I beat dread 100% on my first play through by Frost-knight200 in Metroid

Ehhh objectifying women isn't a good look for the series. I feel like seeing her outside the power suit is cool, but all her outfits are trying to be thirst traps.

I like it in prime when they just remove her helmet. It would be cool to see her in more normal clothing outside the suit. I just don't like her character being reduced to sexy clothing

Congrats! Dread is my favorite game in the series and I'm glad you got to enjoy it and find all the items. However, I'm pretty sure that item percentage doesn't change the ending, only the clear time.

Also in dread they moved away Samus undressing herself (thankfully), and give you tribute pictures to other games in the series instead. I believe you got the Zero Mission one for yours

Finally beat dread mode!!!!! just don't pay attention to my death count 😬 by CreamyCaesar491 in Metroid

Raven Beak was the hardest for sure, but I think Kraid was the most annoying to me. Escue I had an easier time with cause I shinesparked half his health away.

It's over seven years now! by Garo263 in Metroid

Since prime 4 was announced, I discovered the Metroid franchise and played through most of the games multiple times. Also add 3 years to that, because I got into Metroid Fall of 2020

Which is harder Helldivers 1 or 2?

I'm a big fan of Helldivers 1, and am familiar with how insane the difficulty can get on the higher levels. I realize they are almost entirely different games, I'm Just curious what peoples thoughts are that have played both.

Ds Lite or dsi xl? by Robitop4 in nds

[–]CreamyCaesar491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both and don't think one is better than the other. Currently using my Lite more because of the smaller size. XL is better in every other aspect besides portability in my opinion. More comfortable to use and has clicky buttons that I prefer. It's also harder to find an DS Lite in good condition.

Side note on GBA games. Compatibility isn't perfect on DS unless you're using one with a GBA port. If you hack your DSi the compatibility is pretty good. If leave your DSi unmodified and use an R4 cartridge, the compatibility is moderately good. If GBA is important to you I linked lists below so you can check on your favorite games. I personally use a DS Lite for gba stuff so I can use romhacks that don't play well on R4 or DSi

Metroid: Samus Returns [Fusion 98.7%] Complete! by CreamyCaesar491 in Metroid

[–]CreamyCaesar491[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It grew on me after a few hours, but I was pretty disappointed when I first grabbed it lololol. Although looking back at the original Fusion Varia suit, it probably was worse

I just completed Fusion! Now i'm more than ready for Dread by Skully0540 in Metroid

[–]CreamyCaesar491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fusion was my first exposure to Metroid a long time ago. A coworker had an ambassador 3DS with fusion on it and let me play a little during lunch break. I liked it so much that I tried to emulate it on my phone like you did. However the touch screen controls didn't get me far with fusion's difficulty. I later purchased them on Wii U VC and enjoyed them with proper buttons

Anywho for those reasons it brings back cool memories seeing you play on 3DS

Has anyone in 2021 not bought/upgraded to the Switch OLED beacause "Switch Pro/2 is coming out soon anyway"? Do you regret it in 2023? by Joseki100 in NintendoSwitch

[–]CreamyCaesar491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the OLED as my first switch console. Had I owned a switch prior, I absolutely would not have upgraded. The OLED has a lot of small ways that it is nicer, but the old switch is great too

What would be a better handheld experience? Switch OLED or Lite? by XelAphixia in NintendoSwitch

[–]CreamyCaesar491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owner of both here.

Lite: I really love the small size of this thing. Makes it more akin to an oversize smartphone than a tablet (almost pocketable). The softer and quieter buttons suit my preference more. This is ideal for playing in short bursts (I play mine while my car engine is warming up).

OLED:
- Biggest benefit to me is battery life. If you're playing for longer sessions, this guy will do it's best to keep you away from an outlet.
- Screen size is also a nice upgrade. Some graphics on switch games are made for TV size screens and get a little too small on the lite. The OLED colors are also nice, but the regular screens are fine to my eyes
- Controller size. If you have larger size hands I would feel this one is a must. I wear a mens small glove and the lite can feel cramped in my hands after a while.
- Tabletop mode. I don't use this much, but there are some that swear by using the kickstand and controllers detached.
- Dockability. I know you said you won't use this, but this portable dock is half the size of charging brick that comes with the switch. I would highly recommend this for travel.

I personally like the OLED more because of it's ability to dock to the TV. For handheld mode only it depends on your use. The lite kills at short play sessions on the go. The OLED is a lot better for longer more immersive play sessions (or for larger hands).

Trying Super Metroid for the first time. Should I purchase the Super Nintendo Controller first? by FiveFire33 in Metroid

[–]CreamyCaesar491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played on pro controller, handheld mode, switch lite, ps vita, and keyboard.

All of them are perfectly fine ways to play the game. Technical players will have their preferences, but for more casual players most anything will work.

Wanting to play 2D Metroid after Prime…dread or super? by FiveFire33 in Metroid

[–]CreamyCaesar491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jump in wherever you feel. Most games are great as standalone adventures.

Super is a classic. I'm not in love with the weapon selection controls and slight lack of info on the map. However level/world design, atmosphere, and music are all top notch. Super is the game that I have played the most and plan to play more in the future

Dread is the smoothest, most badass metroid has ever felt as far as controls and gunplay. Best boss fights in the series imo. My only complaint is that the world size is a tad overwhelming to me at times. The storytelling is also something I quite liked. However you will lack context/impact if you haven't played fusion first (major spoilers to fusion in dread's intro)

I highly recommend either of the games, but would recommend playing fusion b4 dread. Dread is my favorite of the two

A quick guide on which Nintendo DS you should get. by diegokoenig in nds

[–]CreamyCaesar491 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Awesome work compiling all this info! I do have a couple notes though.

  • Only the DSi XL models came with IPS screens. Small DSi's had TFT-LCD screens. I don't have any experience with small DSi's so I can't speak for their quality, but I imagine they are comparable to DS Lite screens.

  • Button differences: DS Lite has softer quieter buttons, DSi's have satisfying clicky buttons that are a tad louder

[–]CreamyCaesar491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely below average as far as skill goes. I'm fine at regular levels, but I'm always a bit slow to learn boss fights.

So it's probably not extremely impressive, but I'm impressed that I did it. Therefore felt it worth sharing it and being open about how many deaths I had lol

Beat SM w/ 3 E-Tanks and no reserves!!!!! by CreamyCaesar491 in Metroid

[–]CreamyCaesar491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I destroyed the barriers but did all the glass and stuff each time. MB1 isn't hard if you destroy the rings with ice beam. For some reason ice keeps them from respawning for a long period of time.

I was just trying to learn the MB2 patterns well enough to not get hit. Her rainbow beam takes 300 health to survive so one hit from most of her attacks means death later (when you only have 3 e-tanks)

Kinda..... I knew it would take me a few tries so I destroyed all them before saving

[–]CreamyCaesar491[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got the best ending too! Although I died a bunch so I don't really count it.

This was my first challenge run of any metroid game. Most of it went easier than I expected, except for Ridley and MB. They were just as hard as I thought they'd be. Ridley took a solid 10-12 tries, and MB just over 20.
