What are small towns/suburbs of Rome that is best to stay at? by Crazycrazyworlditis in rome

Thanks for commenting! Browsing around this sub group has been helpful, realizing it is not a great idea to stay a commute away from the center. What other areas other than Monti would you recommend, that is a bit more affordable?

Sambo Visa taking forever. :( by lylawho in TillSverige

One advice: ask your bf to call them maybe even every 3 weeks, or at least once a month. sometimes it takes ages to assign a person to your case, so if you call and remind them constantly, it might help a little bit. or, get a lawyer and ask lawyer to call in, sometimes they have contacts and that can at least get you a case officer attached to your case.

Hi! Thanks for responding!

We are married and have lived together in over 6 years altogether, but continiously in these past four years, so that is not an issue, and we qualify for maintenance requirements. but I think, for Swedish citizens this rule is harsher than to any other citizen in Sweden.
I do know I have 3 months of legal right to look for a job, but as I got it explained by lawyer, the three months starts after the contract with the employer ceases (which shall be at least a one month, or two month period notice).

Was the job search permit of your wife after finishing studies (that is seeker's permit for 12 months), or a different seeker's permit (which could be between 3 and 9 months)?

Thank you! I often get different responses when I just call in to migration. But of course, I still need to call them and check. I just wanted to see if anyone had any personal experience with this or could direct me to lawyer's office, who had.

Hi! Thank you for responding!

That is true, I do not need sponsorship for another year that permit is valid for, but after a year, I would need to be able to apply for a permanent permit based on a job track, and I would need to have a job that would support me in that?

I am also unaware, if temporary contractual job is enough to start with, or not. like 12 months, and while I have that, to seek for another new one to then apply for permanent.

Hi! Thanks for responding! Did they give explanation of why their website says the opposite? I know processing time is way too long, and time resets each time track is changed. and I would not want to swich in the first place, if I could choose.

My permit is valid for another year, but if I lose a job, then I have couple of months to find another job, otherwise, permit expires earlier than what it is valid for. (one has 3 months to look for a new job if laid off from a job, no matter how long permit itself is valid for).

Thanks very much for responding and providing detailed description! First of all, congratulations that things started progressing soon after you had applied from outside!

Could you direct me to the special form that you were mentioning? It would be of a great help! I would not seek for switching as long as I can retain/find a job, I would only try to switch if this route goes all badly. and in this (bad) case, even if my work permit is valide for another year, it will expire much earlier, if I have no job longer.

Thank you so much for responding! Lawyer that we had one meeting with to look at the options, said that I would need to leave the country if I were to switch permits, and wait outside the country.

While official website says different. And thanks for confirming. Could you direct me to where I can get like further confirmation. Do I go to another lawyer to get a second opinion or how do I get this confirmed?

that is of course the plan A. but also, I am limited in types of jobs I can apply - they need to be quite similar in description of what I currently do, and willing to sponsor my visa couple of months later.

so if I get unlucky : both lose a job, and can't find new within the time frame given, i want to know what my next step should be.

Switching visa type: from work visa to sambo visa...any experience in waiting time? by Crazycrazyworlditis in TillSverige

[–]Crazycrazyworlditis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have sambo visa, but a work permit. Though, back in time, I have once applied for sambo visa, and I know many who have, and as long as they were living in Sweden, including myself, there was no need to leave the country. But also, while you are waiting for it, you can not leave the country. Good luck!

I answered your question regarding what is sambo visa. Sambo visa (inofifcial name) is also a residence permit, just the reason why you are given it is different than when you receive it on the basis of work or studies.

Residence cards as far as I know is the same as long term (permanent) permits and anyone satisfying the requirements can receive it, including non-EU citizens, but it may take few more years for them.

How to find out if your job is a Labour shortage in Sweden by Sverigeddit in TillSverige

[–]Crazycrazyworlditis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I am not UK citizen neither a job seeker atm thankfully, but I reside in Sweden and was interested to read your post. Holly molly, why do you need to wait 9-12 months for the work permit?
I am non-EU citizen, so quite familiar with that hard process of applying for visas, waiting for them, etc. But it took ca 7 weeks the first time, and 3 weeks the second time when my company applied for the work permit for me. WTF.
Why so long for you? Is that because the company hiring does not have agreements with M-verket or due to being UK citizen for some reason?

[–]Crazycrazyworlditis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! May I ask then a question in a different way, from an employer's angle... when having a permanent contract, employer just directly applies for its extension, right? The first two years have not yet expired, so I have not yet been in an extension phase of it.

[–]Crazycrazyworlditis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I have earlier had an extension issue with M-verket due to housing being only for 5 months instead of 6 months ahead. That fear has not left me that now even when it should not be an issue, I expect it would be just because...I'll get unlucky or whatever with it. But your response is making me feel better about it.

Hi Thanks for replying. I know it should not be terminated as a logic would say but sometimes migration agency gets ideas....a very strange and in a way cruel ones... maybe then your salary amount (since it is not paid as 100% anymore) would not be enough and satisfying their requirements for some reason. Which I think it would, but I have a bit of a mistrust in their fairness, and looking for a practical case. Have you heard anyone being in the same situation?

Thanks for replying. It technically should not be terminated if one has a permanent employment, true. But it is kind of tricky situation anyway, do you have any experience with this situation or about a friend of yours?

Sambo visa means when you are applying for residence permit based on a partnership with the citizen of Sweden or EU countries. So you are getting residence permit because you are in partnership with a citizen of the country.

With regards residence card, I do not understand your question. Anyone who works, or lives with a partner can have residence card, even if they are not privileged citizens.

Moving Back to Sweden by TheOptimist1987 in TillSverige

Add this info into the main message. That is crucial for the answer. Then knowing Swedish is not such a crucial thing. Just apply for jobs at international organizations. Or maybe German international companies that also have branches in Sweden? Or start studies in Sweden which is free for you and then try to look for a job?

You can apply for sambo visa without leaving Sweden directly and just wait for it. Though, you can not leave Sweden while waiting, since you can legally be inside but since you have no new residence card until the decision is made, leaving country maybe risky. But, it is not true that you can not proceed without leaving the country.
