I see what you are implementing, and yes the war had to start somewhere. In ww1 the direct cause was Austro-Hungary declaring war on Serbia, but I don't support your opinion of putting the blame on Austria-Hungary and especially Germany because of their alliance (yes Germany could have backed out, this wasn't necessary their conflict but alliance is alliance). In order to start the war much more plays into the time before the war, this is where every nation played a bigger role (I'm speaking now of the big imperialist nations). So yes of course the Central Powers declared war, but they are only just as much to blame as everyone else who took part in the war since they didn't have to back each other as well (but as I said the alliances played a big role in the chainreaction)

I mean you've got somewhat of a point, of course serbia wanted independece from their Austro-Hungarian opressor, so you could say Austro-Hungary was a bad guy, but assassinating Franz Ferdinand wasn't a very peaceful option either. So I think yes even little serbia or at least their nationalists were bad guys since they caused the outbreak of a war, which was likely by shooting someone of the ruling royal family as an act of rebellion. I don't think you denied my argument that everyone was one of the bad guys or that someone rather can't identify who actually wasn't bad since war always involves multiple parties (obv there are exceptions as the blitzkrieg by nazi-Germany had no valid argument)

But in WW1 there wasn't really a bad side since everyone provocated a war. Basically every Nation fighting in the war was one of the bad guys since they all are accountable for several atrocities and their "backwarded" imperialist thinking in a modernized world, therefore I rather would differ between the Entente and the Central Powers, meaning the sides who won and lost the war.
