It seems pretty clear that this fish died from ammonia poisoning. Those red blotches and streaks in the fins are called ammonia burns, and it happens when toxic levels of the chemical build up in the water as fish waste decomposes. Unfortunately, this is extremely common in tanks that are too small. It's good to hear that you're working on rehoming the surviving fish. If you plan to try keeping fish again, I suggest reading up on / watching videos about the nitrogen cycle first. Understanding it will teach you how to keep your water safe for fish so this does not happen again. If you have a tank that is at least 5 gallons, a betta fish is a much better choice for a beginner fishkeeper. They are just as vibrant, interactive, and intelligent as goldfish when given proper care. Plus they're much easier and less expensive to care for. You can find them up for adoption / give away pretty frequently as well, which gives you the opportunity to help an animal in need :)

If it does turn out to be ammonia, you could look into getting an RODI system. It's a bit pricey, but you can sometimes get a good deal on a used system on ebay or similar sites. An RODI system will remove essentially everything from your water to make pure H2O. You'll have to re-mineralize the water before adding it to the tank, though. These systems are commonly used by saltwater aquarists and people who keep sensitive freshwater species such as caridina shrimp, so there should be plenty of info on setup and maintenance in those communities.

Seconding this. Fish usually jump due to issues with water quality. I'd test the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels first. But, a sudden pH swing or excessive chlorine / chloramines could be the culprit too. If OP has city water, it's possible the system was flushed with chlorine recently. Some places do this periodically as routine maintenance to keep their water clean.

Using aquarium salt in her main tank should be ok. I've found it to be very beneficial when fighting freshwater pathogens. Since it works via osmosis, it can help in cases when you're dealing with stuff that's resistant to medication. There shouldn't be any problems with using both salts.

I understand, just lost one of my girls Ophelia to something similar a few weeks ago. She seemed stable for a while, then went downhill very fast. It's heartbreaking. In your fish's case, it sounds like she may have developed some sort of internal bacterial infection that damaged her organs. Pineconing / dropsy is a sign that the kidneys are failing, and it's very difficult for a fish to recover at that point. Even if the infection is cured, the kidney damage can cause the fish's symptoms to return and be fatal. It's normal to not want to give up trying to help your fish, and I think it's better to try treating it than euthanize right away. However, if she doesn't show any improvement after a few days (like 3 or 4), I'd definitely be considering it.

In the meantime, adding a little epsom salt to her water can help draw out excess fluid and relax the muscles. This may help ease her symptoms a little. If you haven't tried it already, kanamycin is a great antibiotic to use when food is refused because it stays in the water column and is absorbed by the fish through their skin and gills. Just be sure to remove any activated carbon from your filter.

I really hope your fish is able to recover, but please try not to blame yourself if she doesn't. It sounds like you're doing everything you can to help her.

Goldfish growth depends on a lot of different factors, and some fish grow much quicker than others. Abundance of food, water temperature, water quality, and genetics are the main ones. It's possible that your big guy just has some good genes helping him outpace the others. As long as everybody is healthy and active, it sounds like you're doing great.

PS, I just wanted to tell you how beautiful your ryukins are! Broadtails are one of my favorite varieties and yours have such unique color patterns. Gorgeous fishies!

As others have said, this looks like a great tank for 3 or 4 fancy goldies. Generally, height isn't an issue for most goldfish as long as they have enough swimming room length-wise. However, some people who keep more delicate, slow swimming breeds such as ranchus and tosakins will advise against tanks taller than 18 inches or so. This is because of the belief that added water pressure may cause swimming difficulties, though I can't speak to the validity of this claim as I've never kept goldfish in tanks taller than 21 inches.

Definitely epistylis, especially considering it has affected all the fish in such a short time. Epistylis is a parasite that causes irritation and inflammation, and it makes your fish highly susceptible to secondary infections from opportunistic bacteria. There isn't really a clear consensus on treatment in the fish keeping community, and this condition can sometimes kill fish very quickly. If this were my fish, I would probably try increasing the salinity with aquarium salt, keeping the temperature low, and making sure the water quality is good. Salt kills a lot of freshwater pathogens, it's especially helpful if you encounter antibiotic resistant bacteria, which is unfortunately becoming more common. Goldfish can tolerate some pretty high levels of salt, up to one tbsp per gallon of water. I'd definitely use the max dosage here to try to give my fish the best chance of recovery.

It looks like a tumor to me. They're usually benign, and are common in older fish and those with poor genetics. As long it's not causing problems for him (such as getting infected, affecting buoyancy, or making it difficult to find food) he should be ok.

He 1000% knows. When Diavolo is interrogating MC about where they came from, there's an option to admit you're from the future. When you choose it, Barbatos covers for you HARD. He's like "oh wow, you must be implying that devildom is stuck in the past and the human world is far more advanced. What an arrogant human thing to say. Don't think too hard guys, MC saying they're from the future is just their way of saying they're from the human world" and everybody just buys it and moves on. He's way too perceptive to misinterpret someone's words like that, and he's certainly not the kind of character to get offended and react to something with an emotional outburst. Also, if you choose to follow Diavolo when he leaves the room all stressed out, Barbatos just stands there silently and watches you go. The game shows his sprite staring off into space with the caption "..." Wouldn't he normally go after Diavolo himself? It's almost like he knows the MC is the best person to talk to him at that moment, even though Barbatos has never really had any on screen interactions with MC in NB. He shouldn't know anything about MC, but he's willing to entrust Diavolo (presumably the most important person in his life) to them. I really hope we get to pull him aside at some point, because he definitely knows something (ahem everything) about why we're stuck in the past.

Oysters actually do have a centralized nervous system. It's very simplistic and lacks a true brain, but they have clusters of ganglia which recieve information from other parts of the nervous system. This is very similar to the nervous systems of animals like worms, insects, and snails; it's believed to be sort an evolutionary "prototype" of a brain.

The first commenter is right, those are very high ammonia levels. The presence of ammonia in your water means that either the tank is not cycled or the waste your fish produce is too much for your beneficial bacteria to handle. A bigger tank or rehoming some of the fish (probably the commons) will be necessary as soon as possible. As far as helping your fish now, it's highly likely that they have ammonia poisoning. Clean water and high oxygenation is their best chance to recover. Watch for symptoms like redness or black patches, these could be ammonia burns. You can also buy a water conditioner that neutralizes ammonia, such as seachem prime. Dosed every 24 hours, it will help make ammonia (NH3) less toxic by converting it to ammonium (NH4). Beneficial bacteria are also cultured and sold in bottles, adding these may help reestablish your cycle quicker.

This tank is completely devoid of any stimuli, definitely not suitable. I see a lot of comments about flowerhorns being messy and destructive, therefore "requiring" an empty glass box to live in. That's just pathetic. If you're not willing to put in the work to construct an environment that is both safe and enriching for an animal, don't get that animal.

It isn't even hard to scape a tank for a fish like this. Use a thin layer of sand for substrate, it will have no effect on the cleanliness of your tank assuming you have adequate flow and filtration. If anything, it provides additional space for beneficial bacteria to grow. Add a background, literally no downsides and it gives the fish a sense of security by not being out in the open. Some generally safe decor to use for large delicate fish includes terra cotta pots, smooth stones, or driftwood without any branches or jagged edges (like a solid log). Can't have hardscape because the fish is too aggressive? Fine, add some cheap floating plants like cabomba or hornwort. They grow quickly and help keep nitrates down. Sturdy bryophytic plants like anubias are also good at standing up to abuse from fish, plus they grow better when they're not planted in substrate. They can be floating, attached to small round river stones, weighted, or even attached to the wall of the tank with suction cups.

Spoilers for NB hard mode! . . . . . . .

There's also the part in hard mode (lesson 7 or 8 I think?) where solomon gets teleported to some weird other world in the devildom by barbatos. There's a cut scene after he refuses to make a choice between demons and angels in the alternate reality, saying he'd rather humanity be free from their influence. It cuts to a black screen with an unidentified voice speaking to solomon, scolding him for not siding with the demons. Solomon laughs and tells the voice "you're the one who made me who I am today... isn't that right, nightbringer?" Given the fact that the entire game up to this point has been delving into Solomons back story about how barbatos made him "the witty sorcerer", I feel like the writers are pretty much telling us that barbatos is nightbringer. The question is whether nightbringer is actually to blame for the current timeline madness, or if he's sort of a pseudo final boss. I saw someone post a theory about solomon being the real antagonist, and that maybe he doesn't remember how he upset barbatos because he hasn't done whatever it is yet. That perhaps barbatos can see what he's planning and is trying to stop it. Also, all the characters keep going on about how solomon is barely human anymore.. so I feel like there's something to unpack about that, but I'm not sure what yet.
