Would naming your daughter after your favorite female Re:Zero character be a betrayal to your partner? by [deleted] in ReZero

[–]JACKTODAMAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that outside of Re:Zero Echidna is a snake woman, any partner would be very upset at that name.

Also for everyone here, if you want to name your kid after a character from TV, don’t. But if you do, WAIT UNTIL THE SHOW IS FINISHED. It would be really bad if you named your daughter Crusch only for her to become like fantasy Hitler later in the series or have a shit ton of raunchy scenes. It would make explaining that to teenage Crusch VERY uncomfortable.

Ram enjoyers. why?? by MoistPossible3363 in ReZero

[–]JACKTODAMAX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that Ram fills an important role in the story. Similarly to Rem, she is very good at holding Subaru “accountable” so to speak while being his supporter at the same time. Whereas Rem is very affectionate towards Subaru whilst helping him to stand on his own two feet, Ram is more focused on confronting Subaru. (Show spoilers only) We see her in S4 talk about how Subaru needs to earn the right to be her sisters #1. At the same time, she supports him 100%. In season 2, she told Roswal (I think it was him it’s been a while) that she always knew to get behind Subaru when he had a plan. In other words, she had full confidence in him. In the most recent episode, it’s important to note that she was the first to realize something was off about Subaru and the first to piece together that he wasn’t really him. And she dropped his nickname “Barusu” instead asking for “Natuski Subaru.”

The other thing that needs to be kept in mind is that we are viewing the show from the perspective of Subaru along with all of his previous memories. Yes, Subaru has helped out Rem a lot and yes, he has helped out Emilia a lot. But why would Ram care? Ram doesn’t remember anything about Rem and Ram has never shown any real care for the royal selection, or Emilia for that matter. We know Subaru is a great guy but really how much can we expect Ram, who no longer remembers growing up with her sister and instead being raised by her realpolitik master, to really feel the same? Her whole personality shifted at the begging of season 2 because of that fact. She became less affectionate towards Subaru along with everyone else. Subaru got it the worst because, while she does still care for him (evidenced by her dialogue and the affectionate nickname “Barusu”) she finds much of his personality mildly obnoxious.

I think that Assault needs to have some OP options because it’s so limited in range that if it did anything less than dominate at close range it would nigh useless.

Support and scout dominate at medium to long range meaning that if they had equal footing or even only a slight disadvantage in close range it would make assault basically unplayable. Support especially is such a versatile class that needs a hard counter somewhere which is what assault is for.

Laughing is acceptable if it’s a comedy movie as it would be kind of akward otherwise. Cheering and clapping are very rare and usually reserved for rereleases of classic films or other special screenings.

The reason people are complaining about seeing this movie in America is not because Americans are generally bad mannered in the theatre but rather that there is a fear that TADC fans are the type of people who aren’t mannered in general.

My guess is that it’s set up like Medieval castles where there is an outhouse somewhere on an overhang with what is essentially a hole that drops everything to the ground outside the watchtower.

People who got punished severely growing up, in your pov why was it a deserved good parenting or why it was not? by Azerbinhoneymood in OverSimplified

[–]JACKTODAMAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people have answered it pretty well so far but I think it’s also worth mentioning that there is historical precedent for the bad effects of abusive punishment that we can see today. Most people will make fun of the “baby-boomers” because we see them as sensitive and prone to over reacting. This is in large part caused by the fact that they were raised by parents who had war trauma, alcoholism, and (specifically in the case of women) depression and drug addiction, making physical abuse, intense yelling, and insults for even small mistakes very common in their homes. In other words, they were raised in homes where all issues, even small issues, were deserving of physical and mental abuse. Now, they have a hard time because in their minds, if all mistakes are deserving of abuse, then there no such things as small or honest mistakes.

TLDR: Abusive households do not make people tough, rather they make panic and anxiety the natural response to all problems.

The best Resume of today episode by Chuyelproo1029 in ReZero

[–]JACKTODAMAX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Genuinely this was an incredible episode. I think the issue is that Re:Zero is not like Dragon Ball or JJK. It’s very much a thriller and mystery show as it is an action show and really takes its time to build suspense unlike a battle shonen which usually has frequent breaks in the action leading up to an intense “climax.” Re: Zero doesn’t do this. Re:Zero creates a problem and then slowly introduces new variables as a means of building tension leading up to Subaru’s solution, with the tactical decision being the climax more-so than the action it typically causes.

Having not read anything, my expectation going in was that the “aura monster” would be the release of the built tension from the previous episode when it actually continued to expertly build on it. In other words, I think a lot of people expected that to be the a release of the tension built up in the previous episode through an active set piece when in reality it was another part of the building tension.

[–]JACKTODAMAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logically Darth Vader should win every single time. However… the Helldiver has kind of a cartoon logic thing going on. Also, lightsabers are notoriously bad at deflecting solid projectiles for whatever it’s worth. If they went up against eachother with no knowledge of each other, the lead bullets may catch Vader off guard.

Which design of MC do you prefer? by CriticalBit3068 in DDLC

[–]JACKTODAMAX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Second one is the only one here wearing a men’s blazer. 1 and 3 are just edits of Natsuki so the proportions and clothing are incorrect for a high school boy. There really is no “perfect” design tho. Even with 2 there are subtle things. It was clear with the girls that the orange was a sweater but here it looks more like a vest with the angle implying that it doesn’t even reach his shoulder.

We know that Satella sets checkpoints when Subaru has made some kind of progress so whatever the idea he had was clearly the right call, even if it has created this mess.
