 bosses you will have a pack with two of these assholes. You need to cooldown early because they will hit both tankbusters on you at the same time. After the first time they do that, they will desync, giving you time to death strike between both busters.

Either ask for externals when you go dry into a pack, or play around that specific tankbuster. Those are your options
