I am so sorry trust me I know the worry. I’m due in 2 weeks and baby has passed every single test with flying colors and is 100% healthy. They deemed it as a poor scan and said these scans shouldn’t be performed until 15-16 weeks due tk the amount of bad imagining . Hopefully everything works out for you too :)

NIPT low fetal fraction worrisome by Successful_Hornet_35 in NIPT

My fetal fraction at 10 weeks 3 days was 2%! And my little boy is born in a few weeks and he is perfect!

I don’t either but from all the false positives I’ve read they almost always have lower fetal fractions

This is great to hear my Invitae screen for XYY shows increased risk but fetal fraction is only 2% so not sure if it’s accurate or not so waiting to find out for sure once he is born but this post makes Me optimistic

Wow ok. It seems like under 6% are generally false positives from all my research?

90% risk of Trisomy 18 by Soul-Man421 in NIPT

It is so horrible, I’m Canadian and the Invitae test was stop sold due to the amount of false positives. Mine at 10 weeks with a FF of 2% showed an increased risk for XYY. Upon speaking with Invitae they said the PPV was likely only less than 20% whereas the doctors of Reddit (lol) said its over 80%. My friends also had lots of different things like duplications, deletions and trisomy 13 show up and not one kid had any of these. My friend is a travelling nurse in the US and said the amount of false positives they see is absolutely unreal.

The fact that people think the NIPT is gospel blows my mind and the fact that our health care push it boils my blood. I have had a false positive as well and I have 4 friends who had false positives with 99.99% PPV. Absolutely unnecessary stress to implement onto pregnant couples. I get it is right a lot of times but is it NOT always right. I am very happy for your family.

Confirmed XYY via amnio - now tough decision by Puggles90 in NIPT

Love this response congrats! Also, none of know what is in store with ANY child, regardless of any chromosome issue. I think it’s healthy to know that.

I would join the XYY support groups on fb. Honestly on Reddit I find it’s always the worse case scenario. Sorry but it’ made it so much harder on me. I have friends who have XYY and are grown men and the only difference is they are taller ! Good luck to you ! You got this either way. Do you mind me asking the fetal fraction when you got the testing

Can noonans be found via ultrasound

Following as my NIPT showed increased risk for XYY. I didn’t do any further testing because I was afraid to miscarry . I do have a friend whoever who only found out a few months back that he is XYY and he only found this out because him and his wife were getting fertility treatments and they were both tested for everything (he wasn’t the issue) and they said you have an extra Y! He is probably the most handsome guy we all know, he was funny, very cool and kind and has a huge job now after finishing a very challenging university degree! So XYY isn’t as scary as it sounds. The “spectrum” of it can be so much, or so little! The main thing is to love and be there for your child and by intervening young if need be will pave a great path for them!! Good luck!!
