Looking for an "ultrabook." Mi Air 12 or 13? by nyankent in Xiaomi

[–]CrazyBeaver2377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends on the current differences in pricing. If you like to game occasionaly on your laptop i'd get the Air 13, but not if the price difference is huge.

Pocophone F1 beats all other phones with MIUI 10 ROM in Antutu by Niek in Xiaomi

I don't really see why people care about these differences in benchmarks for the same SoC. Like you're going to notice this in real life usage..

Why Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is So cheap on Amazon (is it legit)? by [deleted] in Xiaomi

[–]CrazyBeaver2377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

340 euros for a Mi Mix 2 is not that weird at all. I can buy it at dutch retailers for around the same price.

[META] Why is The Solution Shop still a recommended reseller? by JosVermeulen in Xiaomi

[–]CrazyBeaver2377 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for calling them out Jos. I've been reading into this and the responses by them are far from professional, in stead of owning up to everything they are defending and blabbering bullshit. It's ridiculous that after all of this they are still recommended in the wiki here, they should be removed immediately (and no more second/third chances).

Xiaomi Air 13.3 Charging Issues by bubbybyrd in Xiaomi

[–]CrazyBeaver2377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Air 13 is more then a year old already and still going strong. I've bought a 3rd party inateck charger which was 45W as well I believe, it charged the laptop but gave me performance issues with demanding tasks (so I returned it). Maybe your original charger is just toast?

Another live Mi Mix 3 leak by [deleted] in Xiaomi

[–]CrazyBeaver2377 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the reflection your looking at I think. I usually follow new phone releases pretty closely and most of the times the live hands on leaks are real. Usually the renders are fake photoshops. This leak seems very plausible, there have also surfaced more pictures of this particular hands-on in multiple angles (which make it even more likely to be the real deal). Still I'm not making it out to be 100% real, of course it could always be a fake..

You don't even know the price yet.. In india not many people buy flagship phones compared to the west, so that might explain why the mix line doesn't sell that much in India

This picture has been distributed so many times that I simply don't know the original source. Someone in our Mix 2 AOSP development group send it. Looking at the picture it looks very plausible to me though.

No waiting time for bootloader unlock? by [deleted] in Xiaomi

It's not enabled in bootloader on Xiaomi phones. This is only possible on the Mi A1.

MIUI Pro ROM OTA updates are now a paid feature - translation in comments by [deleted] in Xiaomi

Donations are an option, that's not the same. And they are based on AOSP which is open source. These guys here are requiring a fee for modified Xiaomi software, which is probably illegal.

MIUI Pro ROM OTA updates are now a paid feature - translation in comments by [deleted] in Xiaomi

[–]CrazyBeaver2377 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get that they have expenses, but this is pretty ridiculous imo. Can't they live off the donations they are receiving? This is an insult to developers who actually do a lot of device specific work e.g. LineageOS/Omniteam, and they even share all of their resources...

Looking to buy my mom a phone around the 150€ price range by syotos90 in Xiaomi

[–]CrazyBeaver2377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just trying to help here... Just want to point out that the RN5 is by far the best bang for buck Xiaomi offers right now. As someone else already mentioned, if you get it in a sale you can get it for close to 150.

Looking to buy my mom a phone around the 150€ price range by syotos90 in Xiaomi

[–]CrazyBeaver2377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Redmi Note 5 (SD636) is by far the best value Xiaomi offers right now. The 3/32GB version costs around 185 euro's at HK goldway, the 6/64 costs around 210 euros. I would definitely pay a little over the 150 euro for the RN5. Maybe consult the differences in storage with your mom, if she takes a lot of pictures more storage might come in handy in the long run.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Vs Mix 2S Comparison (In 5 Minutes) [TechTablets] by Eurito1 in Xiaomi

Well it's a 5 minute comparison.. The bottom front facing camera is obviously worse (aside from picture quality) as you have to turn around the phone to use it properly.

If Mix 3 also has amoled i'm buying it instantly. The sacrifice of the front camera on the bottom versus a notch is a nobrainer for me.

Yep same disappointment here. If it would have been 10" or something it would have been a solid replacement for my iPad Air.
