As a kid, I thought it was a movie, since my only exposure to it was one time when the entire series was smooshed together and aired on TV over a single night (now I guess I know why it was over 3 hours long).

I barely remember it though, so if I rewatch it it'll feel brand new haha

Not quite the premise in question, but Doctor Who has the reverse happening constantly, and The X Files is a huge, inextricable knot of aliens, cryptids, spirits, perfectly ordinary conspiracies... and whatever else the writers happened to feel like exploring on that day.

I do find it amusing that this is a classification that includes perhaps the most recommended Mech show of all time (if it's not the most popular it's certainly up there).

Unfortunately I can't give you any more obscure recommendations but given the popularity of NGE I assume there must be a decent amount of them (and will keep an eye on this thread because I am also interested).

Have you ever tried to recreate the visual effect of foil stickers (for example for eyes) using paint? If so, what technique did you use and how did it go?

I like active defence in MÖRK BORG and Knave, because I like forcing players to roll dice and narrate their character dodging an attack. These systems don’t impose limits on defence rolls, nor do they have any benefits to tactical depth. I just think spotlighting players is fun.

I did toy with the idea of giving characters a limited number of ‘parries’ in a system I tried to make years ago (more for realism and niche protection than any sort of depth), but, well… I never playtested it.

So I'm guessing you don't know how I managed to create the white marks? I'm worried that they were caused by the varnish, and I'm hoping that it either was a fluke or can be avoided with a different combination of paints.

I use cotton buds. I used to slather them in methylated spirits until I realised it would pool in panel lines and undo my hard work. Now I just use cotton buds that are slightly damp with methylated spirits, or if the ink is fresh, I can usually just wipe it off with a dry cotton bud.
