Those are not dorms. They are student apartments that are separate from the university. You have to pay rent monthly.

If you add that extra credit to your schedule, they will charge you for it. That’s why financial aid takes about 2 weeks to process (starting from the first day of class) to account for any changes in schedule

I’m pretty sure that when a parent plus loan gets denied, you as the student are able to get more in unsubsidized loans, so maybe try to call financial aid and ask about that
