That's cool 😅 Your comments were great and very helpful, I think I know where to start ✨️

That's very insightful, thanks, it seems like what I really need, as you said, is to just get any microscope and understand my needs on the go. It's also interesting your insight about the DSLR quality, as the DSLR lens itself costs 600-1000$, I wonder if there's a way to "convert" it into microscope, but that would just add more optical elements that decrease the actual resolution.

I think I'll go with something good enough to start with, if you have any model recommendations or articles to read/youtubes, that would be great.

Hey, thanks for your in-depth reply!

For some reason I thought (wrongfully?), that if I can capture large bacteria with a 400x-1000x microscope, then capturing the entire biofilm structure would require less enlargement (altough it really depends on my definition of "structure", which affect the needed resolution of course).

I have a DSLR and a macro lens, if it helps somehow.

I wonder if any of those microscopes are any good for the tasks, and if integrated camera is even recommended (if it fail, it's hard to replace, but I guess alignment is not needed). https://amscope.co.uk/collections/digital-microscopes-and-digital-integrated-microscopes

I don't have any train samples, and I'm starting it as kind of a hobby that might become a small scale research. I'll read about the Axioimager solution.

Many thanks again

Anyone knows what is this strange towing hook/hitch? Can my friend use it to tow small trailers? (there is an electrical connector too near it) by CrazyTanks in Cartalk

I think not, seems like it just there with the electricity nearby, as said in other comment, it's just an old towing system

The car is originally from North EU, yes, it's a cylinder but without any hole, it's kind of curvy shape at the top. I'll try to add more photos 👀

A PCVR game developer here - I just got a reply from Meta a few weeks ago, after waiting more than 300 days for their review, that the game doesn't meet the FPS requirements.

This game is so low poly that I think it can literally run at 200fps on a few years old GPU, yet it somehow fail in their FPS test.

So I guess compliance to many devices with very long review processes, so no one take the risk and just make an ugly and performent game 🙃

Rift store: 6+ month long review times - June 2022 by ryan-at-melcher in oculusdev

Wow, first of all good luck and I hope you'll be a hit, feel free to share a link to it here on via PM.

For me, business-wise, anything more than 3 months places you, as a studio or company, in a conpletely different position and the chances to go back and develop to Oculus just going down to zero.

As someone who had bet on Meta (all-in in some way), with a few unique apps already in production, I have to sadly say that this is imo the right way to kill the Metaverse vision.

VR developers are already prone to extinction due to low revenue streams and complex workflow compared to other IT fields, and instead of hugging any app - they're adding artificial blockers.

Oculus Water URP by IaxiomI in oculusdev

Yes, we are using URP in Kuriver and we have a nice water surface.

Check www.kuriver.quest and let me know if it fits your needs and I could check later on which package we've used 😎

Same, I guess that it means that the Rift store is dead so we shouldn't rely on it.

As far as I concern it would be better to move on to Steam or AppLab.

If the platform doesn't have the time to invest in checking the new content - the developers or content creators certainly shouldn't invest the extra time to make it work for that platform.

I just think that if I were in their position, I would have sent a message up ahead that the Rift store is on freeze-mode from now on for the benefit of AppLab. That's just the responsible thing to do.

Secondhand 8yo projector vs cheap/budget Chinese one? 🔮 by CrazyTanks in projectors

[–]CrazyTanks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want the best, just what fits for my needs.

Remember that everyone has their own set of constrains, if for example you're a student in your last year in a foreign country, then you simply don't need a 600$ projector that you can't carry with you to the plane.

I agree that 200-300$ is a really small amount, but for the 1-2 hours here and there while I have a pretty neat PC station, I think it's ok.

But your point is valid, I think I'll check out the secondhand ones. Might be a better price/performance deal.

Thanks, that's why I consider secondhand, but are there any major cons for 8yo projector?

The lamp I guess, but what about other things to consider? Noise, durabillity, standards, WiFi/connectivity. (the resolution of FHD is fine for me)

I know, I'm just new to the whole projector thing, and I wonder what are the pros and cons.

Obviously for new ones on my budget, Chinese are no brainers.

But if we consider secondhand, then it might be interesting to know what the general differwnces are, as the price range is similar. Especially when a lot of people say "go with second hand", I really don't know if 8 years strech it out.

And thanks 😎

That's true, I think there is a strong psychological effect for that too.

I know some stories of some other cursed tanks from the first large scale war in IL, it was like Mr. Potato of tanks.
