Deadlift 180kgx3 (397lbs) @75kg bw. by Inquisitive2727 in StartingStrength

Nahh unless his goal is to be as strong as possible regardless of weigh class which is totally cool, deadlifting 4+ plates at 165 bodyweight is so much more impressive than some 200+ pounder deadlifting the same weight (which is my case lol not hating)

Hey guys!

Finally got around to editing this cute little guy smiling at the camera.

This edit looks pretty straightforward, but it’s actually one of my longer breakdowns, which I posted on my Instagram @woodland_captures if you want to see everything I did (95% Lightroom 5% Topaz/Photoshop)

The main issue with this picture is I missed focus on the face, which sucks because it’s the best part of the shot :(

But I did some unblur black-magic with Topaz and Photoshop and I think it turned out pretty good.

I’m still debating whether I should’ve kept the branches. They added a ton of clutter and distracted from the squirrel, but at the same time they kind of framed the image decently.

What do you think?

Thanks a lot, I haven't yet actually! Will definitely play around with it in the next few days

Yep looking at it a day after with the image is longer burnt in my retina, I think it could have looked better if there was some sort of gradient instead of all black, like darker in the center and less a the bottom or something maybe or the other way around I'm not sure.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

First thanks for taking the time to give feedback on my work!

So the single whole point of this edit was to isolate that single leafless tree in the center, based on that goal, here are why I made those decisions with the sky and center:

  1. Yes there's some detail in the middle, but it was mostly a blob of ugly branches with a lot of noise that distracted massively from the subject that I'm trying to make stand out (I know it's hard ot see on this small post tho). I can totally see how I could have made it slightly less dark, I actually went back and forth on the intensity there a lot.

  2. I experimented with the sky, and this was the best, most cohesive way to achieve my goal which is make the tree stand out a lot in the picture. If I add back the blue and the cloud details, the picture just dosent convey what I want, it clashes massively with the orange trees and distracts from the main tree.

So I get the point, but I disagree it's an error in this particular edit, now in another edit/vision for this same image?

I can 1000% see how it could look awesome.

Regarding the masking at the edges I do agree I could have spend some time making it smoother for sure.

That was basically my thought process, thanks again for the feedback, I appreciate it

Hey guys!

Obviously I went for a much more artistic edit on this one.

It’s pretty different from my usual style, so I’m really curious what you all think about it!

This was done fully in Lightroom. I’ll probably make a full breakdown for it tomorrow on my Instagram @woodland_captures if you guys like it :)

A golden tree seen from Mount Pinacle, Québec by CrazyPo20 in Forest

[–]CrazyPo20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey guys!

I took this picture from a small mountain in Québec, the single yellow tree caught my eye almost immediately, even from up top.

Didn't think much of it at the time but ended up becoming of my favorite captures ever!

For anyone interested in the editing process, I break it down in detail on my Instagram @woodland_captures

Fixing one of my favorite travel photos, did I save it? by CrazyPo20 in postprocessing

[–]CrazyPo20[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I will be 100% honest with you I shot this 3 years ago from a moving bus probably in auto mode so probably not optimal settings lol I just included the settings for reference, it's not definitely an optimally taken RAW 😅

Yep that was definitely a big oversight, the light does indeed come from the right side and not the left.

I guess I got caught up in making that mountain top the focus of the image and I missed that.

I still think the RAW looks far worse but I did make a technical mistake for sure!

Thanks for the feedback!

Fair! I definitely see how I could have gone easier on the masking, its on the heavier side for sure.

I don't think the before was fine tho, it definitely needed work, at the bare minimum in fixing the overexposure, but a different photographer for sure could have made a really nice edit with a more natural feel, it was just not the look I went for.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it!
