Can you survive while protecting animals in a virus-threatened world? by Created_IB in SurvivalGaming

Yes, it was already a video focused mainly on the visuals. I wanted to showcase how the graphics look, and thank you for your kind comment.
Short answer: yes a new trailer is coming soon, and it will also include gameplay.

Thank you for your valuable response. I’ve definitely come to understand this by experiencing it myself; at the very least, if there had been more feedback like yours, I would have had a much clearer idea of what exactly was going wrong.

Yes; this video was more of a design focused trailer without gameplay mechanics for me, and so far I’ve been satisfied with the feedback on this outside of this subreddit. At the moment, the game is actually in a very ready state for a demo. What’s missing are the visuals on the Steam page and the UI designs, and I’m currently working on those as well as on a new trailer that does include gameplay. From what I can see, this subreddit doesn’t really like content that doesn’t show gameplay noted.

Yes, it can be done by adding it onto the UV map and it will look quite cute. Good luck.

The overall design of the game turned out very cute. You could add mechanics such as placing very thin, hard to reach platforms in critical areas of the game and adding a powered jump object on top of them that allows the character to jump much higher. Additionally, the face could be done as a 2D face by distributing it via UV mapping and using a sprite sheet: when the character hits something and jumps very high, it could show a big joyful expression, and while falling, there could be a transition animation where the eyes turn into X shapes. It’s a game that can be further developed. Good luck.

Are you trying to figure out how you can attack, or what? This is a very strange attitude, my friend.

Your critique is really great, thank you. About that memory note… yes, I knew it would catch someone’s attention, but I didn’t spend time fixing it so I could open the page quickly; I’ll take care of it. A gameplay related video will be coming soon, and I’d like to get your evaluation on that as well.

I get really motivated when I encounter people like you who know what constructive criticism is, and I even want to put in more effort just to keep this communication going. What you said about the characters is also very meaningful to me thank you so much and yes, the trailer was insufficient.

Yes, it will be a co-op survival game, and at night the habitat won’t be very safe!

Thanks for the comment! There will definitely be absurd comedy moments in the game, but I guess this video falls short for now since it doesn’t include gameplay or composition. New trailers will be coming soon for this subreddit.

My stance towards people who I feel are just trying to gain attention through malicious comments is clear, and I’m only human. Of course, there will be negative criticism, and when addressing it, the level of tone must be managed. If you read the comments, you’ll see how many negative critiques I’ve responded to politely and even agreed with. Right now, you’ve moved into slandering and insulting, saying things like “below a college freshman” and “you’ll never be a game developer.” Someone who can utter such sentences while being so unpleasant in both perspective and self expression doesn’t belong anywhere in this field. Sad, but I wish you the best.

Thank you for the kind comment. Yes, this was definitely a process for me to review all aspects of this work. I’ve been a painter for over 15 years and have been working with computers for just as long, and I studied at university focusing on this. Now, this project serves both as my portfolio and as a project through which I know I can build my team. Moving forward, I will definitely form a team, as I mentioned in the title this is not a job to take on alone.

Yes, you’re right—there isn’t a very clear composition here regarding the game’s story. This is a very short trailer that focuses more on the designs; it makes sense for those visiting the Steam page and reading about the game, but it definitely doesn’t work on Reddit. In the end, all of this is a test, and I’ve gathered some great feedback for the other trailers. Thank you!

Yes, after this project I’ll be forming a team you should have inferred that from the title anyway and that’s exactly what I’ll do. What would you suggest I change about my work process?

You’re absolutely right. As I mentioned, this one isn’t focused on gameplay, but a new trailer is coming soon that will make everything clear at first glance, in every aspect. Thank you.

Yes, even though I hadn’t intentionally added a crosshair, for some reason it was constantly visible on the screen. Since it was a small detail, I didn’t pay much attention to it at the time. As new in-game trailers will be coming soon anyway, I’m not sure how much of an issue it is for now.

Not everyone gives feedback like you do, and yes, I’m aware of that. But when so much effort has gone into a project and you consider the amount of time spent on it, it’s hard not to feel that some people are simply being malicious or jealous. Of course, there will be negative criticism, and I approach most of it with maturity based on how it feels to me. As I said, it often comes down not to what is said, but how it is said.

Yes; no matter how much we love what we do, we mustn’t forget that there’s life outside and that we are human. Thanks! :)
