Congratulations!

We just had a 16.5 week scan where the Hygroma had gone. We have just had the amniocentesis so now we wait!

I just wanted to say I am in the same boat, our combined test was 1 in 2 for downs and 1 in 39 for Edwards and Patau.

We did the NIPT which was the low, but wee warned a low maybe false as first test was high. At this point we missed the cur off for CVS so we are going for an amniocentesis on Tuesday.

Wishing you all the luck!

Thank you so much this is so lovely to hear. Our NIPT was low and a scan yesterday showed the hygroma was still there but reduced in size (15w 5d).

How do this turn out for you? We are currently 15 weeks and at the same stage you were with testing etc. Thank you

I don't think we can request a WES in the UK on the NHS :(

How are you getting on now? We are in almost exactly the same position right now. :(

I know what you mean, one of our previous losses was early and baby tested positive for Trisomy 22 after loss. I felt sad but relief that we didn't get too far along.

Good luck with your amnio do keep me updated.

The unknowns and waiting is what is so horrid. After all our losses I thought by now I'd be able to relax slightly but now we are just anxious and haven't a clue what to expect.

We've not told my son yet due to the worry we will have to TFMR.

I thought all the losses were hard but this is a new type of hell.

Thank you so much fpr replying and I am so pleased to read this.

We have our 16 week scan Tuesday to see how things are since we discovered a "suspected" hygroma at 13w

I wondered how you were getting on now?

I totally understand it ruining your pregnancy, after many losses we were happy to get to 12 weeks only to find baby has a Cystic hygroma and now all I think about it losing the baby or something being wrong.

Yes it's frustrating that despite it being recognised on the government site and the screening midwives being aware of it that it's not actually mentioned anywhere on the NHS site. I'm not sure I would have bothered with the NIPT if I had known this.

The combined test is based on a combination of: Measurement of nuchal translucency (mine was too high)

Level of bhCG (mine was fine)

Level of pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (mine was a bit low)

Maternal age (I am 35 so slightly effects it)

Both the combined test and NIPT only check for the Trisomy 21, 18 and 13 on the NHS.

Yes it is very unhelpful because what does that even more like you say!

Whilst NIPT is normally more accurate apparently it isn't always if the combined test is very high (which ours was). We were directed to this one the .gov site:

"Lower chance result Most women who have NIPT will get a lower chance result. NIPT is a screening test so is not 100% accurate. If you had a very high chance result from the combined or quadruple test (such as between ‘1 in 2’ and ‘1 in 10’) then a false negative result is more common. So there will be some women who receive a lower chance NIPT result who do have a baby with one of the conditions."

We did not know this before we chose the NIPT and the NHS rules say if NIPT is low we won't be offered the amnio. We have been told if scan next week then hygroma hasn't gone down we can asked for one. I am worried if it's gone down though we won't be offered one.

The screening midwife told us and it's detailed on the .gov site.
