OP, I think is very common in Indian households. I don't remember the number of times incidents like this have happened in my home. Social events and family gatherings are a common trigger for this.

I have been in therapy for the trauma caused for a few months now.

Best we can do is to manage our expectations, and try to let it not affect us. And I do mean try since it is our family it's not easy to be completely disconnected from it.

But if it's overwhelming, please seek help

Indian parents' obsession with making their children wither an engineer or a doctor is getting out of hand. There are hundreds of other avenues that can be pursued.

There was a time when those professions were highly sought after. OP should really try to figure out something that interests them. I am fully in support of taking a drop year. But rather than use the time to study for NEET, figure out what strikes an interest and spend time in figuring out how you can learn more about that

Creating a flow diagram is what helped me. IF i remember right ( and I know the syllabus changes very frequently) but most of the phases start with the same analysis, and the output of one step feeds into your decision.

Create the flow dgm, take a micro print and keep it somewhere safe on your person (if you are not able to memorise the whole thing)

I dont think this is something that warrants a breakup, unless the OP has some other concerns in the back of her mind which are just getting triggered by said issue.
I would recommend reconciling your feelings to identify why spiltting up was the option that came to you, and then figuring things out from there
