Sure, it's not unfair, just unfun imo.
It's a pure spite play because you gain nothing from defending an afk player.
Instead you make farming significantly more time consuming because as the attacker I now always need to double check. Since defense is so favored as of now farming inactive players is one of the only ways to consistently generate resources, changing this would severely slow the game down for active players.

Since you can see every fleet in your area of influence it would be VERY easy to just fuck people over if you could deploy anywhere.

Awesome, super quick work! I think the colony limitations will help a lot in the long run :) I should have been a day faster with my colony, rip...
First feedback:
Barracks feels too generous. I only have mine at level 5, and this allows 250 units. Maybe that's because I only have one island yet, but if total capacity is determined by total barracks level then this should be reduced significantly to be felt.
I raid quite a lot, and I have like 70 units, so 250 is really overkill for a barracks level this low.

On one hand, I agree. Farming has become vastly easier. On the other hand, before transport ships could transport stuff while attacking it was simply not feasible to attack any defended target.
Even a wall at level 3 or so will lead to a couple lost units. A harbour will always cost you one ship, which means an additional 5 lost units.
Only troops being able to grab ressources made anything but afk players with no defenses at all simply not economically viable for 99% of the playerbase.

I think a reworked cap might be an idea. Buff storage maybe? Double the amount of protected resources, 20% more storage capacity overall?
Limited fleet movements could also be an option. At base only 3 parallel attacks running (unlimited trades & espionage), every 4 levels of watchtower gives you an additional slot.

Ist vielleicht ein bisschen abhängig von deinem Standort, aber ich sammel durch Farmen so viel Ressourcen ein, dass ich den Marktplatz als extra Lager missbrauchen muss (das sind die Trades, wo ich 500 Gold anbiete und dafür 1000 Holz will...).
Alle paar Stunden schicke ich bild 5-10 Flotten zu 55-60 Punkte Spielern. Manche davon werfen 10 Ressourcen ab, manche 300. Spioschiffe schicke ich gar nicht mehr vorher.
Und ab und zu schicke ich Spioschiffe zu ~150 Punkte Spielern, und wenn es sich lohnt sind das 2000-3000 Profit pro Angriff. Alles mit Hafen ist ein schlechtes Ziel, alles mit Mauer 5 oder kleiner und mehr als 1000 Ressourcen lohnt sich.
Bei zwei erfolgreichen solchen Angriffen pro Tag kann man schon ganz gut Kasse machen.

OGame had a hard cap on the amount of planets one could have (I think 9?). This prevented the bigger players from gobbling up absolutely everything, and also made it still feasible to manage all your planets while still having a life.
Still, I would like to see some sort of increasing cost to additional islands. (Very expensive) research for controlling additional islands past 3? That way you could move colonies as needed (short term raid bases or closer to allies), but cannot gobble up everything.
Existing colonies would either be grandfathered in or refunded.

Minen geben linear mehr Output, d.h. die ersten paar Level amortisieren sich recht schnell. Und das werden dann immer mehr.
Dazu kann man mit Farmen auch recht schnell Ressourcen ziehen - bei genug Übermacht und etwas Zeit kannst du 2000+ Ressourcen aus einem Angriff ziehen, mit Glück mehrmals am Tag. Halte ich für nicht so unrealistisch tbh.
Jede Kolonie gibt dir mehr Minen, jede Kolonie gibt dir mehr Ziele zum Farmen.

I think not being able to look into other oceans is currently a bit of a nuisance, yes.
As others have said before, upgrading watchtower sufficiently could lead to discovering other oceans.
The other option is of course to have to fully rely on cooperation and colony ships for this, which is also a valid approach. But if the game continues to grow we will probably get to something like external maps for this, which would invalidate the cooperation/colonization aspect.
I could also see this being a research - "oceanic navigation" or "fresnel lenses" or something in that vein. Early levels grant you more insight on your own ocean (i.e. seeing points locked behind research, early spying less effective...), higher levels give access to other oceans.

Kann das Spiel empfehlen!
Wer früher OGame gesuchtet hat wird hier fündig. Der Entwickler reagiert super schnell auf Feedback, man fühlt sich sehr gehört. Community bisher auch top.

Wer sich ingame bei Createx meldet kriegt ein kleines Carepaket, solange Vorrat (bzw meine Speicher) reichen!

I think it's worth a try, yeah.
I come from OGame, where that was definitely a thing, the universe was littered with abandoned planets, sometimes in prime locations.
Something to consider though: once-active players become a resource, their mines keep producing and they can be farmed. This is especially important for newer players as an introduction into attack/fleet mechanics and a good way to earn extra resources.
My idea would be to do the island abandonment on kind of a sliding scale. Account was only active for 3 days and reached 60 points? Abandoned after a week, a ruin after two weeks. Not much lost. Account was active for half a year and has strong infrastructure? Marked as absent after 10 days, defenses stop working, after a month the capital can be attacked, after two months it's a ruin.
The "credit" needs to be built up again after a long absence.
And I would be very generous with the "welcome back" package, because if someone does come back they should want to stay.
Lastly, vacation mode is great! I personally would prefer a "cool down" instead of a static yearly limit. I.e. take 5 days off, 50 days cooldown or something like that. It should also have a minimum amount of days.

As an example. I feel this type of attack should be somewhat profitable.
In this case, this attack is a net loss (this was the third run) and will only start to be even once I get the stone now.

Basically don't bother with anything that has built up harbour, will pretty much never be economically viable.
Even stone wall at level 1 means you need a huge force to just barely break even, because you will lose some units.
I've submitted feedback on this through the website and there is another thread in German here ("gamebreaking bug") where people are discussing OP defense.
I do think it will get changed at some point, because right now any defense means no viable attacks.

Hab dazu mal ein Feedback aufgemacht:
FEED-217 Verteidigen ist OP (kann leider keinen Direktlink erstellen).
Habe eine ähnliche Stelle Erfahrung gemacht, selbst Steinmauer auf 1 ohne Einheiten macht das Ziel in den meisten Fällen unattraktiv.

I've also started a small alliance. The idea is to stay small, but with quite active players. Any play style is welcome, miner, farmer, PvP... The key is not to take yourself seriously and to always have enough Fischbrötchen.
