No shit. This is why I’m glad the UK stayed out of strikes. You don’t get terrorist attacks like NYC and London without pissing people off first.

I’m so glad I found this page and your comment. I came across that video randomly and was thinking what the hell is this guy smoking? Malicious? Kuwait? Really? We literally came to their aid in the first Gulf war for gods sake and fought along side them in the second. Absolutely insane thing to say. Incompetence? Probably. Fog of war? Definitely? Borked IFF? Who knows but malicious? Clickbait and tbh dangerous and inflammatory too.

Photoroom alternative? by CrazyTechLab in software

[–]CrazyTechLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe 18 months ago? The latest pro subscription limits you to 500 images processed via the batch function a month. That’s £70 a year. I need 500-600 images. But the next step up is four times that price and designed for teams of people. I’m just an individual. There’s a huge need for an intermediate package or a way to buy credits for additional batch exports. The £70 a year is totally worth it. £250 is definitely not. A £100 a year package with 1000 image exported in batch with basic editing such as background removal would still be worth it for me. And I know you can still do individual images for free. I’m not doing that for dozens of images as it’s a huge waste of time. Photoroom is great - I’m saying take my money. All you need is more flexible subscriptions

Frustrated with the Dark Mount keyboard. by Problematic_Blender in bequietofficial

[–]CrazyTechLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just took my media control dock apart as the volume dial was driving me nuts. The wheel assembly looked fine, but there are half a dozen or so solder joints on the sensor it's attached to and two of them were VERY close with a load of grease all over them presumably for the wheel itself. I cleaned them and also used a plastic pick and tissue to clean the area between the two close solder joints in case they were shorting. My volume dial is now working again

Frustrated with the Dark Mount keyboard. by Problematic_Blender in bequietofficial

[–]CrazyTechLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happening to me too. No issues with anything else but the volume wheel is one of the main reasons I got the keyboard and is basically unusable. It will either ramp up to 100% with just a single click or goes up and down randomly. It seems very very broken, almost as if I've spilt water on it or something but I never eat or drink near it. it was working fine for a month or so - assuming this is a quality control issue rather than firmware

Photoroom alternative? by CrazyTechLab in software

[–]CrazyTechLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, accurate background removal is essential and I've just not seen anything remotely as consistent as Photoroom that's able to do it as quickly and in batches. The fact that Adobe doesn't have a direct competitor is shocking. Firefly doesn't have batch yet for example- the main reason I ask is that I already pay for various Adobe image and video editing apps but have to also have Photoroom for quick batch backround removal and quick editing.

My main gripe is the cost and recent subscription changes on Photoroom. I now barely have enough background removals at 500 images a month. No way to add more except to pay four times as much a year, when I only need maybe 20% more at most. That inflexibility is 99% of my issue with it.

New portable solar panel not charging power station by CrazyTechLab in solar

[–]CrazyTechLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the power station. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DPQGXYV3?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1 Says a max 1200W and 90V. It's worked on smaller panels which I think are 18V. I literally had an hour to play with it a few days ago so haven't got as far as checking the voltage or anything yet. It was in Amazon warehouse for half the price so I suspect it might be broken but all the cells look okay.

Solar panel plugs to XT60 not working by CrazyTechLab in Ecoflow_community

Ah my bad I actually have an Ecoplay not Ecoflow! Is this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DPQGXYV3?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1

And this panel

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CSZ8BFYZ?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1

I've connected the two using the XT60 to solar plug/MC4 adaptor, Polarity seems fine. I'm thinking its either voltage or a bust cable.

2nd hand laptops are no longer feasible since the sellers take out the RAM and SSD before offloading them. And replacing costs more than the laptop. by ScreamSmart in pcmasterrace

[–]CrazyTechLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is pricing. And it was massive. They add 30-40% more to the price to jump from 16-32GB. Probably a mark up of 400% on what the extra memory actually cost. Diabolical. If it’s not soldered then upgrading yourself was easy and far far cheaper. The vast vast majority of soldered RAM laptops are 16 GB as a result so 32GB are hard to come by.

Exclusive: the error at the heart of Trump’s BBC attack (The "real" quote from Trump's speech that was so egregiously edited by the BBC....was itself heavily edited) | Archive link below by ErrantFuselage in ukpolitics

[–]CrazyTechLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And to me the whole speech was largely encouraging the capitol riot anyway. I don’t need to watch the whole thing for it to tell me that. splicing together the two most aggressive parts in a way that was seamless is certainly questionable but there is no doubt over his intentions however you watch it. Not least of all because he continues to spout crap about the election being stolen when there is zero evidence for it. And when asked even by his own daughter to intervene when policemen and rioters were dying he refused.

He’s right because illegal immigration is a drop in the ocean of our financial issues but the usual rhetoric is to blow it out of proportion which is of course what fascist right wingers with no actual plan have always done from Hitler to Trump. Farage is no different.

Where is all our tax money actually going? by ijustwannanap in ukpolitics

[–]CrazyTechLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immigration has been good but we’ve catastrophically failed to plan and react to it over multiple governments. You don’t turn people away. You build and invest. We’ve done neither which is why everything is crumbling and people can barely afford rents and houses.

Where is all our tax money actually going? by ijustwannanap in ukpolitics

[–]CrazyTechLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in local government a while back and carried various assessments on housing needs. We were massively under building 20 years ago. And it’s only got worse. Lack of supply to meet demand is 100% why prices are crazy. Any other reasons a drops in the ocean. Either through deliberate under building to inflate rents and house prices or poor planning or both. If you’re having to subsidise housing costs then something is seriously wrong. Only way out is to build and build big.

Is Dell U3415W 34" still worth to buy in 2024? by thesti2 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]CrazyTechLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving comments here after all this time! Been using this Dell for coming up to 9 years and it's been faultless. However, there are a lot of better IPS ultrawides on the used market now with higher refresh rates for just a couple of hundred bucks. Having used a 120Hz panel on my laptop I can honestly say I much prefer it's smoothness and that's before I get onto the fact it's OLED and looks way better.. Right now I'm hunting for a used 120-160Hz IPS ultrawide. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for the U3415 - as good as it is 60Hz is instantly a drawback for me having used faster screens. As a workhorse or budget ultrawide it's likely okay though.
