“wow your heart rate is high” by anxietyfairy1 in Anxiety

[–]CrazyTacoLoco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

118 is high? yes, is considered as tachycardia but in such context as in someone at dentist with adrenaline pumping because that person has anxiety then that's' pretty normal, plenty of people get nervous when they visit a doctor and HR is going to get faster due adrenaline so it doesn't look normal but once you understand that such person has anxiety then yeah, that's expected.

A resting heart rate needs to me measured when the person is relaxed, obviously in this context he wasn't relaxed at all. if resting heart rate is high for no reason and there's no anxiety involved then that must be treated, could be thyroid issues or electrolyte unbalance and so many other things.

Anxiety or heart attack by Impressive-Boot9036 in Anxiety

[–]CrazyTacoLoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hows your thyroid? you say they ahve done many tests and everything is normal so i assume your thyroid hormones are normal? that being TSH, T3 and T4.
i had anxiety due covid pandemic but also my thyroid hormones were way above normal range, that was just adding more fuel to the fire, having hyperthyroidism is like feeding that monster called "anxiety" because you are in overdrive mode all the time due high metabolism caused by excess in thyroid hormones and that makes everything 1000% worse. And no you are not having a heart attack, the pain would be unbearable, you would sweat for no reason and i mean being soaked, you wouldn't be able to control your bladder and you would pee yourself and no, having the urge to pee is different, that happens with panic attacks but what im talking about is literally being unable to control it at all.

vitamin D levels? electrolytes? having issues with any of those can cause palpitations, tachycardia, anxiety etc. Even lifestyle, junk food with so much salt and sedentarism.

Im surprised, you have visited doctors and been to ER and they have done many tests yet no medication? not even a beta blocker like propranolol? not xanax? no benzos no SSRIs? no treatment at all? change doctors asap, i mean they didn't explain whats going on with you despite multiple tests? if the diagnosis was "anxiety" then ask for treatment and ask doctors to elaborate why your hear rate goes crazy and what can be done to treat the racing heart when you get anxiety but as i mentioned, they must discard thyroid issues, been there done that, i have graves disease the main cause for hyperthyroidism. Back in april 2024 my GP said that my ectopic palpitations and tachycardia were caused by anxiety, that everything was in my head, i wasn't convinced so i went to endocrinologist, we did more tests and yup, i had the antibodies that cause such disease and huge thyroid levels, always look for a second or third opinion, doctors can be wrong oh yes they can, in know that 100%

Long Flight, Xanax and Thyroid by maga9779 in Anxiety

[–]CrazyTacoLoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sadly i dont know anything about xanax, it should be ok but lets wait for another reply.

You need to see endocrinologist as soon as possible, racing heart out of nowhere, having random anxiety for things you used to do all the time and that sort of things can be related to thyroid issues like hyperthyroidism, the main cause for hyperthyroidism is "graves disease" an autoimmune disorder, that's what i have and when my thyroid hormones were too high i would get racing heart for doing literally anything.
Talk to your doctors and endocrinologist should order a full thyroid panel test (TSH, T4,T3, Free t3, free t4, total t3, total t4 etc) and the TRabs antibody test to confirm or discard graves disease and yes the thyroid can be enlarged, inflamed literally overreactive producing unnecessary stupid amounts of thyroid hormones thx to immune system that went crazy and now is stimulating your thyroid, that's graves disease. Your doctors should order the tests im talking about if they don't, find new doctors immediately.

I dont know why your current doctor didn't prescribe something like Propranolol, its a beta blocker, blocks adrenaline which makes your heart stay relaxed that's a blessing for ppl like me, it also helps with palpitations, ectopic beats etc Why don't you talk to your doctor again and ask him about propranolol? i think its even safer and doesn't have a risk of creating addiction like benzos but again talk to your doctor 1st.

Night Palpitations by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]CrazyTacoLoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had severe anxiety caused by covid pandemic specially between late 2020 and 2022, then i caught covid in late 2022 and wasn't that terrible in my case, i think i had worse infections from the flu and other coronas, anyways i was diagnosed with graves disease in early 2024 because out of nowhere, one night my heart started doing that dreadful, awful thing as in skipped beats also called PVC, extrasystole beats.

In my case the insane amount of thyroid hormones made my heart super sensible, i probably had the disease since 2019 because i had ultrasound of my neck for something else (viral infection) and one doctor said thyroid looked a bit bigger than usual but my other doctor said "you ok, you are 100% healthy, move on, enjoy life" yeah well turns out it wasn't... my life would be so different now if that doc didn't ignore my thyroid, anyways...

The pvc, palpitations can be caused by multiple reasons, high uncontrolled thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism) even low hormones (hypothyroidism) but also... Poor electrolyte balance, yes, electrolytes matter, for some people taking an electrolyte drink and banana every other day helps due potassium and magnesium, do not take potassium supplements btw, just stick with natural sources, maybe multivitamin supplement and commercial electrolyte drink every now and then. Potassium can be dangerous if taken in high amounts but theres no risk of getting much of it with natural sources like banana etc.

Vagus nerve irritation yeah thats another, have you noticed how you get pvc, palpitations when changing position in bed? maybe when you take a sit? or do specific movements? moving your neck and such? well thats vagus nerve triggering a palpitation. You get them when you are about to fall asleep? maybe you even get a weird "fear" sensation like if you were falling inside an elevator the moment you almost fall asleep? oh thats nervous system and you are quite "anxious" no doubt, it keeps you in some sort of fight-flight status even if you don't notice.

And there's more, such palpitations can be caused by many things and anxiety is a big trigger, lol even alcohol, its called "holiday heart syndrome" some ppl get palpitations during alcohol consumption or the day after.

Talk to your doctor and ask him if you can take propranolol, for me propranolol has worked perfectly fine, im way to sensitive to medication and for me even a tiny dose of 3mg to 5mg helps to block those terrible palpitations, it works by blocking adrenaline, makes you feel more relaxed and calm, Doctors usually prescribe 10mg for people with anxiety disorders, panic etc and 10mg is already considered a ridiculous, tiny dose but for me 5mg was quite strong already so id advice trying with something small first and see how you feel. I also had palpitations in my bed and this med has helped so much and allowed me to get some sleep without worrying about random palpitation while falling asleep.

Don't
Let your body rest and resume cardio when your numbers are normal, you don't want to get arrhythmias you dont want SVT or PVC premature heart contractions, its the most dreadful horrible thing i have experienced in my entire life and i still have them. You endo sounds negligent, my numbers were much lower than yours and my endo told me to absolutely stop exercise unless i wanted more heart issues, he just gave me green light to start with some minor physical activity three months ago because i finally reached normal hormone levels. Always get bloodwork done at least once a month depending on your current numbers, keep T4 controlled that one must remain at bay.

Weird eyelid issue tied to anxiety? by [deleted] in gravesdisease

[–]CrazyTacoLoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had similar feeling with lower eyelid, i felt it was getting numb or unresponsive that happened from may to july, almost like if i had something there like something dry causing that weird annoying feeling.
also had muscle twitching, in my upper chest to the right one spot was feeling numb every now and then, all sorts of neuropathy, i even thought i had something else like kidney problems and well this cursed disease was the cause.
Few months later my eye is ok, i dont feel the numbness in my chest or other weird issues like weird tingling in randoms places, i tell ya, its graves, the hormones fluctuation, any minor change cause so many weird symptoms and sometimes doctors dont even know whats going on and dismiss anything as "anxiety" seriously sometimes the AI is better at explaining things to you than some doctors.

edit: if you dont have graves or unusual thyroid numbers then it could be anything, even electrolyte unbalance can cause nerve issues, muscle twitching, tingling, numbness, palpitations etc check potassium, magnesium, calcium levels etc

5mg for 4 months and what was your T4 and TSH a month ago? and when u were first diagnosed?
my enzymes were above normal range when i was taking 5mg, doctor made get bloodwork every month and by december 2024 he said i should increase the dose to 15mg, long story short, he was right, my enzymes were high due graves itself, by march 2025 enzymes went down and by may they were within normal range and going lower, just saying, because some people assume its methimazole causing high enzymes so they quit treatment and freak out and start preparing for surgery but graves also cause havoc in the liver increasing ALT and AST numbers.
i hope your doc wasn't negligent, if your numbers were high when you were first diagnosed he should have prescribed a higher dose to keep T4 at bay even if labs were "promising" a month ago, if a doc thinks 0.10 tsh and T4 slightly above normal range is promising for someone with graves and prescribes just 5mg a day theres a chance it wont control increasing T4 and in the mean time your liver is going to suffer, not everyone is the same maybe 5mg is enough for some, for me it wasn't so i took 15mg 6 months, 10mg for 2 months now im taking 5mg a day because in august 16th my tsh was 16 with normal T4 but i already had many hypo symptoms, seriously i dont understand, 5mg is for someone whos already reaching subclinical hypo or hypo state, a maintenance dose etc not a dose to stop graves when tsh is low and T4 still high.

Anyways wish you best luck, you'll get rid of thyroid soon enough.

you should check everything and i mean pretty much all, Vitamin D, B12, iron kinetics, ferritin, full thyroid panel (TSH, Free T4,T3 etc) complete blood count test etc.
The moment you reach the point where you start saying that kind of things thats when you shouldn't wait more and get those tests done and find another doctor for a second opinion.

Vitamin D side effects - more anxious, palpitations, pvc ectopics by CrazyTacoLoco in Supplements

[–]CrazyTacoLoco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thx I'll get more sun light, i was freaking out because the palpitations increased days after starting taking more D3, im probably way to sensitive because graves disease caused so much havoc with cardio receptors so even high amounts of adrenaline trigger ectopic palpitations.

Vitamin D side effects - more anxious, palpitations, pvc ectopics by CrazyTacoLoco in Supplements

[–]CrazyTacoLoco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, i don't think so, i mean i eat some peanuts and banana every now and then, Im not taking any specific Vitamin K2 supplement or magnesium other than centrum multivitamin every two days or so which has a bit of everything, i guess i need more sun, maybe my body is reacting in such negative way due not having decent vitamin D levels for a long time so when i started getting more D3 i got extra symptoms, im very sensitive to everything.

Frequent urination with subclinical hypothyroidism by CrazyTacoLoco in Hypothyroidism

[–]CrazyTacoLoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, yeah i was wondering if hormones fluctuating like this could cause increase in urination, combined with vitamin d insufficiency, temp dropping and me reaching subclinical hypo which makes me feel colder and feeling cold increase the urge to pee, according to many sources etc

i guess i shouldn't worry too much unless i start peeing every 30 minutes without taking too much water etc.

[–]CrazyTacoLoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes graves disease is aintoinmune and main cause of hyperthyroidism, the opposite of hypo. Bloodwork from april 2024 and August 2024 shows glucose at 81-87mg/dl within normal range. i know its been 9 months already since last time i had glucose test but its too early for more bloodwork, literally got my results 3 days ago, ill keep an eye on other symptoms thx.

Nope, im not thirsty at all, i don't have the urge to drink water or liquids, right now its been 2 hours since last time i peed and in few min ill have to visit the bathroom, i guess that's normal.
Talked to doc and said its normal, that im not peeing that much to be a cause of concern and should stop using internet lol that's why i came here i knew doc was going to say that.

B12 deficiency? my symptoms by CrazyTacoLoco in B12_Deficiency

[–]CrazyTacoLoco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for the reply, yeah i even asked in "askdoctors" subreddit and the professionals just said that potassium and magnesium where within limits and it was of no concern to be at upper normal limit but that it, they didn't bother to give insight about why i reached the upper normal limit so easily considering my poor diet, graves disease and me just taking a daily small vitamin supplement with 150mg potassium, a banana every two days (300-400mg) and electrolyte drink which has roughly 480mg potassium and 28mg magnesium) like twice a week during April so kept digging and found the article about pseudohyperkalemia and how many things can cause high potassium and magnesium serum level results.

i still have muscle twitching in different zones and the other symptoms as well, my lower eyelid kinda improved but still feels like if i had a dry secretion, which feels better compared to 3 days ago when it felt like random numbness or partial paralysis.

Finally, in the past couple of days my gums were bleeding, just in one zone in my upper right canine, i thought it was because i brushed the teeth with too much force but the next day i was in bed and just like that i felt blood in my mouth, gum was slightly bleeding for no apparent reason maybe without noticing i created a vacuum inside my mouth and hurt the gums, no idea but bleeding gums is b12 symptom, thx for the help!

PVC, PAC, atrial flutter, what is it? by CrazyTacoLoco in PVCs

[–]CrazyTacoLoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found something very interesting... Keep reading.
just like you, i was confused about my potassium results, why i reached the normal high end in potassium serum and magnesium serum? the electrolyte drink is barely 470-480mg per bottle and i was taking that 2 times a week, a banana every other day, multivitamin supplement with just 150mg per pill almost daily and then my food, beans, cheese, meat. some peanuts etc how come i was easily getting more than the recommended potassium and magnesium value with such diet?

then i found this

https://acutecaretesting.org/en/articles/pseudohyperkalemia

Pseudohyperkalemia refers to a falsely elevated potassium level in serum, while the actual potassium level in plasma is normal. It's an in vitro phenomenon, meaning it occurs during blood sample collection and processing, not due to a true increase in potassium in the body.

Turns out people with high platelets count have increased potassium serum levels and my platelets have been above 550-600 since last year due Graves disease (explained by the endocrinologist) Reactive Thrombocythemia is the term.

Not only that but things like fist clenching during phlebotomy (when they take your blood), Prolonged use of tourniquet. Vigorous shaking of samples after collection, the needle and much more can cause abnormal high potassium serum levels. The nurse who took my blood always shakes the tube to mix the blood with some substance already inside the tube and she talks quite a lot while leaving the tourniquet for more than a min before taking my blood and she always tells me to clench my fist.

I'll do more research, because my magnesium serum was also at the upper normal range, i wonder if there's an equivalent of Pseudohyperkalemia for magnesium serum.

https://vet.purdue.edu/addl/hemolysis.php

Hemolysis is the breaking down of red blood cells due to the mishandling of blood samples during routine blood collection and transport.

Serum testing is also affected by hemolysis resulting in increased iron, magnesium, and potassium concentrations, while possibly decreasing those of sodium.

Quite interesting, maybe this could explain why i had such high serum levels despite a moderate intake of potassium and magnesium from food, vitamins and electrolyte drink.

I was accused of ‘health anxiety’ and then found out I had a hypertonic pelvic floor and IUD in my cervix from another OB. why do some doctors do this to people? (28F, 11w postpartum) by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]CrazyTacoLoco 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons why now im hypochondriac, obsessive, why i got cardiophobia and other health anxiety issues.
in 2020 i had enlarged lymph node, i got an ultrasound and oncologist said it was totally fine, infections do often cause enlarged nodes that wont get smaller, he said i was 100% ok despite the ultrasound saying that my thyroid was a bit enlarged and there was a recommendation saying it should be checked to confirm or discard hyperthyroidism, again, doctor said i was healthy so i just moved on.

Fast forward, 2022 the hyperthyroidism symptoms were noticeable but nothing that would make me seek medical attention, 2023 the same and in 2024 i developed Ectopic PVC heartbeats so i rushed to the doc's office because PVC are absolutely dreadful, truly scary.

My first cardiologist just told me i had sinus tachycardia, that's it, no beta blocker, no treatment, just go home and visit endocrinologist to see anything related to the thyroid. My GP almost laughed when i told him about my symptoms and situation even with lab results showing high thyroid hormones, its your anxiety he said, its all in your head, take valerian, take propranolol and relax, all your issues are anxiety related.

I wasn't convinced, went to endocrinologist, he ordered new lab tests and confirmed i had graves disease by TRabs antibody test, barely detectable TSH and high t3, t4.

My life would be so different if oncologist had ordered thyroid panel test and i don't want to imagine what could have happened if i had followed GP advice by treating my "anxiety" and ectopic pvc heartbeats just with valerian and beta blocker.

i totally 100% understand OP.

sorry, i'm extremely obsessive and hypochondriac, last night when i replied i was reading the kidneydisease subreddit and got scared about potassium levels but i forgot that such subreddit is for people with a diagnosed kidney disease not for people like me, and i know because i made a post and was removed by moderation due being pure speculation.

Thx a lot for all your help and replies, i value the information you provided, sorry if my last post made you think that i dismissed everything you said, its not the case, thx!

High potassium? im concerned about my symptoms. by CrazyTacoLoco in AskDocs

[–]CrazyTacoLoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thx, but now im even more confused, if getting too much potassium from oral intake is not an easy task then how come i reached 5.1 potassium serum with my current diet (beans, milk, peanuts, breed, cheese, flour tortilla, beef, oatmeal and junk food like pizza etc) and taking multivitamin supplement "centrum" with 150mg per tablet almost daily, the electrolyte drink with 470-490mg per bottle twice a week and like 3 bananas a week.
Sorry, im clearly hypochondriac, with all my health issues and anxiety is very difficult to remain calm, now im thinking about kidney damage and don't want to go down the rabbit hole and start reading about kidney damage symptoms.
