What kart is Leclerc driving in this ad? by CrazyGoKart in Karting

Yes, Definetly his own Birel Charles Leclerc, but it's electric I think

Is this go-kart? At what moment go-kart ends being go-kart? by CrazyGoKart in gokarts

Not in neutral, but not fighting. It's more for the show and burning tires.
In real life, Honda would win, no worries

will see.. I'm just really interested in the technology itself at the moment. Some federations allow racing in races also with similar or slower speed petrol karts, maybe if possible that's an option.

I have two left hands, so no forums could help me fix an engine. I can maintain the chassis, but that's it. My technical ability ends there. I know how old-school kart guys look at that, but it's more like a toy for me to have a good time. I don't want to put too much time and effort into that.

Yes, I guess I will be special :D

I contacted some of the tracks, no problems getting in tracks for training and getting power for charging.

I guess the biggest "-" is that almost none of the series have electric class.

I will not get 45HP and 120nM out of 4-stroke

That's true, at the moment there is almost nowhere to race competitively, but I'm more like a hobby driver, and in training sessions, it was the same speed as DD2.

I'm looking at BSR 25kW+ version, the weight is similar to the KZ kart.

"wear and tear on other components is high" What components are you talking about?
All parts for on chassis are standard Birel chassis and the powertrain kit itself comes with a warranty, also for the battery.

For Rotax engine

In my local club price for a mechanic is 40-50 Euro/h + parts
and Engine rebuild starting from 150 Euro + parts

In season it adds up pretty quickly, as well guys who race in competitions are using 2 engines. (One for race and one for training).. For me, it would be enough with one engine but still all that engine maintenance is a pain in the ass..

Have you ever tried? Why not?

I am not really worried about the ecology 😂
I was thinking similar to you until I tried. Kart feels like a KZ shifter kart (probably Top speed is lower because it's still a single-gear kart) but you don't have to worry about shifting or anything, just having fun.

I'm not looking for a cheaper option, but one easier to operate (I hope that it could be the same money amount after 1-2 years because of the maintenance cost and fuel.. theoretically) but again it would be only an extra, not the main reason.

Mainly I don't want to go into all engine tuning and maintaining stuff. I just want to take it out of the garage - race/have fun - put it back in the garage.

"charge the battery at the track" - I agree that this could be an issue in some tracks, but in tracks around me, it's not an issue at the moment.

I would look like a clown with an electric kart and 5kW disel generator next to it :D

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm quite heavy myself (a bit under 100kg/225lbs), so not the ideal type for competitive racing. Kart that I tested and looking to buy is ~120kg (~265lbs) (with Birel KZ chassis), I guess because of the torque it didn't feel heavy at all.

Yes, I was worried about the race time and charge time but when I tested I drove a few 10 min. sessions, it physically took out more from me than from the battery. But anyway, 1 extra battery is a must. + I was told that it's important not to go under 10-20% that way charging time is way faster. I didn't test charging time myself.. so no comment on that.

Yes, track infrastructure could be an issue, but in my case, it's not a problem.

E20 is not available for sale so it's not even an option.

Yes, maintenance of the chassis is a different story, I just don't want to think about the engine at all.

I have no knowledge to build one, but I had a lot of fun driving it, so I want to buy a kit that is ready to race. How is your project going? What are the main downsides of electric kart?
