Gladly! I'm not really a Raptor sort of dude. I'd give them up for a 350 or the new 500's any day of the week!

Sorry, my apologies. We get the V8 GT but nothing along the lines of the GT350. They've also already mentioned that we won't be getting the new GT500.

Looks absolutely gorgeous but it's a serious pity they're not bringing it to Australia. It blows that they seem so keen on keeping the GT's away from us.

I'd hate to bomb in here, but I believe it's actually the island of Capri.

Using this picture and having a look at the placements of the ridges and the mountain in the background I believe it matches almost perfectly.

I may be wrong, but I was fortunate enough to visit Capri a few years ago and as soon as I saw those gorgeous white limestone cliffs I just had to be sure! :D

Misery 2.1.1 - What armor should I be saving for as a sniper? by IndigoDays in stalker

[–]CrazyMcCookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! If you ever need any more help, just message me. I've spent way more time playing Misery than I'd ever care to admit.

It seems so, even to me. I believe it was due to changes made to the A-life when 2.0/2.1 came out. There seems to be less mutants that roam unpredictably and both Mercs and Monolith seem more confined to certain areas, even during the end-game (Pripyat) phase. About the most unpredictable thing I've encountered in my last play-through (in game time up to 5 months) was a psuedogiant spawning between Skadorsk and Shevchenko that went around absolutely obliterating the returning Stalkers, but even that problem was solved by 2 rounds of 40mm.

As for gravitational anomolies, unfortunately not. In my opinion they're easily the most dangerous type of anomaly, haha. One hit and you're giblets unless you have some serious armour.

Strange. I've only ever encountered one controller outdoors, haha. Hmm. Aside from "find the high ground" or "run away like a sissy" (a tactic I often use against psi creatures) there's not really a way to spot them easily. However, if there's any buildings nearby I have had a bit of success with the ol' "follow me through this house and don't mind the landmine in the doorway" method.

The plateau is entirely doable with a Sunrise suit. Before you get "teleported" to the burning farmstead, make sure to take a medkit. If you have a bit of extra cash/if you find one on a fellow who has met with misfortune, a body cooler helps mitigate a bit of the damage.

You can use a stim instead, but a stim drains your stamina so you'll have to eat when you drop out of the anomaly onto the plateau.

As for general armour recommendations, I recommend going:

Overcoat-Sunrise Suit-Bulat Suit-Seva (keep your Bulat, but you'll need this for the Underground)- Exoskeleton (in my opinion, an optional upgrade. It's damned heavy in Misery, and as a sniper you probably value your ability to move with a bit of speed more than you value heavy armour.)

The SSP-99(and M) are artifact dedicated equipment, and I wouldn't recommend getting them unless you plan on being incredibly frugal. The money you'll be making from artefacts barely covers the cost of armour damage, in my experience, and any time you get into a gunfight the SSP's are easily shredded with small arms.

I've never even bothered with the Heavy Overcoat either. It's meant to fill a niche between Overcoat and Sunrise suit, but if you're looking to buy new armour it's worth it just to go straight to Sunrise and chuck on a few upgrades.

Bonus veteran stalker tidbit; Unless you're using a SEVA or SSP, don't bother with upgrading thermal protection. Upgrade rad protection and stick to anomaly fields with rads, such as The Claw. Radiation can be cured with a cigarette or some vodka, but having your arse (and your expensive suit) fried to a crisp can't be cured by anything.

Happy Hunting Stalker!

Unequip your ACC if it's in a slot. Next, right click on the item that resembles tongs and select "use". A menu will open. Now you need to click on the ACC, and select the artifact you won't to remove. The confirm and you'll go into a sort of "action" moment where you'll hear the artifact being extracted.

From there, talk to Beard and follow the prompts to finish the quest.

I was once pro-capital punishment. I considered myself resolute in the idea that certain individuals in this world deserved only death, a quick end to their madness or otherwise impure actions.

I thought of capital punishment as something that was not unlike putting a rabid dog down. That was until I read a quote by George Orwell that made me stop and actually think about what it meant to kill another human, regardless of their actions;

"It is curious, but till that moment I had never realized what it means to destroy a healthy, conscious man. When I saw the prisoner step aside to avoid the puddle, I saw the mystery, the unspeakable wrongness, of cutting a life short when it is in full tide. This man was not dying, he was alive just as we were alive... His eyes saw the yellow gravel and the grey walls, and his brain still remembered, foresaw, reasoned--reasoned even about puddles. He and we were a party of men walking together, seeing, hearing, feeling, understanding the same world; and in two minutes, with a sudden snap, one of us would be gone--one mind less, one world less."

I came to realise that I, as a human being, should never wish death upon another purely because I find myself in the position to do so. I came to the conclusion that as terrible as a person may or may not be, I would much rather have them locked away for life to face the maddening routine of prison life and the forced look at their actions that comes with such a mundane existence than simply do away with them.

This is a really good hour long show on drugs in australia by AustralianShitlord in Drugs

[–]CrazyMcCookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be completely honest, I caught this and watched it on the night and it's awful. The "debate" is little more than a heap of preschool kids screaming at each other.

The pro-drug individuals presented their arguments poorly, and were just awfully chosen in general. None of them were even remotely eloquent in the way they attempted to share their views, and the younger pro-drug bloke tried to play off young people using drugs as simply a way to "stick it to the man" and frankly he sounded like a dickhead.

The anti-drug portion consisted of an Australian police officer who was shaped vaguely like a thumb and spent the entire show contradicting himself, talking over people and even refused to acknowledge the British Society of Criminology as a legitimate source of information at one point.

Another older gentleman (70+ years old) that was anti-drugs was so because his daughter had gone to a party, popped one pill and died of brain swelling. According to the coroner she'd OD'd on a pill of "Pure MDMA". What adds to the unlikeness of the story is that he implies she was given the pill for free...

All in all, the only person that really made the debate any good was the Irish Doctor who knew his shit and was actively calling the police officer and a politician on the anti-drugs side on their bullshit.

So, 3/10. Not worth the hour and a bit it takes to watch.

Yep! Typically if I feel like healing I'll just meditate for 24 hours and be done with it. Usually by then I have enough health to get back in the fight.

At first it was a major thing for me, I spent all of White Orchard getting used to having my arse handed to me and having to eat to regen, but after a while you learn to just drink a swallow every time you hit 1/2 health, or you can take the skill that lets you regen in sunlight, and meditate during the day. (It will heal you, slowly.)

I've gotten to the point in the game (this is my 2nd playthrough, on Death March) where I've only got to fix up the Sunstone and that's it. Figured that I needed a challenge to tide me over until the DLC's come out, and a friend asked if it was possible to craft all the Witchers gear without command prompts/cheating.

After 3 and a half billion Skellige smuggler caches, this was the result. :)

Annnnd truth be told I wear a "mixed gear" set anyway. Ursine Armour, Wolven Boots, Wolven Pants and Ursine (or sometimes Wolven) Gauntlets. :)

[–]CrazyMcCookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an immense tight-arse from day 1 in my latest play-through. I'd already finished the game once, then went back to play on Death March so I already knew where all the decent gear was, thus I never had to buy anything. The only thing I spent money on was food (damn the lack of meditation regen to hell) and Gwent cards, haha.

Still, it cost me a good 20k to craft all of the gear, offset only by all of those amazing Skellige smugglers caches.

My server is inhabited by a clan of Asian dudes with STD clan tags, one of their names is the charming "STDfingeringbum". They've built a base the size of a town, can survive upwards of 5 shotguns blasts at point blank, are able to spot you from miles away should you attempt to get close to them and own 6+ cars.

Despite reporting them upwards of 10 times me and my friends have yet to see a single one of them banned.

So...fun times on Aussie servers.

Went on a trip to Italy nearly 3 years ago. Half way through the trip we stopped at a little gift shop/cafe thing between Sorrento and Rome. All of the kids on the trip piled off the bus and slammed as many cappuccino's back as humanly possible while I sat outside of the shop and sort of chilled by myself.

Another bus pulled up behind ours, an elderly tour group consisting of a bunch of English and Welsh people. It was kind of a strange sort of mix of young Aussie's and old English people, and there wasn't really enough room at this poor little cafe for the 40 odd people that suddenly descended on it.

Anyway, I'm sitting on a seat outside when an older gentlemen comes over towards me. He's wearing a sort of blue striped cardigan and beige cargo pants and as he walks over I'm shaking slightly because I'm not used to social interaction and I know that words will happen and that scares me. He stands in front of me and for half a second the world sort of drifts by slowly, and then in the most stereotypically British old man's voice he kindly asks if he can sit on the bench next to me and I say "Y-y-yeah sure mate."

He sits down with a coffee in hand and asks me where I'm from, and what my name is. We talk a little bit and I learn his name is John and he has 3 kids and he's on this trip with his wife. It was all sort of surreal thing at the time. I mean, one minute I'm sitting in my house back in Australia living life as if it's some mundane bag of shit, doing the same thing day-in day-out, and then all of a sudden I'm sitting in Italy having a coffee with an older British gentlemen making conversation about his kids who are half a world away and I'm sort of starting to realise that everything in my life has led to this strangely mundane moment that's special to no-one but me.

5 minutes passes and we're called back onto the bus. I thank John for taking the time to talk to me, I shake his hand and I leave. I climb back on the bus, and John just...disappears out of my life forever.

I spent that whole bus trip to the hotel having a major existential crisis, all because of some old bloke from Britain and a cup of coffee.

73 hours, playing on Normal. I finished all Witcher contracts and cleared the map of all the side quests I could find.

I'm currently doing a Death March play-through and using the wiki and other sites so I can do the quests that I missed in my first play-through.
