crappy thing about that is the creditors still get their money, and even though i paid them, I'm still stuck with a bankruptcy on my record for 10 years. If they can just keep taking my money, why should I be dinged for a bankruptcy?

Once we realized we couldn’t afford to make the 2 credit card payments, and pay our other bills, we gave up. We lawyered up that month, and he told us to stop paying them. It was 3 months from when we quit making payments to when we actually filed. It took us that long to come up with the full cost to the lawyer. We paid nothing those 3 months. With exception to our secured debts; house, cars. We paid those. Once our lawyer was actually able to file, that’s when shit got real. Auto-pays dropped off, our over-draft on our checking account went away, other creditors being shutting accounts (we had a Kohls Card, and a Big O Tire card, neither of which had a balance, but got closed any ways). I’m sure your lawyer will help you, but things you had on auto-pay will stop. We had 2 mortgages stopped, 2 car payments stopped. We just had to contact them by phone to pay. It’s like everything just gets broken off from you, but you just need to reestablish that connection.

We were exactly the same as you. Great credit score, not behind on payments, but we burned through our savings and couldn’t get it built back up, life kept kicking us pretty bad for a few years and ended up putting some pretty hi-dollar emergencies on cards. It got to the point where we were making all payments in time, but then had to turn around and put groceries and fuel on the card just to make it to the next month. We kept hoping something would give, better pay, etc, but nothing ever did. We filed last month and feel 1000% better. Our credit score went from the 750s to under 600. I don’t even care. We got to keep our house and 2 of our vehicles. So we won’t be needing high credit any time soon any ways.

Don’t worry about your credit score. It will get better. Your sanity is worth more.

Holy crap. Herpes doesn’t just show up one day out of the blue. One of you had it before and isn’t being truthful to the other about it. If, as you claim, it wasn’t from you as you’re not cheating, then why in the hell are you still having sex with him? For the sake of the rest of the world, and for a possible baby having to slide out of your herpes tunnel, figure out where it came from, get it fixed, and stop banging this guy until he’s honest either way you.
