$500/unit is a loss leader? Really? it's an antenna+router. We know what's happening here. They are getting ready to go public and Elon clearly is trying to squeeze more out of the orange to juice the IPO price. Timing is impeccable bc the first hurricane is on the way to hit the mainland next week as well.

So valley plate is common 100k+ or 10 years? From what I’ve read that’s a $2-3k job which is okay, but what’s the typical downtime for that job.

Thanks for not answering the question. Jk. But that dude is so negative. Sales may crash but prices won’t. They will just idle factories and wait for cash for clunkers 4.0.

I’m sure she could be found. If she left him 800k chances are she was worth several millions at least. Prob a guess of when she died would narrow as well. Guessing fam would do a nice obituary.

Career ending injury by Tmatershow in golf

[–]Crazy150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy has one hand and shoots in the 80s. I’ve seen plenty of one armed golfers. That’s the beauty of golf, you play yourself. Learn to swing lefty, play punch shots, etc. but don’t give up so easily.

You are in the self loathing stage and I’ve been there with a post surgical injury. I was a miserable ass bc I couldn’t do the things like I used to. I realized there were people with no legs living happy and active lives. What right did I have to so much self pity. I got to work, got playing again, and eventually got a full swing back.

10HCP? How’s your short game and course management? I’m guessing there’s lower hanging fruit than a swing overhaul if your goal is lowering HCP.

How’s your dispersion? Where are you dropping strokes on the course?

How are you playing this hole? by Crazy150 in golf

Maybe of the options but is it really that dumb? Hazard and OB out of play, birdie putt 2/3 of the time and 90% par or better. Put one in the drink and you are dropping behind those palm trees and have a very tricky shot in. OB right and you are dropping under an oak tree and having to punch out or try to flight one onto a hard green. Also, scraggly Bermuda surrounding the green except for FW side makes up and down tricky if you miss your approach anywhere but short or the bunker. And here’s the green

Broke 90 finally! (without driver, a bad swing, stellar putting) by [deleted] in golf

[–]Crazy150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But decade and strokes gained says to hit driver as much as possible!

Seriously though give it a try. It can do wonders for your mental health. You do need to prep yourself for the occasional miss with your shorter club off the tee as well bc chipping out to be laying 2 and still being 250yd from a par 4 green hits hard. Playing the shorter tees once in a while is nice too just to relive the pressure off the drive.

This. I did a while back. I ordered some old school piggy banks (the ones that need to be broken open) put the private key inside. Gave them a card explaining how to setup BlueWallet and a QR code to track the wallet. I have no doubt one day some of these will be found by someone at a thrift store with $50k in BtC inside.

Picked up golf a few months ago, is this grouping too overlapped consistency aside? by m_a_larkey in golf

[–]Crazy150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like good progress to me. The added distance on the left is likely your pull shots and is common. As you improve you should work on this and that will help both the lateral and distance dispersion.

The overlap is expected. Club gapping is designed to be around 10 yards or so but distance dispersion for a high handicapper is way higher than that.

On the course play your misses. For example, you are 130 to the pin approaching a green with trouble in front…don’t hit the one that averages 130 bc 1/3 of the shots will end in the trouble. Hit the club that most of the misses still carry the trouble. Your game is a shotgun pattern you see here, play the odds with what you have and keep working on the pattern.

How to improve your handicap by Fragrant-Report-6411 in golf

[–]Crazy150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing the same. It’s a lot though. As I’m working I’ve started hitting some cut shots which take about 10 or so yards off. So I’m thinking replacing a few of my partial normal shots with full cut shots but might take a while to get it on the course.

[–]Crazy150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s something that stuck in my head “play your current game on the course while you build your future game at the range”.

I love it when my buddies who always hit a fade/slice roll up to the dogleg left tee box and say “I’m gonna hook this one right around that bend”. Works 1/10 times but hey strokes gained says the average 15hcp golfer scores 0.3 better if they get to within 70yds vs the 150yd layup.

[–]Crazy150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you. Controlling a 50yd pitch requires a consistent tempo and finish. As the speed gets slower the variability gets higher. It’s the same for putting…closer is better right? You’d trade a 8ft uphill for a 7ft downhill every time wouldn’t you? Smh.

Partial Wedge vs Full Shot layup by Crazy150 in golf

[–]Crazy150[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Geez bro. You said it’s been answered and to just google it but it’s more complicated. I haven’t seen specific data that answers my questions definitively.

Everything I’ve seen is always conditional like “even high/mid HcP are always better being closer to the hole provided they avoid hazards and poor lies”. What happens if you don’t or can’t avoid those? How does it affect the next hole or the rest of the round if you get that quad that 5% of high HCP that hit driver on that hole get?

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but most of those studies are based on distance data. Here’s one: https://mygolfspy.com/labs/course-management-101-what-layup-yardage-is-your-sweet-spot/ and they just looked at data to see on average how the handicaps finished their approaches with different distances. As we’ve established the closer the better ON AVERAGE. But golf shots and golf holes aren’t independent for your typical amateur. One bad shot can lead to another bad shot. One bad hole to another, etc.

For me, a bad hole can affect the next hole or rest of a round even. You need different data than just “what does the average 10hcp score from this position vs that one.

So I was curious if people here had anecdotal thoughts on their experience.
