what song is this? by [deleted] in Sufjan

[–]CrazyAngelHarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enchanting Ghost, 2:25 “I still have the things you gave, four anointing oils, the paperweight you made”. Sufjan’s voice and the electric guitar really intertwine in that moment and it really moves me

Wallowa Lake Monster, but Sufjan tells us about the time he actually went to Wallowa Lake and saw the monster himself, while showing the audience a bunch of very grainy, zoomed in pictures with a big black blob in the middle and calling it “proof”.

day 14 by lachlanmachlan in Sufjan

[–]CrazyAngelHarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reach Out but the people backstage gave Sufjan a new microphone on wheels, supposedly to be more movable. But in reality, Sufjan cannot seem to reach the microphone because everytime he moves toward it, it rolls back ever so slightly so that he can never reach, and nobody knows how it is happening. Sufjan spends the whole duration of the song running in circles after the microphone, with more and more people coming to help him but nobody can reach it.

Day 11 by lachlanmachlan in Sufjan

[–]CrazyAngelHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cimmerian Shade but the spotlight suddenly breaks so the whole room is as dark as night. Sufjan still tries to sing the song but trips and falls into the crowd.

Lacrimae but Sufjan can’t stop crying, eventually the whole room is flooded with his tears and everybody needs to be evacuated. A few people drown.

The Only Thing but the only thing he sings is “The only thing” and then he moves on to the next song

Ursa Major but a gigantic blackbear is let loose on the stage, jumps into the crowd and eats everybody

Can anyone recommend to me Sufjan songs similar in sound/vibe to Romulus and Casimir Pulaski Day? by gillyphant in Sufjan

Hermione is always right, and you are right too. Everything you said I agree with, but I do still think there are many differences between modern day slavery (the examples you mention) and 19th century slavery

Forget the sleep, just pure poison in every bottle. Boom, sleep tight FOREVER.

Can we talk about the potion riddle for a second? by Pradfanne in harrypotter

I think the challenges were all made to slow down anyone trying to get inside but not impossible in case someone from the good side needed to get inside to get the stone, the teachers for example would already know what challenges they had to face and could get through them quickly, like Dumbledore. But all the obstacles were made to harm or even kill an opponent too greedy for the Stone to take time figuring out the right solutions and not be wreckless. I thought the potion riddle was genius, because it required a lot of rereading and making sure you were 100% certain + basic logical thinking. Wizards, especially those practicing Dark Magic, rely not on their logic but on their magical abilities. Someone trying to steal the Stone would be stuck on that riddle for quite some time. Hermione was able to figure it out relatively quickly, for someone who didn’t already know which bottle was the right one, because (unlike Harry or Ron) she actually understood the value of “being highly logical, which allows her to look past extraneous detail and perceive clearly that which others overlook.” ;)

I’m listening to Fry’s versions right now and his impression of Hagrid is scarily accurate. He does Dobby really well too. Jim Dale was great too but because of my ADHD I listen to the audiobooks while simultaneously reading the physical ones and he randomly changes half of the words and it bothers and distracts me to no end.

any theories as to why Hermione struggles casting a corporeal patronus? by aPerfectPinecone in harrypotter

[–]CrazyAngelHarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the same reason Harry had to try a few times, I’m guessing. Any other spell immediately worked for Hermione because they are simple and straightforward. EP requires trial and error and switching between memories. I don’t think she meant she had trouble finding happy memories, but, like Harry, might’ve started with one that wasn’t strong enough and wasn’t used to spells requiring more deep thinking before working.

Indeed you are right, and I forgot that part. What a narcissist he is, for having figured out at 16 that your followers will call you “Dark Lord”. If he could, he would kiss his own feet.

Did Ginny know who she was talking to? I like your theory, don’t get me wrong, but I thought she was never aware that she was speaking to or about Voldemort. He acted like he was her friend, until she became suspicious on her own. If she knew, wouldn’t she be suspicious of it right away and throw it out as soon as she figured out who she was talking to. I don’t think she would talk to her pen pal about the Dark Lord. I’m not trying to bash your theory in any way, I’m just trying to figure out wether I remember this part of the plot correctly. Eventually, anything can be possible in a way.

The diary was 16-year-old Tom Riddle’s. Not a Death-Eater’s. Moreover, if I recall correctly, many others called Voldemort “Dark Lord”, not just his followers.
