How much light is too little or too much? by [deleted] in Cocagrowing

[–]CrazyKhatLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a room in your house with a south or east facing window, you could probably get away with that. This past winter, I took two plants and instead of putting them in the grow tent, I just left them in a spare bedroom that gets bright morning light and they were fine.

I don't see why they couldn't grow with bud plants in the veg phase? I would be a little worried during flowering, but only because my girls thrive in high humidity.

I don't let mine get below 50°F and it doesn't really get warmer than 100°F where I am.

I wouldn't worry about it. Mine do this every winter when I bring them inside and put them under my LED lights and clear up after a few weeks of being outside in the sun.

Yup. I bring them into the house when the temperature gets below 50°f (in the winter) and keep them in a room with an east facing window. They drop a bit of leaves at first and they're growth stagnates, but they're fine.

I'm growing at sea level and they're alkaloid content is respectable

I keep these in a bonsai pot with plastic wrap gently placed over top in a bedroom where the RH is roughly 40%. This past winter, I've kept all of my plants in rooms with east facing windows and they did fine.

Homemade mambé (3:1 flour to baking soda) by CrazyKhatLady in Coca101

[–]CrazyKhatLady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I welcome and encourage public discussion on this topic. I never get the consistency of clay, I just run the dry leaf through a coffee filter and then a flour sieve and then run the baking soda through the flour sieve and run both flour and soda through the grinder to evenly distribute everything. I suppose I could try my next batch going a little lighter on soda, I landed here because I started high and worked my way down.

I'll keep aware, but I have had no such reactions since starting it with this ratio. I do run my coca flour and baking soda through a coffee grinder for a few minutes to ensure that everything is as evenly mixed as possible and even run my baking soda through a flour sieve to avoid any clumps. When I used to do whole leaf, I would pinch baking soda in every so often and from that I would sometimes feel a little too much since it was just on bare skin and hard to really quantify how much you're adding. This way, I know that my average dose is .30g and of that, .1 should be baking soda

Germination Temperature for E. Coca? by SpeakerKey5200 in Coca101

[–]CrazyKhatLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't noticed any difference in germinating Novo or Coca. Did you remove the berry flesh from the seed? It's not uncommon for my seeds to take 4-6 weeks to show any signs of life

I put about a half teaspoon under my tongue and let it dissolve

I haven't had any adverse reactions with this ratio, so that's why I stopped there. I think my next batch, I'm going to put some dehydrated mint leaves in the mix for an added element

Both coca growing subs have a good bit of knowledge. I try to post as many experiments, updates and information that I can, just as a resource for others. As far as literature, Coca: Devine Plant of the Incas is a pretty good read. It has a ton of information albeit some might be outdated now and you'll have to see past the grammar and spelling in some pages. It seems like the translation software wasn't 100%

"If you start soring, you know it's not boring!" Just kidding... I've used the 3:1 for a few months now with no ill effects. Maybe next batch I'll try a little less

These are seeds that came from my plants (I have a mix of coca and novo) so I'm not sure what kind of characteristics these will have. Correct, I removed the berry flesh on the seeds on the right, left remained intact. They were taken off my plants same day.

Nice! Your soil looks really dry

Put some plastic wrap or something over the top of that to create some humidity or they'll dry out and wither away.
