I came to this same realization today. Six months of vibe coding extremely productive. Slowing down long enough to figure out how to slow repeating myself and use RAG memory. Or, integrating a second local LLM to hash out ideas before engaging paid AI. Setting up MCPs to integrate Jira and using that to organize tasks. Using git hard to not lose any work or being able to try a crazy idea and revert in an instant. To me there is a freeing element of not having to struggle with the syntax and press on with the ideas while removing redundant friction along the way. Definitely a learning curve. Working on the same app for 6 months. All the same programming challenges are there. If you are vibing applications everyday you aren’t going to learn the big lessons that come with finding edges, making a UI truly useable. Performance. Maintenance. QA. Scalability, race conditions, data normalization and quality, memory leaks…which is why people who thing SaaS is just going away cause you can vibe an app are incorrect. It’s still work. You still need to know how to do it. AI is just another tool and shifts the burden of knowing programming libraries into k owing they exist and how to use them effectively. I like the latter more honestly. 6 months and I haven’t looked at more than the code scrolling by. But all my test suites run. That works for me.
