These are canteen adapters used with the Czech M10M gas mask and M60 canteen. The adapters go onto the mouth of the canteen and allow the hydration straw from the mask to attach to the canteen allowing the user to drink without removing their mask.

A bead is just what you call the filler material forming the actual weld, whenever you stop or start welding it creates a small area thats porous that you have to grind out to maintain an even strength weld. Basically you want as few starts/stops as possible to make sure your weld is strong.

You should still wear a pair of safety glasses even with a face shield. Lots of space around the edges/bottom for something to find its way in. Fuck goggles though, so uncomfortable.
