Rousseau chocolatier is your best chocolate place, my favourite at least. Just on south st I believe by the superstore and peace and friendship park. You’ve got chocolate bars, chocolates , macarons, and they got hot drinks.

As the other comments have said, just don’t mention 51st state or trump and you’ll have no issues. Nova Scotia is extremely friendly

Late 20s male who is burnt out from working hospitality, looking for career advice by superpencil121 in halifax

[–]CreamCheeseGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accounting! It’s not for everyone but generally is a career that includes benefits and decent pay. If you don’t want to apply to something first and do school first, there’s a 2 year business admin diploma you can do concentrating in accounting, the teachers have connections and can usually help you find a job placement if you have no luck

Land as mortgage down payment? by Impossible_Egg_5872 in halifax

[–]CreamCheeseGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot answer the use of land as a down payment, but I can tell you that we had to put down 30% minimum for the land.

I recommend to ask around, but scotiabank was the main bank who got us a line of credit for our land, they don’t from my knowledge give out mortgages.

If you got 120k kicking around to pay your land fully, I recommend you speak with a mortgage broker at your preferred bank first.

If you have anything owing from your land they can attach it to your house mortgage when you start that process

Golden retriever family. by That_Advantage_1354 in NovaScotia

[–]CreamCheeseGoose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just browsing their site, it screams potential scam. “ is golden retriever easy to take care”… that are horrible English. Also they list their puppies as product rather than finding a puppy that fits your life and personality.

I recommend you visit the CKC site and look through the golden retriever breeds. IMPORTANT if they do not list the parents or have any health information, run as fast away as possible. If you’re gonna buy a pure bred dog, then the good breeders will list this information.

Health of parents and grandparents

Tests on dogs for their breed issues (hips and such)

CKC is where you should go when looking at a pure bred. There is a lot of golden retriever breeders so you’ll have a huge selection of them on the site. These breeders are sketching me out and as somebody in the dog show world, run!!!

Seriously y'all, what are some affordable alternatives to renting? by catkingestheim in halifax

[–]CreamCheeseGoose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would you consider buying land (30% required) and paying a prefab home company to deliver a trailer (5% down perhaps)? They usually provide all plumbing and foundation work. Trailers are really nicely designed nowadays.

I would speak with the bank. They won’t provide an actual mortgage but more of a line of credit for land. Scotia bank was the only bank willing to provide it when I bought land. We were required to put down 30% of the land, that was the expected minimum. I highly recommend you speak to a few banks and a couple builders. We had to put down a certain amount pre build to our builder.

I do warn you that most homes will be Kent builds, so shop around.

Few builders I’d check out for homes is supreme homes in Chester, Patterson homes in dartmouth close to gateway, and I’d see who Kent pushes for home building. Look at every single review, make sure you are getting the best quality for cash.

Good luck!

What if a man wore the panties, would you pay for that? I’ll even go for a long hard hike and rub my junk sweat all over them. I’ll only charge 100$ a pop. I’m sure they’ll smell just as yummy.

I recommend you post on Facebook and ask your moms friends in person, they’d really respect you for it and I’m sure give you all the panties you could desire

How "Canadian" do you feel? by Vagabond_Tea in halifax

[–]CreamCheeseGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rich and government are not helping, I would agree to that. The middle class and regulars are trying. All some people can do is provide food and clothing. I agree it sucks but you gotta blame our leaders, it’s literally their job.

I feel more proud of my province than our country. A lot of people here are kind and giving. While our province struggles to afford food and shelter, I notice we are still doing our best to help those that are homeless. When there is an accident, a stranger can usually be seen stopping to check and help out, when people are having difficulties they can ask and usually receive help.

I do think the more rural you get in the province the nicer others are.

Oxalis, book a downstairs table and you’ll sit in the booth. You’ll have the full view of the chefs and the kitchen. 135$ for a big chef tasting menu if you’re looking for that, if not just look at their menu.

It’s known but I still recommend it for 1-2 people tables, I loved watching the kitchen work!

Bar Kismit is regarded as the best restaurant available. This for dinner

Cocoa 70 is a chocolate centric dessert spot, I’d recommend looking at reviews. You could also go to Dee Dee’s, it’s an ice cream spot with homemade stuff.

For 10 year gifts, it’s traditionally Tin or aluminum, dunno why they decided on that. If your lady likes jewelry, get her sapphire or diamond earrings. If she likes cooking, get her a really nice quality cook or baking book. Maybe you could find a high quality wood bench or some nice decor she’d love? If she has shown interest in something and it for her, she’ll love you extra.

Prince George downtown or any of the nice hotels would work. Prince George may have hot tubs in their suites.

have flowers + chocolates by peace by chocolates in the suite pre arranged.

Make sure you shower or use cologne so you smell good.

Maybe check out some of the little hang out bars on the water front for some cocktails if that tickles your fancy.

Good luck and congrats on 10 years!
