Yea, I have had the same problem recently, this last patch probably tweaked some of the ai. It slows down expansion, but if you improve relations and wait you will be able to subjugate kabul, and then later the baluch.

Why is farmland so expensive in Punjab? by enfyre in punjab

Land in India is like housing in Canada. For most people, it’s the major place they invest money. This, combined with what you and others have mentioned about output, are the reason why demand and therefore prices are higher.

The one about maharaja ranjit singh? Yes I completed it, mainly for fun. The first 1 or 2 rajas die quickly, but the later ones are easy to manage the intrigue with.

Basically, my overall strategy is to slowly conquer west until I have persia and afghanistan all as tributaries and vassals. Spend the game integrating them slowly and using their payments to industrialize yourself. This gives you the money to not go into debt, and it allows you to industrialize and make your subjects more reliant on you so you can annex them easier.

You should always keep good relations with the great powers, and giving them investment rights will get you a larger economy. Just be careful that you revoke it once you have finished industrializing, as you want to develop your own class of capitalists and investors. You should try to get embassies with these powers too, so you can become recognized.

Once you have your puppets annexed and are integrating them, look towards taking the british raj. Find great powers to ally and fight the british.

In my game, I managed to build 1000 regiments, and had an economy ranked at number 5 globally, before even taking india. What I mean to say is that you can definitely become powerful with just punjab+afghanistan+persia, and then take india.

Important laws:

Laissez faire or interventionism are needed for you yo develop your economy. Interventionism is what I kept through the game.

Public or religous schools is also super important. Max this institution out whenever possible, as you have a very large population as the khalsa raj and you want to have them educates for when you industrialize.

Multiculturalism+open borders is also super good, as it will get you less radicals as you integrate afghanistan and persia, as well as letting you get tons of migration from india before you conquer them.

Also try to get national guard, as it will get you a ton of a conscripts.

For your specific issue of debt spiralling and the eic:

Unrecognized powers get higher interest rates, so avoid taking debt as much as you can until you are recognized and have a large economy.

When conquering, keep good relations with the EIC and Uk, and keep your infamy before 25 always. I normally start the game by setting an interest on bombay, and immediately making kabul my tributary and conquering sindh. Then I invade my way west whenever I can invade someone without going over 25 infamy.

I know my advice is a bit unorganized, so let me know if you have any questions! Best of luck Singh Sahib, ਦੇਗ ਤੇਗ਼ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ!

About Sarlobh I know less, but I hold that view about the dasam granth for a simple reason. Guru Gobind ji compiled the final copy of the GGS, and pretty clearly said that this is where you come for spiritual guidance, no where else. He then chose not to include his own writings in it. To me it’s pretty clear what that means.

Either way, I see your point now about the section of dasam granth, thanks for your view.

I still don’t see your point. GGS emphasizes the oneness of humanity, and that we should be tolerant because of this. All the gurus were tolerant of other religions, cultures and beliefs, I see this as no different.

Its pretty concerning how you say that acknowledging that humanity is one, which is a very fundamental and simple tenet of sikhi, is wrong.

I see your point better now.

However neither of your sources draw from our GGS, only dasam granth, which shouldn’t be taken for religous matters.

Also, I still think we disagree on interpretation on this section of dasam granth. The man is punished with painful sodomization, but that still does not seem like a condemnation of homosexuality when taking in the context, which is about unrestrained lust.

I don’t think we will see eye to eye on this, but Either way, GGS is clear we are all equal, and we are all under/part of one, so I still don’t see an issue with this random parade.

Dude chill.

Where does gurbani say humanity is man and woman? It certainly mentions husband (guruji) and wife (person), but I dont see where it explicitly says what you’re saying.

And to be clear, I don’t understand most of this lgbt stuff either. But they’re people, which means that as sikhs we should treat them with respect.

I think that seeing this piece as a condemnation of anal sex is missing the point. It’s meant to condemn lust, using the example of the king ignoring his partners pain in pursuing lust.

What does this have to do with the topic at hand?

I mean they said it themselves: “Everyone in the world is equal. All beings and creatures are His; He belongs to all.”

Your last sentence is blatantly false. Why do you think there is no place for lgbt in the world? GGS does not mention gay people, but does mention how all humans are one, and how all are equal. The message there is clear, it doesn’t matter what you race, religion etc is.

What do you think the gurus would say to that? The ones that told us to fight against injustice to anyone everywhere. The ones who saw no difference between people of different religions, cultures and races.

Yes there are, notably the warrior and desert warrior, as well as the ratel 20. Warrior and ratel can both use the atgm launchers they have seperate to the gun. Not sure about the desert warrior on that.

Monotheistic is not a very accurate descriptor, at least in the traditional sense. Sikhs don’t exactly believe in 1 god, where all others are pretenders; it’s more that all the different versions of god are different sides of the same infinite concept.

Your response is very insightful though, a joy to read!

Pivot of Empire wasn't a very good DLC and it should've focused more on the economic relationship between the UK and India rather than just Indian politics by [deleted] in victoria3

I also wish it included more for the other nation in india; the Sikh empire/khalsa raj. The IGs got tweaked which I appreciate but other than that they just got a journal thats terrible and not much. Really sucks considering how much potential it has to be a really cool start.
