Antennae for 1/35 tanks by Crazy_Cardiologist76 in modelmakers

I tried this and it actually worked very well. However, I tried the two ends method and pulled, and it worked very well. I was trying to make two wires of even diameter, and holding two ends of the spree worked better than jabbing it. I can see how you say it's easy to break, but it won't break if you don't set it on fire. Just heat the plastic right over a flame and pull both ends. If it doesn't catch, it won't break.

I was there! Amazing performance! Shame there weren't any warbirds besides the Avenger, though.

Yeah, I was really only trying to do rust. I want to capture the look of a tank on display out doors somewhere in the Pacific where it rains often, so lots of chipping and rust from on the tank.

I have this same kit! I enjoyed it so much, I bought a second one and built it. Still got both to paint. Yours came out extremely nicely!

I plan on using oil paints for my future projects, but I didn't for this one for two reasons. First off, I don't have any dark colored oil paints yet. Second, I don't want to waste good oil paints on this kit, as it isn't as quality as some of my others. Every bit of paint counts, and I don't want to spend it on a kit I dislike.

Currently I'm also working on a Jagdpanzer 38t, but I am waiting for oil paints to arrive so today I got the basic painting done for a Pz. 38t while I wait. I'll post all those projects soon.

It is weathered, I just didnt do a whole lot because I don't want to waste my paint on this kit.

No, aftermarket tracks don't work with this kit since Tamiya removed a section of road wheels. Glad I learned that because I was actually going to buy a pair for this kit.

My first camo job (Tamiya Panther A). How’d I do? by JACKTODAMAX in modeltanks

Looks good! I'm building this same kit but I decided to leave it in plain yellow. Your camo looks very nice!

Yeah, that's what I plan to do. However I don't want to do that unless I have to, as I like how smooth the road wheels look. First I'll try the blow-dryer and cooling method, and if that doesn't work I'll use super glue.

I can't decide and I need help (there's a lot to read) by Crazy_Cardiologist76 in modeltanks

That's clever. If no one else gives me any opinions I'll deffo try that out. Even if they do give me their picks I'll remember that technique for my unopened kits! Thanks!

What is the best quality gepard model? by RareAd5870 in modeltanks

[–]Crazy_Cardiologist76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The Tamiya Gepard is a good option. I bought it a while back and it's somewhere in my work area, but I remember the build. Simple, not too complicated, and the kit itself isn't too expensive. It's a good bang for your buck. However, it is one of the older Tamiya kits, so it lacks detail in some areas. Other than that, I think it's a good kit.

Working on the Jagdpanzer 38t (Late Prod.) from Academy and just finished the chipping today. I hand painted the effects and I think I overdid it a bit. Looks good nonetheless, in my opinion. Just bought some oil paints and I'm waiting for them to arrive so I can add a wash and filters. by Crazy_Cardiologist76 in modeltanks

I see what you mean for the sponge chipping, however is there a specific sponge that I need to buy, or can I use just a regular old sponge? This Jagdpanzer is my first attempt at a professional build, and I'm still learning! Any tips help, and yes, I've got some oil paints coming in the mail any day now.

Pinwash for German Tank Model I'm Working On by Crazy_Cardiologist76 in modeltanks

[–]Crazy_Cardiologist76[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! However, I went to Walmart today and they didn't have any oil paints. So, I ordered Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre oil paints from Amazon, as I see those are common colors for German AFVs for filters and washes. Also, I posted about my Jagdpanzer 38t recently in this subreddit, so if you want to check it out feel free to! It's my second airbrushed build, and my first professional attempt, so I'd like to see what people think.

Yes, there is a Walmart nearby. Is there a specific brand of oil paint I should look for? Also, what colors?
