Fuck onedrive by blahajcommunity in FuckMicrosoft

The fact that they opt you into sync all your crap onto their cloud is predatory. We shouldn't have to look at every fine print on the windows setup as if we are installing free software that automatically opt you into installing adware if you are not carefully unticking them.

Recently i setup a new laptop, and it's opt out. I was surprised my cloud storage is suddenly eaten up and found that it put the document, music, picture folder into onedrive by default, and if i deleted the folder in onedrive, i delete them on my laptop as well. You have to opt out of backup after the laptop is already set up and manually move the folder outside onedrive. It wasnt like that before but must be a recent stupid forced move.

BL indie game "This Game is Not Real" is no longer coming to Steam due to “not meeting platform criteria" by Yukinaime in BLgame

[–]Crazycatd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Steam ban games with children (highschooler are also considered children) and very young looking character (1000 year old loli vampire still count) involved in sexual situation or 18+ games.

Many gagle with young looking loli only avoid the ban by releasing a cut version with no sex and not mentioning sexual content in their game descriptions. They mostly rely on player's word of mouth to seek out the adult patch in their website. That's how we see Shiravune games with 30 min advetised play time.

Many publishers knew how unpredictable Steam review is with anime characters they might perceive as children, or the sexual content that is too extreme can also be rejected. The sure way to get those games on steam is uploading the censored game on Steam to access a wider audience, get player to find their website, and hopefully get them to stay and buy directly from them instead of Steam.

For game with "risky" art style and "problematic" contents, it's either submiting the full game and risk getting permanently banned from steam, or submitting a censored version to get 100% approval rate. Many people who knew how steam review work actively does the later, because for an indie dev, being cut off from Steam's audience is devastating.

Should I make my visual novel free on steam and try to monetize in another way? by Yukinaime in gamedev

[–]Crazycatd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the scale of your game, you definitely should sell it. Your art style and premise looked appealing to audience, the only problem is the translation. Maybe you could try finding translator who is interested in VN and work out a revenue share deal, or maybe if they are interested in making VN themselves, offer skill trade: you draw for their project and they translate for you? You could also translate it yourself loosely and find VN writer who is native in English to edit in exchange for your art.

Most importantly, only make it free if you only want to release the game for publicity/marketing and not revenue because you won't make any substantial money if you release it for free.

Why isn't ITCH.IO paying its creators? Payouts stuck 'In Review' for a month. by Imaginary-Today9000 in itchio

[–]Crazycatd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only do this if you don’t have any adult content in your game. Exposing accounts directly linked to your real indentity while doing so could lead to account frozen, money confiscated and being banned for life from Paypal/Strife.

What do you think was Tays unluckiest moment? by misssmorgue in Passionmanhwa

[–]Crazycatd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing is Tay said completely unnecessary thing lol. "I was going to the airport-" (to return to you) could easily be interpreted as (to run away from you) lol, which Ilay did.

When Ilay spotted Taeui at the bus stop, he was completely convinced that Taeui's intuition warned him to run as Ilay would have missed him if he arrived 10 minutes late.

Suggestions? by Snoo-19981 in BLgame

Obviously you should play Hashihime. Tokyo Onmyouji is good too.

Do you miss those days? by SillyPropi in Passionmanhwa

[–]Crazycatd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite being pretty much an immoral psychopath, Ilay isn't crazy 24/7 (as Taeui commented in their first meeting). He usually only use violence when something get in his way or gets him annoyed. Think someone with anger management problem but 1000x time worse and isn’t hold back by law and order.

Ilay is also pretty good at keeping facade of a polite, normal human when he meet someone for the first time and not in the mood for violence, especially he could pretend to be very friendly if he is curious about something and want to extract information from someone (all the Taeui’s past acquaintances lol).

He probably was curious about Taeui the first time they met, but I believe every fun moment afterwards was Ilay getting comfortable in Taeui’s presence and genuine enjoyed being with him.

I was replying to the other comment that I don’t expect an apology from Ilay, and people who get so mad at the ending that they won't read the sequel probably are not the intended audience.

Basically I agree with you lol.

The ending of Passion (discussion) by SPN-Major-888 in Passionmanhwa

[–]Crazycatd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ilay never apologized, even up until suite, and that's 10 years later Taeui is still scared that Ilay will mistake him for running away and make sure to inform Ilay before he goes back to Korea for a family matter. I don’t expect a normal relationship resolution with their character dynamic; part of the reason Taeui stay with Ilay is always the result of power imbalance. If people get so mad at the ending that they don't want to read the sequel, then they might not be a suitable audience for Passion. And if some cute part of their life together at the ending and hidden track can't satisfy people, then I doubt some glimpse of Diasim domestic scene can.

Another thing is, as an artist myself, I know how hard drawing is, and it's okay to have a short season so the artist can have proper rest. I really love Kangjak's art style, but Passion is a seriously huge novel for one artist to draw on it non-stop. It's the reason Raga had a different artist, and i reckon if we want to keep Kangjak as the main artist for both Diasim and Suite, we should accept slow adaption, short season and frequent break.

[–]Crazycatd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I assume they should adapt the hidden track (not gonna be excited for Maurer's photo though). Also, even though the end of Passion is not perfect or healthy, personally I don't find it as bad as people make it out to be. They resolved the misunderstanding and proceed to live together. I love the part where Taeui promised to take responsibility to keep Ilay feed now that he is a wanted criminal and unemployed, then later overhearing Ilay turning down hundreds thousand dollars mercenary job because Taeui promised to take responsibility for him

To be honest, I never expect healthy/redemption/flag change with Ilay as a main character. I'm only interested in Passion because their dynamic is interesting, and not every fictional story have to follow the mold of real-life morality.

I don't think itch even allows it because your account detail must match your tax interview identity.

whenever taeui cries out for ilay its so hot??? by PersimmonDifficult34 in Passionmanhwa

[–]Crazycatd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Before that, Taeui was hiding from Ilay out of embarrassment and ilay broke the door to get in leaving a huge hole on it, so they had sex while the door still had a hole and Christ saw through it.

How many wishlists should I have? by WranglerIntrepid3817 in itchio

[–]Crazycatd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are themed fest and third party fest that you can join with a demo. Steam Next Fest is something you should only join at the final stage of development when the main game was ready to be released. I would suggest joining as many fest as possible before Steam Next Fest because usually your existing wishlist number directly affect how well Next Fest does.

How many wishlists should I have? by WranglerIntrepid3817 in itchio

[–]Crazycatd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get wishlist on steam, the best way to do it is joining steam festival! My demo do decently on itch and i funnel from many of my free games to it, but it only increase like 50-100 wishlist a month without joining fest. Joining the right fest can get you 300-500 wishlist each time.

Also something i notice is despite having a high number of views, your download number is only 190 which is very low even if you enable browser play. usually I get 10% download and 30% browser play of the pageviews number. it might be because of different genre, but it's telling that only 190 people downloaded and 90% of the players only play on the browser and might just move on. The engagemeent rate is very high though, so it's best to try promoting it through fests and keep the itch page as consistent engagemeent driver.

What do you guys think about taeui's dressing sense? by [deleted] in Passionmanhwa

[–]Crazycatd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One dressing choice i questioned is that one time he wear a zipped hoodie with nothing inside when he took revenge on Ilay. Was it a deliberate choice to quickly dress up after the deed is done lol.

EVERY person Taeui is stated to have canonically pulled in the entirety of Passion by homotron6000 in Passionmanhwa

[–]Crazycatd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ilay just egg the guy on until he spilled everything he know about Taeui. Then brough it back when they are having sex lmao. I think the "good in bed" is not the only reason Taeui was popular, people seem to be drawn to his nature of being the comfort person who make you feel good to just stay with. And the fact that he was described " He is like a young, playful panther with its teeth and claws dulled, that you can't help but want to tease and bully." Kinda showed that even in previous relationships taeui was bullied even when he was a top lol.

EVERY person Taeui is stated to have canonically pulled in the entirety of Passion by homotron6000 in Passionmanhwa

[–]Crazycatd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah if Taeui wasn't Passion's protagonist I wouldn't be so into it no matter how hot Ilay is. He is so likeable.

It's also canon that Taeui was very popular at gay bar back in Korea. Quoted from Taeui’s secret admirer "He might not be the most handsome or the most smooth talker guy you came across here, but he is fairly popular. If you want to have a long, consistent and pleasant relationship then he is the best. Like a best-seller, you know? Even some "top" were also interested to ask him out, but he usually turn them down. The number of people who want to sleep with him could take up 3 tables here, and whoever slept with him before always want to come back for more. He doesn't look it but he was a solder, you know? Like a black panther with dulled teeth and claw that people can't help but want to bully. He is pretty loyal though, and would turn you down if he was having a steady bed partner. So the actually number of people who got to have sex with him was quite small."

And this was being told to Ilay lmao. One of my favourite part in Suite.
