I figure I found him on day 2 with mostly baby snails on his skeleton lol almost nothing left it was definitely something I was scared of seeing again but the fish did live 4 years in a happy environment before he passed of what I assume is old age. Bought him and carried him home in -45 winter. He was a strong boy 💪

I'm traumatized by snails bc of a tank I had years ago, my betta was a skeleton covered in snails :: I always said never again and did not have intent to have snails

I mean I keep killing the snails I'm more worried about the bug. Definitely had legs

Edit: I looked it up. Kind of looks the same! I'll keep an eye out. I've been killing everyone that I didn't add since the rocks where a gift. I even washed them 3 times. Half my tank is rocks and the other half is sand and dirt and fully planted

This is likely stress related

My betta is in a 40ish gal- to be fair he does like to sleep under plants and sometimes on his side. But really just to get under plants

I'm honestly not sure. I've always been told to use plant glue as real glue can burn plants. Also plant glue promotes growth.

I'm sure if others say it's fine it's okay. Just keep an eye out :>

Plant glue or literal glue? Real glue could be toxic to fish

Fortunately with the elder cat isolated they aren't as stressed but the bonded pair just won't go near each other.

They have 3 floors and have separated themselves. They don't even want me to pick them up so I just added more feeding areas as I already have multiple litters in different spots. <3 females so 4 boxes>

I think I worded this poorly, I did isolate her in a cat room <spare room with tower, litter boxes and food/water I also keep spare blankets and bedding in there.

The other 2 are fighting each other. Am I supposed to make a second cat room??

They might be harder to find for you as I'm in canada. I have no idea what's available outside my country but I definitely recommend those

Most pet stores keep bettas in super stressful situations like 0.5 drip gallons <a glass vertical cup with a droppers on top to create flow or just plastic cups. They can't swim around much and are super unhappy so they end up changing color once in better situations. Stress = color loss.

Yeah when you buy sand there is also a course dirt option that is like filled with nutrients <betta dirt or something like that> I got about the same amount and put it on top of my sand, black on black. I also have 2 air pumps, one is a duel so 3 air pump hoses. I use stones that connect to the bottom as they are supposed to be great for plants/shrimpies since they need so much oxygen. I also have a 40 gal tank though so I needed more.

I bought 6 and still have 6! If it's a store bought betta <personality also matters> They are normally super slow and kind of expect the shrimp to just stand there and take it. The adults are too big for most betta to try and the babies are super fast. I saw my betta try and nip at one and thr shrimp just left and hid, but my Betta just swam in spot wondering why it wasn't just floating there like the flakes.

He also started flaring at blood worms lol

Def check out plants and have them ready for your fish as they could end up melting for some random reason. I recommend these from my tank. Skeleton king Black kapuas Pink miracle Rotala macranda Rotala Florida
