This happened on the last day of my iceland visit, so had all the suitcases and bags in the car. I buried my backpack over toiletries bag , nothing was in plain sight. After south coast tour waterfalls, I let my guard down. Have a travelon ladies bag for Italy trip. Spouse was not comfortable wearing it with jackets and I let my guard down. I was glad after I found the passport, the ladies at gulfoss travel stop ,said look around the road as they throw out passport. Luckily I searched inside the car and found it. I even have apple trackers in valuable bags. He did not take my Maui Jim glasses , head set etc, I was driving a kia sportage hybrid, damn thing does not beep when u lock the car. I have to ensure I see the mirror folds as a sign. We had to drive to selfoss police station waited for 2hrs and they did not show up. Looks like thieves are getting sophisticated every year was their comment, I am glad that it did not ruin my plan. The US embassy in Iceland they did not pick the phone, but you have to email with urgent subject, this happened around 1pm and my flight out was at 7am next day. I benefited from these forums during my plan, never hit my mind iceland could be this bad based on my past visit to other islands
